(It’s painfully obvious that the writing of ME2 specifically blocked out all reasonable response by the SA in order to prop up Cerberus’ role. Suspension of disbelief is one thing, but a little source criticism would be expected before you try to actually start ‘analyzing’ it.)
Well, I don't know. We can play that game all day. The Alliance should have done this. Cerberus should have been portrayed like that. And so on.
Indeed we can.
I don't think one can really write off what Cerberus accomplished in ME2 anymore than one can just ignore the inhumane experiments from ME1 (and they aren't ignored).
By that logic, we can write
nothing off. That’s fine, I suppose, but it’s not really my point.
My point is that the entire premise of ME2, that Cerberus is the only party that’s in any way involved in tracking the Collectors, is ludicrous (remember, tens of thousands of people missing—and with a history of batarian raids, for example! The media would be all over it).
Now, I can let that go in the spirit of suspension, and just enjoy the story as it is, but where I draw the line is when someone starts trying to present this as some kind of de facto evidence that Cerberus is in some way needful; that type of analysis can only be based on solid world building, and ME2 fails at that.

Oh, dorkynoodle's piece is finished now. Very nice.
That’s gorgeous…but is it just me, or does Miranda have by far the highest amount of fan art that (intentionally) alters her appearance? Not that I mind, in particular, I just find it interesting. And I suppose I could make a genetic engineering analogy/joke about it too.
