As for what role she could play on the galactic stage, restructuring the remnants of Cerberus into something that helps Shepard. And I don't see why she should be a permanent squaddie only if she's a LI.

"The only things I can take credit for are my mistakes" broke my heart and wanting to soothe her somehow is why I'm here, along with her competence. But what does that coming to terms look like?

I can't help but feel it all points back to her father. He very much is her origin. He's stamped his authority on her. Designed her.

He'll always be the ghost behind every move she makes until she deals with him. One way or another.
