I can't help but wonder how Bioware perceives the Miranda fanbase.

Something someone on another thread brought up regarding squadmembers was a new take on the phrases used to me anyway.

1. Permanent required squadmember (aka the confirmed guaranteed alive in every playthrough squad) which would mean Liara,VS.vega and a possible other new squadmate.

2. Permanent plot squadmate (which means squadmates that have plot relevant roles but may not be alive in everyones playthrough) Garrus, Tali since we know they're confirmed.

3. Temp squadmembers (squadmembers that we may get to use but only for a mission or two) Anderson looks like he may have a role like that.

4. Cameo but plot relevant characters (by the looks of things in the trailers) Mordin, Wrex, Legion may play this type of role.

5. cameo non plot important but important to a particular playthrough.

Now if you take the most positive interpretation of what bioware have said regarding squadmember roles being different this time round, things become a tad more positive regarding Miranda imo.

If you break down which role Miranda would play out of those 5 number 2 seems like it would be the most logical, while number 3 may be more likely.

But what if what we get is a basic permanent squad and then certain characters rejoin depending on certain conditions, for example if alive or romanced or if certain choices were made?

But if we romanced Miranda we don't get Jack or vice versa as a permanent but only a temp role. Miranda could still play a role if non romanced but after her temp mission she leaves to do other things and only if she's romanced would she stay and become permanent if you get me.

In some ways it fits into not spoiling the story so we're not telling yet and in others it creates a huge amount of replay options.

So would you accept a scenario where Miranda's role depends on whether she's an Li?

As I've said before, I would only accept that if it didn't mean that Miranda would be more important on the Galactic Stage had she not been romanced. That would be Shepard dragging her down and there's nothing I want less.

For example, do you think Wrex or Liara would have the roles they have now had they joined Shepard's crew?

I'd prefer it not be romanced based, as I prefer not to romance her. Beyond that, I want whatever affords her the most power and/or relevance.

If this is the only way to have her back on the Normandy as a permanent squadmate, YES.

The romance would just add to her story arc and not take away anything from it IMO
Then again I always romance her so I'm biased when I say I want her on the team

Ok in reality what role would Miri have on the Galatic Stage? By this i mean her plot importance imo is in relation to cerberus so say for example her temp mission is related to understanding Cerberus's reason's for working for the reapers and that's it, Without her you can still do this but with her its easier or something. I was going to say her role would be to help Shepard take down cerberus (but i doubt that'll happen until nearer the end of the game) and i''d like to see her way before then.

But unlike say Wrex, Miranda really shouldn't have a huge galatic role to play, she won't unite any species or bring allies to your side so galatically not as important but plot relevance more so (the cerberus thing again) i hope that makes sense.

As for Wrex well considering how they handled his death and the repurcussions of it is he actually that important?

Liara may be the SB but again how important that may be we just don't know, we think it will be but it may just mean little things overall.

As for Wrex and Liara having the roles they have if they had stayed with Shepard well the problem is that the roles were created to justify them not being so its a double edged question, are the roles they play actually important or just fillers to explain why they weren't with Shepard all along?
