(It’s painfully obvious that the writing of ME2 specifically blocked out all reasonable response by the SA in order to prop up Cerberus’ role. Suspension of disbelief is one thing, but a little source criticism would be expected before you try to actually start ‘analyzing’ it.)

Well, I don't know. We can play that game all day. The Alliance should have done this. Cerberus should have been portrayed like that. And so on.

I don't think one can really write off what Cerberus accomplished in ME2 anymore than one can just ignore the inhumane experiments from ME1 (and they aren't ignored).

Yeah i find the Alliance reponse ignorant but quite plausible. When you have blinkers on it is quite easy to blame everything on the current boogeyman of choice aka cerberus, the real world has plenty of instances of that.

Yeah, what flemm said (again...) If you're talking about reasonable responses, it's odd that only Liara seems keen on tracking down Shepard's body. There are hundreds of things at which you could pick and fuss.

Personally, I like the concept of Cerberus in terms of dramatic potential. They're not knights in shining armour, but then, that's the whole idea. It creates conflict and complexity. The idea of humans being the new guys in the galaxy is a fascinating topic, and when you've got things like the Council-sanctioned genophage already in existence, being able to give the turian's a black eye upon first (well, second) contact doesn't mean much.

The portrayal from ME1 to ME2 may seem like an odd jump, but so did a lot of things. And I'd rather see a multi-faceted organisation than one where you were constantly cleaning up their failed experiments. It's probably more a personal thing but I like stories that involve that idea of conflict over working for the greater good, even if it's against your principles.

And what I really liked about ME3 was that it explored the darker sides to its council races as well. It added more depth and complexity into the politics of the galaxy and made for far more interesting stories.

Indeed we can.

I don't think one can really write off what Cerberus accomplished in ME2 anymore than one can just ignore the inhumane experiments from ME1 (and they aren't ignored).

By that logic, we can write nothing off. That’s fine, I suppose, but it’s not really my point.

My point is that the entire premise of ME2, that Cerberus is the only party that’s in any way involved in tracking the Collectors, is ludicrous (remember, tens of thousands of people missing—and with a history of batarian raids, for example! The media would be all over it).

Now, I can let that go in the spirit of suspension, and just enjoy the story as it is, but where I draw the line is when someone starts trying to present this as some kind of de facto evidence that Cerberus is in some way needful; that type of analysis can only be based on solid world building, and ME2 fails at that.

That’s gorgeous…but is it just me, or does Miranda have by far the highest amount of fan art that (intentionally) alters her appearance? Not that I mind, in particular, I just find it interesting. And I suppose I could make a genetic engineering analogy/joke about it too.

Hmm, I couldn't say I've seen enough to actually make that observation. Interesting. Do you mean as in body shape or just different drawing styles?

I know she inspires a lot of artists in *ahem* 'different ways' :?

Started a new story.

The Chip
Miranda breaks in to see Shepard, but not for the reason you might think. This will be more Shepard-centric than my usual, so I hope you like brilliant, impulsive womanizers. Reviews appreciated more than usual.

Well, as a couple of other posters have already suggested, the whole series really fails at that, as many people who are very invested in worldbuilding have pointed out to their frustration.

But that's because it is primarily an exercise in storytelling, not really in worldbuilding (or only secondarily).

So, it's not really a question of needing to establish that Cerberus is important or necessary in some kind of abstract way, but simply that it was important *then*, at that moment, in this particular story.

Guys, have you seen this?

Image IPB

Looks awesome and it's available for pre-order. The next statue Sideshow is suppose to do is Thane, how great would it be if they did one of Miranda as well?

Is that the figure the Square-Enix Company created, or is this a Different Company? Square-Enix is creating VERY Nice-Looking Figures. Hopefully a Miri Figure will be made. They should make EVERY Character.

I already have the "Big Fish Toys" Miri Figure.

I feel slapped in the face about Thane getting a statue.

You kill off my best bro and my Fem!Shepard's LI, You throw his character development out the window, You kill him in a linear maner, The guy who wrote him goes on about doing justice to his character development and wanting to write an assassin, AND THEN YOU TRY AND SELL A STATUE/ACTION FIGURE TO ME?! Your post was laced, not mine.

I was talking about Roger Waters again...the guy from Pink Floyd.

And she put him to bed between two bits of bread...
