Well I've heard Englishmen use a very naughty word to describe their friends.

"You *unt!"

"WTF DID YOU CALL ME?

So I guess if bastard is affectionate for Australians it's better than nothing. It's certainly better than the other one.

Come to think of it, Where is Miranda from? Is she earth'born' or...?

She was born on Earth. Presumably Australia.

It still doesn't explain why Oriana has an accent.

I would think if he could create a person who had an Australian accent he'd have the ability to exert more control, especially if he's creating certain types of things in the brain.

Or it's just one of those things we'll have to guess about.

Actually, that word is generally frowned upon. Except maybe in Scotland...

I'd say so. She was born the year after the Charon relay discovery.

You know, her accent may not have been Australian. There could be a human settlement with mostly Australian ancestry, and so they have the same one. Only now the accent is Freedom's Progressian or something...

I doubt he had that kind of control. That's brain development and ete. Something that's learned more than anything.

I can't remember, but does Ori have an accent? I'd be willing to bet that, if she doesn't, its something Miri picked up from her time at Cerberus.

Oriana does have an accent, just like her sister. The entire Lawson family has one.

She would have been too young to start developing speech patterns when Miranda took her so I'm going to imagine that either she ended up with a family that just happened to have said accent or Bioware just goofed again.

Considering they couldn't give Henry a different last name, I'm calling goof.

They changed Miranda's last name when Miss Strahovski became involved.

It wouldn't make sense to have her speak with another accent and not have him have one too.

I know they change the name. I think it was Polish or something before they changed to Lawson.

Anyways, It could make sense for the above reasons. Miranda picked up the accent from her time at Cerberus, when she want through the identity change stuff, so Henry and Ori didn't have to have the same accent. Fridge Brilliance.

Also, as mentioned many moons ago, Henry shouldn't have the same last name as Miranda was trying to distance herself from him. Keeping the name wouldn't be logical then. Fridge Logic.

Worse yet it's mentioned at one point that Henry is the richest man in the Galaxy.

He had ample time to take Miranda back but he didn't.

And he even knew about her being in Cerberus because he stopped funding them after she ran.

She didn't get that close to TIM right away so more...wat.

Ok. He did stop funding Cerberus. I thought I had imagined that for some reason...

So, Why is he working for Mr. Illusive in ME3 then? Posted Image

The original last name was "Solheim" (Norwegian for "Sunhome")

I'm sure TIM bribed him with something. Oriana perhaps?

Cerberus needs funding. Why not use the richest man in the Galaxy to do so?

Still, It should have been stated.

I have a rule about this sort of stuff....

If its plothole worthy enough that you have the fanbase asking questions about it, You've failed as a writer.

I think more than anything he's there to finish her plotline in an attempt to give closure.

They wanted to make everything hamfisted so that we'd have enough closure when we got to the endings.

Narrative does not work this way. And that's a quote from one of the marketing directors by the way. "The whole game was one big goodbye."

not sure if srs

Well, I think Mr. Lawson's involvement in Cerberus makes sense and is not a bad way to round up her plot:
He still wants his dynasty and Cerberus is the biggest corperation you can just jump into with a lot of money. On top of that, Cerberus probably knows where Oriana is and hunts Miranda as well. He gets the best from all of it.

Now that Miranda breaks in there alone and confronts her father finally while rescuing Oriana is also great... on paper.
Then it just cuts off and Miranda leaves with Oriana. Would she have also been with Shepard on Cronos, her arc would be perfectly finished in my book.

And that last line "The whole game was one big goodbye." is so ridiculously stupid, it always makes me laugh a little

Somebody pointed out the similarity between Miranda Solheim and Mordin Solus (which can mean "bright/lucid") at one point. I found that interesting, given that they are my favorites.

Oh it makes sense, but it was handled in a less than satisfactory manner. I'd would have liked to have talked to the son of a **** before Miranda threw him out the window. I can understand her desire to do it emotionally and tactically (defenestration is a great way to kill villains) but the entire sequence is rushed.

At least you get to spend SOME time with her before she simply vanishes.

Where are you going to take Oriana Miranda? Where? Where is she going to be safe?

She should have joined the squad...

To their base, maybe, I guess. I admit, it's kind of a cool possibility.

Sure, all this could have been fleshed out a little more and as I said, there is no denying she was missing on Cronos.

The basic idea (on paper) remains to be great, however.
It's more lost potential  than nonsense to wrap up the character. That's what I wanted to point out.

Well no one is really safe anywhere so you might as well bring her to Earth.

It would have been nice to have a goodbye at the beam like everyone else.

That would have been hard to watch.

I agree that it's easy to take the basic storyline and turn it into something truly awesome. I'm not sure if that makes it better, or just more frustrating. But, anyway, I agree.
