Ok..so this my very first ever attempt at using XNALara:

Just for context, Shepard is sitting on the edge of his bed upon the Normandy and Miranda is kneeling on the bed behind him. So far I didn't change too much on Miranda's face (which is why you can't really see it), she has a slight smile and is looking at him.

*snip*

What do you think?

The smile/his facial expression creeps me out...

How so? It's as normal of a smile as I can figure out. Thought it was kind of cute. :?

Soooo much better than his raep face...:P

1. Where do you get such maps/background for xnalara?
2. Shep's smile is a bit creepy. Maybe too much teeth.

That's what it reminds me of actually.

1. Found it here under the "Scenery" label.

2. I'm thinking its maybe the angle? I thought the idea of him having a simple but slightly crooked smile was cool. I'll see what else I can do with it.

I can honestly say I don't see the resemblence...however I respect your opinion.

Edit: Less smile or no smile? Trying to figure out how to change it.

It’s quite good, I think, especially for a first effort. If you squint a little—yes, seriously—you lose some of the sharpness of the textures and it looks pretty natural.

Small tweaks I’d make: close the upper eyelid slightly, and tighten the corner of the mouth and/or curl the middle lip up. It opens a little too evenly: it should be more <> than ==. You could also tweak the lighting slightly, moving the spot off to the side.

The smile is what reminds me of it, not really anything else.

Thanks for the map.

It's really hard to get decent smiles in 3d scenery, especially if it's supposed to involve teeth. Never got a decent open smile in such stuff, either...

So this pic goes with the current chapter in my fanfic, "If It Meant Living".  The fic is from the perspective of my female Shepard and covers, well, everything.  This chapter is centered around the events on Horizon, but adds significant backstory to how Miranda tracked down her father and got to Horizon.  I'd like to think it presents her in a rather more positive and strong light.  Also, at the end, Miranda and Oriana go with Shepard back to the Normandy, so Miranda will continue to appear in the remaining chapters.

I know it can be weird to drop in and just read a single chapter in an established fanfic, but I will say that Miranda also got significant attention in the ME2 storyline (Chapters 17-45, and in particular Ch. 38-39 and 44).  Anyway, here's a link to the current chapter for anyone who is interested: If It Meant Living-66: "Prodigal" (ff.net) / Deviant Art.[/quote]
Very nice chapter. I like your writing style and will continue to follow your story. Dropping in here was totally worth it

^ Much better. One last tweak: see if it helps to move Shepard’s eye just a little toward the left and down (edit: his left, so right in the image). Right now he’s looking at the side of Miranda’s head. This may or may not work, and it looks pretty good as it is…you can’t maintain full eye contact in that pose, anyway, so it could look less natural if you try to force it too far. So play around with it a bit.

That one is just poor camera angle/perspective. He's actually looking directly at her. I tried screwing with that for a while. Can't quite adjust the angle of the camera to compliment both of their stares.

The first angle is definitely better (and the third one is a good crop). I’d settle on two-three images, and then adjust within those individually. I should have been clearer—it looks like he’s looking a little to the side in the first one, so if you decide to use that angle, you can try to adjust it so that it looks good exactly there.

That last version is very nice! Oops, ninja'd. I meant the version before the last one.

Miranda has a large role, relatively speaking. It's just that a lot of her lines feel like padding. They add nothing. Jay needed a good editor.

Yeah there's so much padding. Something like the Cerberus  renegades should have been at the heart of her content alongside the oriana stuff and would have made it a lot more excusable that she doesn't join the team. As it is i only get to hear about it from my crazy asari  stalker, not from my girlfriend.

Thank you everyone for your feedback. I'll mess with it more tomorrow and see what I can come up with. For now, good night...well, I guess it's good morning now. Nearly 4am here, doh!

BTW, technically, she does appear in a priority mission...

Yeah, one, but not two. Somebody editing that page must have thought that she could/would also appear at Cronos.

I'm afraid I've lost track of them. There was a file floating around at some point. I'll see if I can find it.

Tali doesn't love Shepard, she loves the idea of Shepard. Plus Miranda is unique in that she represents someone of sort of the same stock of person as him. She's one of the few people he has to prove himself to.

If you;re looking for content, Tali wins no question. So what do you value in a romance. What's your Shepard like?

Tali's ME2 romance was too close to my high school and college years. Miranda was romanced because I found her interesting.

The choice is simple. Miranda Lawson. Miranda is a tough, driven woman. She has brains and beauty. She's mature. She didn't fawn all over Shepard either. Shepard had to prove himself to her. :)
