I've never kept the base. Hence my curiosity.

Though if keeping the base meant keeping Miranda on Cerberus' good side, and then she didn't have to run from their assassins, she could totally join, right?

No? Because the plot says so? Okay :(

From the conversation in ME3, I gather that TIM tried to kill Miranda to "contain the situation", but Shepard's answer "He doesn't take rejection well" suggests it was Miranda's initiative to leave. So they basically made her leave off-screen after having retconned her to be Cerberus 2IC...

This makes sense......exactly how?

Mac Walters wrote Cerberus in ME3. You know this.

I'd imagine it had something to do with him Indoctrinating Soldiers. If you pay attention to some of the data pads it's made pretty clear that it isn't a pleasent process.

Miranda was also the head of a Cell and had quite a bit of information on him, at least more than most.

If your second in command just left, wouldn't you be worried too?

And I'm fairly certain he tried to sow seeds of discontent in her as well. She's simply more loyal to Shepard than she is him, especially if she's romanced.

I have the impression that Mac Walters liked Cerberus as they were in ME2 and that their going off the deep end and forcing TIM to be an enemy was Hudson's idea.

We can imagine it was something about indoctrinating soldiers, yes. But we have to make that up, they won't tell us. Why does Miranda not talk about this? I don't think it would have been a problem for anyone had she said she didn't want to follow TIM there. I hate that there isn't any in-depth exploration of Miranda and Cerberus. Her story feels incomplete without that.

You could fix her role in five minutes. After Leng is defeated, instead of the Renegade interrupt, Miranda shoots him in the back. "Sorry I'm late." Says something about Cerberus. Dramatic kiss with romanced Shep. Leave.

Sigh....the things that could've been :(

TIM: I'm making you second-in-command.

Miranda: Cerberus doesn't have a second-in command.

TIM: Exactly. Leng, deal with her.

Or:

TIM: Can somebody please tell me why none of our plans seem to be working? Anybody?

Tech: With all due respect sir, you're kind of scraping the bottom of the barrel with your choice in lieutenatnts.

TIM: Mister Leng is a perfectly capable...

(Tech pulls up a video feed of Shepard and Leng fighting on Thessia)

Leng: You're to slow Shepard! (realizes that Shepard just biotic charged right in front of him)  Oh god, Gunship help me!

TIM: That's only an isolated incident.

Tech: Sir he was bested by a terminally ill drell. I think that we've kind of been running on fumes since Lawson left.

@Ieldra

I can't say for sure, all I know is that he wrote Cerberus and made them into cartoon villains (TAKING CASUALTIES!).

I've had to sit and think about what Miranda's been doing to be honest with you. She being Miranda, it's just never brought up or even really discussed.

As it turns out, you need an iPhone or Android to even know she's actually making people talk to her and even that she cares. She DOES say something after the scene in the Apartment, you just need to have something entirely innocuous to the gameplay experience to know it!

But don't you think a big dramatic kiss would be...OUT OF CHARACTER???

^ The above comment is not to be taken seriously. Just an FYI.

I wholly disagree. Give us enough time and resources and watch us accomplish everything.
Shepard has done the impossible before.

The human form is limited. Therefore, by definition there are things outside those limits man can never comprehend. If we become something more than man, we might. But then we would not longer be human. We would be something else.

I am not opposed to this ascension (in fact, assuming we don't wipe ourselves out, I think such a thing is inevitable in some form or another). But it needs to be recongnized that we must transcend our own limits to get at things previously inaccessible to us and in doing so we abandon what we were.

For the record I don't believe Synthesis as described is a worthy ascension. But I won't start that debate here.

Again, I disagree. Hinting at higher motives is like a promise that at some point they will be revealed. I would have found it an epic disappointment if  "Reaperduction" was all there was to the cycle after all those hints that there's more. In fact, it would probably ruined the trilogy for me. An SF trilogy that ends up with nothing more interesting than "kill the monsters"? Boring. That's not why I'm a fan of SF. Any generic fantasy story will give me that.

Exactly. Where is man's desire to learn what is hidden in the shadows? Where is that spark of curiosity about what is out there that motivates Sci-Fi itself?

I don't want Shepard to give some speech about how the Reapers are unknowable gods. I want Shepard to speak on equal terms with Harbinger/The Catalyst/Leviathan and then figure out a solution to the problem that has plagued the galaxy for billions of years.

And don't bother pointing out the Reapers are the problem. I didn't specify which of the three solutions is the right one. There are enough places on this forum to discuss that.

I'm not saying Shepard can't have some interest in the Reaper's true motives, but it just shouldn't have been revealed.

And, as I said before, Nothing any writer could have ever created would fit the build up to their motives that we got. It would be utterly unsatiafying no matter what.

Well, I've always noticed since ME1 that he does have a nice ass. Ashley states this, like, 4 times. Plus, those suits are rather....flattering. lol

Outside of Commander, What would Miranda's name for Shepard be?

I remember the Suicide Mission Theme playing Live in front of an audience, and a Giant Screen was showing Footage of ME2. When Miri appeared on the Screen, someone in the Audience yelled out, "I LOVE YOU, MIRANDA!"

I'm pretty sure Miranda's other name for Shepard is...Commander.

Although I can see Garrus referring to them as Mr. and Mrs. Miranda Lawson.

Hey, Shepard shot the tube!  He saved the galaxy!  He's at least earned Mr. Shepard-Lawson!

In fact I think it's going to be one of those relationships were everyone knows they're together, but not because they'll be performing public displays of affection everywhere.

It's one of those "you just know" kind of things.

So Miri's character is gonna go backwards from showing PDA in the first meet-up?

Which is why Shepard will be absolutely pissed when the Council offers to host their wedding. Shepard will want to bash their faces in while Miranda keeps reminding him of the political nonsense of 'You don't want to ****** off  the council".

My film specialty is Nihilism. One of my favorite films ends with the protagonist paying someone to kill him. He's shot in the back and then the face and then the man who did it runs off. The tradegy is that it's done before he's ready and from behind.

I'm talking about those people who make everyone in the room know that they're in a relationship. The ones who makes obscenly loud noises when they kiss.

I don't think a hug or a kiss is out of the question. A full on snog with beast sounds is.

She called him a bastard in an affectionate manner for the most part on Horizon. When she asks him if he'll promise to be safe and replies that he can't.

I'm unsure that that would have much use though. That's the only time I've ever heard her say something other than Commander or Shepard.

What's the next step after bastard?

Bastard can be a term of endearment for Australians.

She could call him a...dipstick? I could just imagine her saying that...
