Can't help but wonder how Aishwarya Ashland fits into this theory. Was she ever discussed?
Could be that the image she gives to the Galaxy of a brainless and red-sand addicted socialite is a cover and she is actually a "Perfect Lawson". The problem with this is that she appears to be older than nineteen.

No, she was never discussed. But there is always a scenario to fit her in, if you want to do that. Miranda might not know everything about her family, and I can imagine her father might have kept her in the dark about many things.

But, if Miranda's father heads Eldfell-Ashland, then Aishwarya Ashland is Miranda's niece. It's mentioned that she's the granddaughter of Jonah Ashland, who's CEO of Eldfell-Ashland.

(sources: Cerberus Daily News, Mass Effect wiki)

Edit:
When I read the timeframes involved, it makes more and more sense to connect Miranda to Eldfell-Ashland. EAE was founded by Jonah Ashland and made its breakthrough as early as 2137 - far enough back for the project to start that would eventually result in Miranda and Oriana. Another CDN entry mentions that Jonah Ashland made No. 1 in Noveria News' list of "CEOs Not To Mess With" in 2185.

MisterJB wrote...
Or Miranda could just be an Eldfell.

That's the easiest solution. But then Miranda's father would not head EAE. Perhaps he's majority owner, that would fit the picture as well.

For those who enjoy fanfic, is there a type of story you want to see that you're not? I actually don't read that much because I'm not finding what I want. Spy dramas, adventure stories, in-character fluff.

I regret the lack of those you mention as well. Apart from that, good maleShep/Miranda stories. I'm getting so fed up with all the femShep/Miranda stuff.

I like femShep/Miranda in theory, but I've yet to read a good one. Quality Miranda femslash is rare in general.

I still don't think Miranda is either an Ashland or an Eldfell, why use the extranet to find news on them anyway?? Legion said that he can monitor unencrypted extranet transmissions and clearly the SB got hold of a lot of data aboard the Normandy which makes me think Miranda would never risk doing something like this on an unencrypted connection... but I find the fact that the SB got all this info from the Normandy to be entire bullsh!t anyway, I mean he got a video of Jacob working out in the armory?? someone's gotta be a SB agent in order for him to get such stuff.

He might not have gotten Miranda's info from the Normandy. After all, I expect our team members to do their own thing while docked or landed and not on a mission. Also, a extranet search isn't exactly something suspicious, and she has no reason to hide her interest from others on the Normandy or TIM.

I agree about the stuff in the dossiers from the Normandy though.

All in all, the dossiers are mostly over-the-top and silly. Intentionally so I think, but I find it more annoying than funny. I wish we could ignore them all and relegate them to the "misinformation bin".

This, pretty much this... I mean unless TIM uses a space brothel to get down with that Matriarch of his I can't think of a way how the SB would know about his sexual liaisons (at least not all of them), OR he's actually that close and he should have assassinated him long ago like he wished.

Although, I agree with Ieldra2 on most of the dossiers, I like the Legion one. It's too much comendy gold that I can't ignore.

And I like Garrus' if only because it expands on his character.

The rest sucks.

Gotta agree with you there.  The few femShep/Miranada pieces I've read were not what I was hoping for.

Legion't dossier comedy gold? Personally, I tought it was one of the most touching ones.

MASSEFFECTfanforlife101 wrote...

I tought they focused too much on appeasing those who tought her too cold. Giving her the infertility problem, buying "girly" things like "After Dark Fashions" (which is actually kind of cute) or "Men are from Omega, Women are from Illium" (which should have been romance exclusive) while at the same time having her give up of things like "BioTech Research Quarterly".
I would have much preferred some acounts of her previous missions for Cerberus or some window into her childhood. Well, at least we have her chat with Oriana.

Don't remind me, MisterJB. I hate, hate, HATE the dossier, apart from Oriana's chat. I wish to utterly destroy its contents and wipe the brain of everyone who's ever seen it.

Well I would like to see info on Miri's childhood. We know many things about other characters. So why can't we learn more about Miri?

And I haven't actually read Miri's Dossier yet. I haven't reached that point in time where I play LOTSB.

I meant the gamer thing. I put that in my fic to give Legion some more characterization than just being a lawn ornament.

The EDI/Legion conversation was nice though.

I actually liked a few things from Miranda's dossier. Interestingly enough, I don't like her conversation with Oriana though. The fashion subscription, I did like because it showed that she's a little more complex than we give her credit for; you know, indulge herself and relax.

Miri buying things like After Dark Fashions is sexy.

The only part about the dossier I dislike is the subscription and vid book stuff. Don't mind the infertility per se, but I resent it being reduced to a sympathy card. I'd have made it explicit that Lazarus was her way of overcoming it. More than one way to create life. Yes it makes the romance creepy, but I don't care.

Yes, but unsubscribing a scientific journal at the same time is NOT cool.

As for the infertility: I had hoped, for ONCE in the history of popular entertainment, that something like this would not happen. And if they don't give me a way around it in ME3, I'll consider it an epic failure.

When I found out about Miri's Infertility, a felt...sad. That's as simple as I can say it.

I can only imagine how devastated Miri must have been when she was told the horrible news.:(

For the record, I don't hate Miranda's dossier. I just tought it was dissapointing and not aimed at her fans.

So did I, actually.
Both his choices of games and his scores can be quite an insigth on the Geth mentality.
They show that the Geth still resent what the Quarians did to them 300 years ago but that, despite this, they still wish to extablish amicable relations with them. They just don't know how.
It also shows that the true Geth regret the actions of the Heretics.

I still like Lazarus being Miranda's way of saying "screw you" to the infertility.

Not enough. I want her to be able to pass on her gifts. By technology, if necessary. Also it does make the romance creepy, and as opposed to you I do care about that.

^ Perhaps those in the Lazarus Cell will Join Miri. With Miri convincing them to leave Cerberus, assuming she resigned (which she does for me).

The Lazarus Cell can possibly find a way to fix Miri's Infertility, not a cure, but in a different way.

Nooooooo.........that would be the worst scenario ever, even worse than Miranda staying sterile. We aren't in fantasyland here.

Yes, I'm hoping for an epilogue that hints at that possibility.

What if the entries on the dossier are placed by chronological order? That would mean miranda received her medical reports after the Lazarus project was concluded.  The clinic was on Illium, after all.
