Hey, I didn't join these forums until after the ending made me rage. What happened to Miranda in the leaked script? How much would I have hated it?

But, honestly, Miranda + Project Pheonix = GORGIOUS GORGIOUS DLC POTENTIAL!

*swimming in the potential*

Which means it likely won't happen. There was also potential for a Cerberus arc with Miranda, and it didn't happen. A Cerberus arc for Jack (No, Grissom Academy is not a Cerberus arc for Jack), and that didn't happen. An Omega arc for Aria, and that may or may not be reserved for DLC (Because nickel and diming your playerbase is the new way to show that you care). The possibilities of having a Cerberus arc at all could have worked wonders, but what happens? They're turned into space n**is.

My point is that if you see something even remotely obvious, don't bother pointing it out, because Bioware won't do it.

/rant

I'm holding out hope for a role in Omega DLC with a cerberus flavor that can work around fact she might be dead as unfortunately can't see her getting her own dlc.

Yep, that's how I see it. Let Miranda retain some of her pragamatism, the willingness to go a little beyond what your typical "good guy" wood approve of.

I don't know if there'll be any more Miranda content, but if so, then I hope they'll move her away from the conventional template they squeezed her in.

It is also, imo, just better not to try to pretend that there is only good and evil in the world, because when you do funny things tend to happen.

For example, the crit path of this game (excluding the Genophage and Geth/Quarian portions, which are the parts written by Weekes, Dombrow, Sylvia F., and maybe others), is primarily a juvenile revenge fantasy, attempting only to appeal to the basest of the player's instincts (the bad guy frustrates you a bit, and maybe kills a friend or two, and then you kill him).

There's really nothing "good" about it.

It doesn't really work even on that simplistic level because Leng is so poorly handled.

It's basically the same type of thing that Whedon does in The Avengers, where Loki makes all these condescending speeches and frustrates everybody for a while, then finally gets the crap kicked out of him.

But there are important differences. One is that Loki is just a much better character and antagonist than Leng.

But another really important one is that Whedon understands how the revenge fantasy works, but he doesn't really believe in it. So, Loki gets his outlandish beatdown, but he isn't really hurt by it, and everybody stops by later to basically confirm that this is just for fun and not really to be taken seriously. Loki's actual punishment will come later, when he is put on trial.

So, there are ways to handle it that give the player/viewer satisfaction without insulting the intelligence.

It could have been worse.

She could have been stuck behind a desk...doing dictation.

And I'm not just joking around either. I wouldn't be surprised if Walters delegated her role to Secretary that just happens to be banging the main character.

Sterotypes! Stereotypes everywhere!

Not to mention that Loki isn't the only antagonist. The squad need to work out their differences as well.

The leaked script was similar to the game, but minus a few last-minute tweaks. There were also a couple of early story drafts leaked, which had bigger differences, but were not really fleshed out like the script.

She would do the much lauded "Glare".

I also recall a screenshot of Miranda holding a Viper sniper rifle during Garrus' recruitment in ME2 while wearing her AAP2 armor. I imagine that might also take place.

Yeah, a lot of rage and denial. We couldn't believe they did what they did. There had to be some missing scene or something. Only there wasn't.

It COULD have been worse.

She could have ended up in a role like Jacob.

Yeah, She could have cheated on us and gotten knocked up.

Shepard: Miranda , But-We were together! I love you!

Miranda: Yeah, but you left me for 6 months and I got horny.

Shepard: How is this even possible? YOU'RE INFERTILE! HOW ARE YOU PREGNANT?!

Miranda: Don't ask me. I don't write this bull****.

And Jacob's role contains things I'd expect from Miranda. "Was I blind?" etc. Really, they could do worse and replace Brynn with her, minus the pregnancy.

I actually thought Miranda's romance content was decent.

But almost everything else just turns into this gigantic LOLWUT?

There seems to be fairly widespread agreement on that. I agree.

As to the rest, I think it's basically because the devs who wanted to do something less one-dimensional with Cerberus (and therefore Miranda) lost that argument.

Walters didn't really want this portrayal of Cerberus, probably, but to be lead writer he had to get onboard with the utter demolition of the organisation. Miranda's romance and her survival are really the only good things about her role because they are the only parts that are a concession to the other side of that argument.

I think that was the deal. More or less.

Her content is DECENT, espicially considering she's in the best condition of the ME2 Romances, but its still significantly lacking all around.

The only real issue i have with the romance content is the lack of closing sequence after the fade to black.

The weakness of her story arc is the problem.
