To be fair I think Jacob is just incompetent and did something that hurt her, hence the fact she broke it off so quickly after it began.

But being the person she is, she still kept her promise and still cared.

Which makes me wonder if Jacob wanted a relationship for other purposes.

You mean he wanted a child. :o

I do recall Jacob saying she deserves (or needs?) a better man than him.

Entirely possible.

I'd imagine he'd be very upset with Miranda if he found out.

But I truly don't know.

Miranda main purpose in the game was to die, to make the new players feel sad about a character.

Considering the higher amount of sales will come from the established fan base I would say that this is false.

If this was the case she would have died regardless.

She was NOT forced into as big of a hole as Jacob,Thane, and Jack.

She has the second most stringent set of survival criteria, right behind Mordin.

Knowing how much objectively better and more put together the death scene is for Sanctuary compared to her survival counterpart, it's evident what Bioware's intention was.

Third.  Kelly Chambers.  And at least Shep doesn't ever shoot Miranda in anyone's playthrough!!

For Kelly all you need to do is have dinner with her in ME2, then have her change her identity in ME3.

For Miranda you need to affirm the romance*, give her Alliance resources, warn her about Kai Leng, speak to her before the coup, retain her loyalty from ME2, and play Sanctuary before the mission timer runs out. Once at Sanctuary, you need to use the P/R dialogue checks and deal with Henry diplomatically, or shoot Oriana.

*If the romance was started in ME2. That's at least 7 things you need to make sure to do.

Well Vents the thing is is that I had no idea Miranda could even die before I came here. I just thought she made it through just because.

Imagine my thoughts when I found out how easy it would be to mess up.

Not character-hate but I wonder how many people annihilated the geth for Tali. What a romantic gesture.

I don't think in Mordin's case it's even really survival criteria, so much as a side-effect of the genophage arc having different outcomes.

But you still have to perform certain actions in certain ways. That classifies as "criteria" in video game-speak.

Someone told me yesterday that someone made a life-sized ahem, "doll" of Tali. I think it's fair to say that many things occur with the Talimances I'd rather not know.

I think we're perfectly okay over here discussing the hilarity of role-playing night.

For Kelly:
Have dinner
Go through the relay right away (no more recruiting once the crew is captured)
Not yell at her about spying for the illusive man
Tell her to change her identity
Head canon that she didn't die anyways being on the citadel

Plus, a couple of those are non-intuitive.  Miri's stuff is pretty straight forward.  Just read your emails (to get kai leng stuff) and talk to Miri the 3 times she shows up.  I'm like Taboo in that I didn't know she could die.

Even though Tali does her best to convince me otherwise.  Stupid photo-faced tali...

Reprimanding her for Cerberus shouldn't have an effect on it. Either way, that's 4 criteria for Kelly compared to ~7 for Miranda. My math might be off, but 4<7.

She kills herself if you yell at her for cerberus.  That's the thing, each one of those decisioins results in her death/nonexistance individually...

I thought it was five. Six if romanced.

For Kelly or for Miranda? For Kelly it tops at around 5. For Miranda it is at LEAST 6 (if not romanced). If Miranda has been romanced, then it is 7.

He says that she deserves a better man than he.

Considering how attached she gets to Shepard I'd say she's found her man.

Oh man, that's gonna be tough on Miri when he goes back to AshPosted Image
I KEED!

Actually, that line always felt like the unofficial "start the romance" line for some reason to me.  Like, you've now seen that Miranda does care for people, even if she compartmentalizs it well, and she deserves a better man than Jacob.  So, you know, get on that Shepard.

No, don't talk to tali, her face is photoshopped!

Dude the romance unofficially starts when she touches Shepard after her loyalty mission.

She touches him and says that they can't let personal feelings get in the way of the mission.

And then in the next dialogue, the Paragon one, she days she wouldn't mind you admiring her body.

It at first appears that it's just to blow off steam but it turns into something else. The question we should ask is WHEN it turned into something else.

She does get back at Jacob though.

Anyone looking out that Armory window is going to see quite a show.

She doesn't really need to get back at Jacob though. As I understand it, she kinda ditches him? Did I misunderstand? I didn't really see the scene where Miranda says Jacob needs somebody better than her...

She doesn't seem to be trying to get back at him. Quite the contrary, she is helping him/keeping a promise to him (I guess she had said that she would help him find out what happened to his father if she ever had the chance).

Of course, if she knew what was waiting for them on that planet before they go, maybe she was trying to get back at him...
