I think they'd come to an understanding as well.

Although from what I've been led to understand, if Ashley is alive and you aren't romancing her, she's sleeping with someone else on the ship...

That's completely untrue and I will fight you.*

Besides, it's not like she ever slept with Jocob.

*I'm just kidding, but it is untrue.

She's cooking for James in one scene.

The dialogue is ****ing hilarious.

It's quite evident someone has been burying white in the pink recently.

At least that's how I interpreted it.

He's cooking for her.  Details matter.

And this has been discussed ad naseum on the Ash board.  You're imaging stuff, unless you think Vega's a date-rapist.

And Miranda DID sleep with Jacob.  Canon.  Good job there sloppy secondsPosted Image

I agree with you krukow. I didn't romance Ash and she didn't mention that she was sleeping with some else on the ship. You never see Ash do anything of the sort.

I know that and I don't care. Miranda has clearly had sexual partners before. But have they mattered to her in the same way Shepard does? Clearly not. The woman who cries in that break up scene is clearly VERY attached to Shepard.

But she gets back at Jacob though. Although the platform where Shepard and Miranda have sex isn't rendered, the entrance way is. And if you look up from the engine room you can see that the pipes align with the ones in the armory.

If Jacob were to look down he'd see everything.

Oh taboo, I'm just teasing you.  Everyone has a past, and you're right.  Shepard is something completely new for Miranda.  I may be going to far, but I literally think Shepard is the first person she ever connects with on a human level.  I mean, she loves her sister, but you read those old emails where she's trying to be a big sister, but just ripping off advice columns.  She loves her sister, but Shepard is the first truly human connection she makes.  IMO.

Still not sure why she's picks the engine room.  They're they only 2 characters in the game with beds!!

Oh I agree with you. She thought the only validation that came before Shepard was working for Cerberus. Turns out you can have that through your work and people too. It's wonderful to see that happen for people.

She mentions she doesn't have friends in her Loyalty mission and that she has no contacts outside of Cerberus or people who work for Shepard.

When she leaves Cerberus and the Normandy crew breaks up, she's left with her sister and Shepard. I can imagine she'd be very upset if she lost him and she is if you break up with her.

She's still Miranda and has her ideals, but they're kind of put aside to make her focus on one thing, which is somewhat troubling for many people.

yeah, I can actually see her spending a lot of her life seeing people as nothing more than assests or resources to accomplish whatever it is she's set her mind too (much as she sees Shepard early on). I don't even think she wanted human connection, I think she accidentally stumbled into it with Shepard, and was unable to go back at that point.

And the more I've thought about it, the more I am annoyed at Miranda's narrow-focus in this game. I mean, yeah, she'd be very determined to rescue/find her sister, but she's also a woman of unique talent and resolve who's very interested in the future of humanity, and I just don't see her sitting on the sidelines during humanity's darkest hour. It'd be one thing if the alliance was dismissive of her, but their golden boy wants nothing more than for her to join up on the Normandy (romanced or not).

And I don't even think it's her lack of friends that causes her to be so broken up if you dump her, I think a romanced Miranda is THAT connected to Shep. I think it's annoying that she dies (Miranda should never be taken out by some two-bit Deus Ex character wanna-be, but whatevs), but the rest of it is natural reaction from her character.

Man, hanging out in this thread is starting to remind me why Ash and Miri used to be dual/equal favs of mine. If only Miri wasn't a cameo in ME3...

Think about who the other two woman onboard are who might want to sleep with Shepard? She's sleeping with Shepard in the place where Tali spends most of her time, which is also right above where Jack lives. She was marking her territory. Kasumi's reaction really said it all. "The engine room, where Tali works. Really?!"

Miranda, we love you, but damn that was kinda of evil.

She's possessive, as evidenced in dialogue in the game.

"...everyone on this ship needs to know that you're mine."

It's really funny.

The dialogue in the game when you first see her is SO Miranda though. She's suprised at how attached she got and she mentions that it was hard to be away from him and that she doesn't do well with attached.

If you meta game and watch that break up scene. You understand JUST how attached she really is. I hadn't seen it until it came up in the story section of the forums. I was absolutely gobsmacked by seeing that scene.

He means the world to her.

And now I'm making that D'AWWWWWWWW sound again.

1.  When is that "everyone on the ship" quote from?  Is that if you do the playa thing and romance a couple of people?  Cuz I've never done that (miri or stay true to ash.  I'm so whipped).
2.  Her line about wanting to break in where you're being held is SO Miranda, and yet so touching/funny/awesome at the same time.  You know she totally could have if she'd wanted to.
3.  Why would you EVER watch that scene?  I watched it once on youtube (No F*CKING WAY I ever play it).  ONCE.  I would rather rewatch the original endings 1,000 times than watch that scene again.

Also, I'm doing another Mirimance playthrough, and when she sees you at the first conversation(romanced instead of not), it just feels like her face is different (like she's waaaay happier to see you, but even that doesn't quite capture it).  Say what you want about the writing, but the programmers and Yvonne herself did such an amazing job...

If someone else is interested, Miranda tells you that she essentially wants you to herself. It's hilarious. The scene about the break in is very Miranda, she could have totally done it, and I'm sure Shepard would have loved it. And I watched the break up scene on Youtube by the way. I couldn't live with myself if I did that in game.

And of course she's happy to see him. She kisses him on the cheek in public. The person she was two years ago wouldn't even think about a public display of affection.

It was just striking, even though it's a nuance. I played an ashmance, a mirimance, and then a bunch of ashmances, and to go back to a mirimance, it's just neat to see the subtle difference in how she greets you.

So do you let her shoot her friend in ME2 (the one that double crosses you)? I can't remember his name, but I usually stop her.

I imagine the hormones and chemicals in the brain begin to rage again once she sees him krukow. By the time they reach that apartment they can't hold it any longer.

I stop her. He's the only connection she has to her old life. Reminding her that caring about someone is not a bad thing is good for her.

I was referring to the meeting on the d24 docking bay. Just the first time Miranda sees shep, it's pretty touching. Everyone (in the game) thinks of her as this ice queen, and she's sooooo not. They just don't know her, because let's be honest, nobody in ME2 rises to the point of deserving to know her. They don't give her reason to change them from asset status. They're all just chess pieces that know their place. Shepard is the exception.

That's what I meant. Ever wait a week to see a girlfriend? That excitement you feel when they come home? Imagine having the first real connection in your life disappear for six months. The chemicals WILL start to come out in full when they show up again.

Miranda tries very hard to hide her emotions but she fails miserably at times. She does well in front of Shepard, but with a bit of effort you can see the person in there. And she cares a LOT.

See, I don't think she's hiding it anymore in ME3. I think it's quite clear when you see her the first time how much she loves Shep.

Oh, she stays professional, because she's Mirana f*cking Lawson, but she's beyond pretending. She loves Shep and makes it pretty freaking clear.

She's still having some issues. She asks him if he worried about her on Horizon.

Of course he did you goof.

And then she asks him to promise her he'll be safe. He replies like she has previously, I can't do that.

And she calls him a bastard for it.

One of the last bastions of doubt comes down the last time you talk to her. She still isn't sure about their future and Shepard reassures her. That look on her face before the call fades out is VERY telling. And Shepard will find her.

So as long as you pick Destroy.

On the topic of belly buttons it's interesting that she has one at all, seeing as she was never attached to an umbilical cord.

Her genome was artificially created, but she must have been grown somewhere. Either in a surrogate mother or in an artificial uterus. Of course she has a belly button.

As for ME2, that becomes hilariously easy if you make sure to upgrade all your weapons. The suicide mission becomes laughable because the Collector's barriers go down incredibly fast.

You need to be more careful on Insanity, but most battles were rather doable. The SM wasn't particularly hard compared to the Collector Ship and Garrus' recruitment mission. And then there was the thrice-damned Quarian Crash Site assignment. Couldn't beat it on Insanity with my Engineer. Only the Soldier worked.

Miranda is useful on any difficulty as she has both Warp and Overload and soon my Sentinel version of my canon Shepard will too.

It's odd. Sometimes Miranda dies fast, almost regardless of difficulty. Sometimes she's still up and running while I'm at 20% health and the other squadmate is dead.

It wouldn't be a bad idea if BioWare could let us hear some Miranda/Ash dialogue too.....

I don't like Ashley that much, but everyone here was licking their chops for some banter between the two. Especially for someone who romanced both. Miranda would probably fight with words and work Ashley up by playing to her jealous side.

Another missed opportunity. ME3 is so full of those. I guess any chance for that went down the drain when Miranda was sidelined to be kept out of the way of Shepard's missions. The cost/benefit ratio for such an exchange is too low if it only appears if you bring Ashley to Sanctuary.

It is still jarring that Ashley makes no comment on the woman Shepard has left her for when she meets her at last. Not a single line.

J/K! I think they'd come to a mutual understanding eventually, given that they're both so driven and ideal oriented. Hell, their ideals aren't even that far apart now that Miri hates cerberus too...

MIranda doesn't hate Cerberus. She regrets what it has become. As I see it, TIM has betrayed her ideals which were compatible with what Cerberus had been at some time. I don't think Ashley and Miranda will ever agree about humanity's path into the future.

On the other hand, I can see them coming to an understanding personally. They might even become friends. Some time ago, I posted this post-Reapers dialogue between them.

Ashley: You know, I'd kill to have what you have.
Miranda: That's funny.
Ashley: What? You know how hard it is to stay in shape when there's no war on? Takes me several hours a day. And you can just sit it out with your superior genes. Almost makes me wish there's a war on somewhere.
Miranda: Oh, I understand that part. What's funny is that I was just thinking the same thing.
Ashley: Don't tell me you want my hair, too. I'm hearing that several times a day.
Miranda: An intact family?
Ashley: Ah...sorry. Didn't think about that.
Miranda: No matter, it's an old wound. Besides, you may not be able to get it, but if my research pans out, I might be able to do something for your children.
Ashley: You're going into genetics research? After all your father did?
Miranda: In fact, I'd give it to you on a promise.
Ashley: Now I'm curious.
Miranda (smiles): That you love your children. Won't be a problem I guess.
Ashley: Ah....I get it. Strange, that. Impossible to imagine growing up like you. Alien. Me and my sisters, we might have thrown knives at each other at the age of ten, but in the end we've always stuck together. It's just normal.
Miranda: That's what I want for Oriana. Whether she wants it, we'll see.

Actually, being the XO means you stay on board when the CO is out.

Niket. My Shepards don't have a habit of f*cking up a standoff situation like that. I would've used a conversation option to convince her depending on my Shep, but physically interrupting her? Never. Besides, it's her decision, and my main Shepard tentatively agrees with her anyway.

Speaking of that scene, I started getting teary eyed when I say that on YouTube.

Its one of the reasons I think the Confession should have been about her infirtility rather than the control chip. She could just completely break in that scene. The strongest woman Shepard's ever known is brought to a teary confession about her inability to become pregnant and Shepard hugs and comforts her.
