Nothing will ever match that thing.

I'll stick with real women thanks.

Far less shame involved.

And they wash themselves. Bahahahaha.

What are YOU talking about? :P

Your post was laced, not mine.

I was talking about Roger Waters again...the guy from Pink Floyd.

And she put him to bed between two bits of bread...

I love Wodge as much as the next guy, but Radio K.A.O.S is... almost unlistenable. Same with 'Hitch-hiking'. Thematically and lyrically, they're great. Musically... meh

Amused to Death is a great album though.

As I'm sure you dislike the Gilmour led Floyd, Division Bell was a great album. I can hardly listen to 'Lapse of Reason' though.

A lot of his stuff is unbalanced. Radio K.A.O.S has some good stuff on it, as does Hitchhiking, but the true piece of work IS Amused to Death, as he finally focused himself on that one.

Pink Floyd suffered without Waters but Division Bell is really underrated.

When Waters and Gilmour weren't at each others throats, they did some amazing work together.

Oh god...

The FEELS

Sent shivers down my spine.

Damn, Same here :?

But this was worse

The first was uplifting and inspiring.

The second was... I have a fic idea that has Shepard being the only survivor of the Reaper war from his team or anyone in particular. Everyone else is dead. The only companion he has is Urz, and he lives a lot like Charles Foster Kane.

Kane had some serious issues dating back to his childhood. The one thing he could never reclaim...Rosebud...

The man he was based off of, William Randolph Hearst had a girlfriend who had a certain body part named Rosebud.

Your Shepard lives in a Mansion with a hall of mirrors? NICE.

Rosebud was symbolic! SYMBOLISM! ARTISTIC INTEGRITY!

He dies young, or relatively young (mid-40's) and his last moments are of peace and clarity as he sees that though his life has been one of misery and damnation, he finally see's the hope that he bought for the galaxy. He pretty much commits suicide knowing that death will finally allow him to achieve his peace.

And this is an AU. It's not my actual Shepard. This is just a one shot

Dawg Rosebud was a MacGuffin and the right way to pull off a twist.

They still teach that **** in film school.

We did. A frame by frame analysis once. Oh. My. God. It took two weeks to watch the film.

By the way, Bioware said that it takes ten to fifteen years to rebuild in all of the endings.

I think that that's a great time frame to wait for Miranda to have a child, and then bring one in when the world is close to being rebuilt.

And I think I'll do that.

Rosebud is more significant than a MacGuffin.

The entire point of the film is to find out what his last words were.

It is both symbolic AND a MacGuffin.

But it is NOT Orson Welles best movie. Yeah, I said it.

Orson Wells wasn't in Transformers.

He was in The Transformers: The Movie.

Though I can see why you'd get him and Shia confused :)

I meant movies he directed. Even Touch of Evil is better than Citizen Kane.

I hope to God they saved them in Mass Effect 3. The old film vaults would be in trouble. I suppose they have digitized them by now.

Also, this is required viewing for Orson Welles fans. It's short. but hilarious.

I see what you're saying. 'Dawg Rosebud is a MacGuffin' sounded like a disagreement, so apologies if I misinterpreted that.

Though, a MacGuffin is precisely that by being interchangable or mostly irrelevant, and, personally, I feel that rosebud does not fit the criteria. By having some larger relevance beyond driving the story, I don't think it can be symbolic and a MacGuffin.

I'd understand if you disagree though. And I think everyone would probably prefer if we discuss Miranda....

It's been debated for well over seventy years now. People are still debating it. It does drive the story along, and is the main focus of the plot. Who was he? What was Rosebud?

As it turns out, Rosebud was everything he couldn't have. It drives both the plot AND represents something.

Such was the genius of Orson Welles.

I can't think of a Miranda topic at the moment, give me one.

Topic:
If Miranda had had a slightly more normal upbringing(though with her same genetics and abilities), and had never gone to cerberus, what would she have done with her life? Alliance intelligence? Private practice/freelance? Or do you think she winds up at cerberus no matter what?

Yeah, and I can see why it is debated. My standpoint is that a MacGuffin is far more simplistic in nature...though I would not object to the choice of MacGuffin having some larger impact or relevance. It just seems like something different altogether.

That may be more about splitting hairs, like the 'femme fatale' discussion.

Umm...time for a segue, uh...what childhood toys would Miranda have had?

(That's all I got).

Interesting!

Without giving it too much thought (you're welcome!), I would say, in that 'two sides of the same coin' way, she could've wound up like Jack...although, given her upbringing, more like Aria maybe?

EDIT: Wait, I really did not give that any thought. Just read that as 'if she didn't go to Cerberus'. Apologies!

Guess that's my cue to go get some sleep...

She'd go into some kind of scientific field probably. That's the best I can think of. I don't think she's the type that's suited for military life.

She wasn't even allowed friends so I can imagine that she didn't even have a small horse she could ride around in her father's house.

Some people are not meant to be parents.

All she mentions is that she had to meet impossible demands. That leaves room for...speculations.

What kind of demands did she need to meet?

"Keep Talking" is my favorite off DB. It's a song about how despite millenia of evolution and learning to communicate, we still can't solve our problems because we don't want to sit down and talk about our issues.
