^ I also heard that people suddenly stopped being gay in that book. Sexuality doesn't work that way.

Apparently autism is also curable in that novel.

I think those are just two of the issues I heard brought up about that book.

It's actually a rather offensive notion that autism is a disease that needs to be cured...

In my opinion, David Archer is honestly one of the most heroic characters in the series.

Isn't Deception getting a major rewrite for simply how godawful it was with the lore?

Yes, I very much agree. I grew up in the psychology world (my mother caused me a lot of issues) and I encountered Autistic children from time to time.

Marvelous people. I knew one who had a fascination with Dinosaurs, just like I did as a child.

I'm not Autistic, but I can certainly tell you that they're NOTHING like the media portrays them.

David Archer is a great character (although he seems to have a Super Autism, which is a sterotype) and in many ways I think he's a shining example of why things can be taken to far in the name of progress.

But yes, the book is being fixed to some degree. I haven't read any of the books, but from what I've been lead to understand it's just AWFUL.

It's because the crit path of the game is intended to be a morality tale about how being normal is the greatest/only thing humanity can or should aspire to be.

Miranda is offensive to a certain reactionary/conservative sensibility, and so her death was a priority for the part of the dev team that is defined by that sensibility.

And that is why I will always be loyal to Miranda. Because I know which side of that argument I want to be on.

But this is the fascinating thing flemm, she was so well written in ME2 that all sorts of people could like her. That wasn't the case in ME3.

I'm certainly not conservative, but I can tell you that depending on who you talk to, you can have a variance of opinion on what constitutes being human, especially in the art medium.

I'm partial to the want and drive to excel, but also to the fact that we are, at the end of the day, human. Perfection is a goal, not an established fact. Miranda is an example of this. It doesn't matter how hard you try, you're going to make mistakes.

Apparently. No mention has been made since the initial statement however.

That's from the film Stalker. It's a Science Fiction film by Andrei Tarkovsky. Ieldra still hasn't seen it.

That's the main theme.

I completely agree, as an autistic individual myself, it's safe to say that we definitely aren't all Rain Main, despite what the media tries to portray us as being such. We have as much fallibility as anyone else, even if we are on the side of the bell-curve that makes us high-functioning autistic (which I'm lucky to be among).

Odd? Yes. Quirky? Definitely. Brilliant? Naturally... but Rain-Man? Yeah, not so much...

I completely agree. David is a great character which shows that despite all the genetic engineering that is present in the setting, sometimes trying to fix a problem, ends up making you lose something wonderful in the process.

Who is arguably acts the most human? David with his autism... or the completely normal Gavin Archer?

By the way, talking of genetic engineering, in my head-canon, I believe that Miranda suffers from mild hayfever. We know that Henry Lawson is the sort of person who would never stop to sniff the roses, makes sense to me that he'd never even considered this would be an issue with his daughters.

I really do need to write that fan-fiction that's knocking around my brain...

Yeah. The wrong people got their say about where Miranda's story went. I'm the same as you: I could walk away and accept that the writers wanted to turn her into a character I don't like any more, but how she was written in ME2 has enough weight to make me stay and say the ME3 writers got her wrong.

It's really strange - the same team that mutilated Miranda also gave us the Synthesis ending... very odd.

Yeah, and I think Walters tweeted something about finding the second edition good.

I should probably go buy as many first editions as I can. They'll make a fortune twenty years from now.

I've grown quite attached to Psychology in recent years. Alice is one of my favorite games for a reason. I love examining things to the very details of details. Its...facinating. I've also had a rather poor relationship with my 'mother'. Interesting councidence.

Funny, I actually have a cousin whos autistic and he's very much worse off than David. To be honest, I wouldn't have known David was autistic if they hadn't said it. I'm so used to my cousin being as he is; its such a contrast between the two.

If Miri had the chance to be a Mother, which she does, she would be an excellent Mother.

Sadly all you say is true and it is not even a well done morality tale. I too will be loyally sticking with Miranda and never allowing her to die in my playthroughs.

Renegade Shep was an Ashley man in ME1 but transitioned to Miranda in ME2 when the sexual tension got too hot to handle. Even with her disappointingly underutilised presence in ME3, I found myself growing to like her a lot more. Now even though my Shep kept both romances (Miri and Ash) going, I found Miranda's to be much more satisfying. More dimensional. I was pretty surprised.

I'm bored at work. :(

There's only so many motor pool inspection release forms I can sign off on.

I've been on an 18 hour shift for the last 4 hours. 14 hours to go.

Oh no, an inconsistent consistency has to do with Miss Strahovski's acting, not you.

Not even she can escape it's maws.
