My Shepard is an Earthborn, Sole Survivor.

Yeah, mine too. That was my first one at least.

I don't play games as much as others so I really only have one version of my canon Shepard. He's going to be switiching classes here soon though, just to change things up a bit.

But the next film job I got is actually in town, so I'm going to be here for longer than I thought I was.

But it's Lewis and Clark related.

But it means I'll have time at the end of the day to play more.

Oriana is not Miranda. That's just the thing. Oriana grew up in a completely separate environment. She'll never "be" like her sister.

Or she can go into colony development, like she was planning to do before the war.

In the early draft for the game if Miranda died in ME2 or in Sanctuary Oriana turns the facility into an actual refugee camp.

I'd rather not think about that place in that context. I can see it being razed to the ground to be honest with you.

Once people find out what happened there...

I half expected Mr. Lawson to give a Welcome to City 17 speech for people coming to Sanctuary. If the guy's obsessed with leaving his mark on history then portraying himself as the savior of the refugees coming to Horizon would work.

Good game Half Life, a pity they still haven't released the third episode or a sequel yet...

But your idea would make sense, and most things post Thessia simply go down the perpetual toilet.

I think Henry would have seen his funding of this project as a good thing IF The Illusive Man could have succeeded in Controlling the Reapers.

TIM had no need of him past his money.

He and Miranda need to have a son first. And don't you dare throw the 'Miranda is infirtile' arguement at me. There WILL be Shepard/Miranda babies, dammit!

Agreed...
I like to head-canon that her infertility gets healed
OR
Shepard convinces Miranda that genetic tailoring is a good thing and they combine their genes to create a baby. If anyone can convince Miranda, it's Shepard.

We're never explicitly told HOW she's infertile.

It may be something as common as Fibroids. She may very well have tumors on her uterus.

You can fix that now.

She hasn't done much past learning that she was infertile.

What's strange is that Dr. Cole talks about how TIM devoted the bulk of Cerberus' resources to the production of some sort of device and how after each component was completed and delivered the cell that produced it would disappear.

Considering that TIM's ultimate objective was to control the Reapers wouldn't it have made sense to have that device be his means of achieving that goal? Overlord could have been a technical exercise to see if a group of AIs could be controlled by an single individual and the salvaged proto-Reaper would be able to give Cerberus an idea of how the Reapers functioned.

Henry's control signal and the Crucible's ability to transmit energy across the entire relay network would be a viable method of establishing control from a centralized Overlord-style device on the Citadel. Of course getting a big neural interface device onto the Citadel without anybody noticing would require a diversion, in which case the Citadel Coup would work nicely.

I really wanted Control to be the "Cerberus" ending to the game, something along the lines of letting the Council die in ME1 to give humanity a more powerful position on the galactic stage. Being pragmatic versus being a James Bond villain.

It wouldn't have really mattered as TIM was indoctrinated. As soon as he started implanting himself with Reaper tech it was over.

Whatever goals he had became lessened and he became a pawn for the Reapers. The Reapers like to Indoctrinate a powerful force each cycle, much like they did with the Protheans.

What's to say that Cerberus wasn't a viable option for them?

TIM has had Reaper tech in him since the Evolution Comic, at least that's what I've been told. His eyes change. Someone brought this up yesterday and I thought it was at least worth a look.

I like to think that the Arca Monolith is what started the indoctrination process for TIM, and the formation of Cerberus was the first action he took under the Reaper's influence. Vendetta says there is always an indoctrinated splinter group in each cycle, so who's to say the Reapers themselves aren't creating those groups (at least indirectly)?

Thanks for that. All I needed was that image in my head.

I guess now what we'll have some sort of family now.

Miranda, Shepard and Oriana.

Not a bad thing. All three of them technically stem from broken families in my game so I guess this MIGHT turn out to be a good thing.

Broken, Disjointed, but closer than ever before.

I can feel the art now.

Well, my Shepard is a Spacer, but I headcanon it more that he and his parents were never close, and he joined the Alliance more as an attempt to gain their respect.

I remember trying to get to Level Sixty before I imported for the first time in ME3.

Interesting idea, but letting me go all the way to level five wasn't much of a motivator for slogging through the game more than once. I did do it though.

That Shepard never reached ME3 though. He's still sitting in my Xbox somewhere.

I'm buying a new one though, just because more people here play on the 360. Might as well go where more people are.

Ugh. I've played it twice so far and I'm working on my third. The first was Fem!Shep and the second was my Fixed!Custom!Bro!Shepard who I want to get to level 60 before import but they apparently don't have enough stuff to get me to level 60 in one playthrough. : (

Gah. So.....Boring.......Dying.......of......Boredom.............Can't...wait....for.....Miranda......

Plus, I think Ori wouldn't care and wants to be with Miranda because...What is the liklyhood that Henry left Ori's foster family alive? Ori may have witnessed their deaths.

Ugh. That just gives a whole new level to how shaken up she is at Sanctuary....

We don't seem to know what happened to them.

I believe if you miss the docking bay meeting and do the second conversation, Miranda says, "My father somehow found her and kidnapped her. Right off the street."

Sounds like a grab-and-run operation. I assume she'd say something different if there'd been a load of violence or if something had happened to the family. Then again, Miranda isn't always forthcoming with the details.

Would be pretty tragic if Oriana had been snatched away just before Reapers invaded and harvested the family...

I guess it's possible that the unfulfilled plot threads like that (there are a few others, mostly in the Cerberus missions) are related to other ideas they had about how the endings would work.

Since they were never fleshed out, it's hard to say what they might have been. But possibly, as you suggest, elements of research and technology gathered from the Cerberus missions were going to allow you to Control the Reapers as TIM had intended.

It could be that the original focus was on two endings: destroy and control (basically Paragon/Renegade). It seems plausible, given that these two options are much more deeply embedded in the main story of the game, whereas Synthesis comes across more as an afterthought or last-minute addition.

It's nice to see someone feels the same way.

What if Cerberus is nothing more than that?

A fascinating thing to think about.

Hey, you did one! Nice.

So I uh, watched the death scene, thanks to o Ventus here...

It's a lot like the break up scene.

From a meta-gaming perspective it gives some very emotional insight.

It's just absurd that the best content was reserved for her being so upset or DYING.

^ I also heard that people suddenly stopped being gay in that book. Sexuality doesn't work that way.

Apparently autism is also curable in that novel.

I think those are just two of the issues I heard brought up about that book.

It's actually a rather offensive notion that autism is a disease that needs to be cured...

In my opinion, David Archer is honestly one of the most heroic characters in the series.

Isn't Deception getting a major rewrite for simply how godawful it was with the lore?

You know, if Miranda ever has to comfort Oriana, it may sound a little odd.

"I'm sorry, Ori" or "Ori, I'm sorry." :P

Yep. It's also funny how Bioware was so enthusiastic about Deception. Casey Hudson had posted on twitter something like "Oh man, this is awesome! You fan's will love reading Deception!"

https://docs.google....?pli=1&sle=true is a list of everything wrong with Deception.

It's because the crit path of the game is intended to be a morality tale about how being normal is the greatest/only thing humanity can or should aspire to be.

Miranda is offensive to a certain reactionary/conservative sensibility, and so her death was a priority for the part of the dev team that is defined by that sensibility.

And that is why I will always be loyal to Miranda. Because I know which side of that argument I want to be on.
