To be honest, I think if Drew Karpyshyn had stayed and he and Mac had worked TOGETHER, Mass Effect 3 would have been as good as Mass Effect 2 (if not better). Patrick Weekes on the other hand is a FANTASTIC writer, just look at how beautifully written Mordin is! Although I don't understand why BioWare didn't bring back Michael Beattie to do his voice... Eh, i'm rambling.

Thanks Anatoly.

I think a lot of things would have been better had Karpyshyn stayed.

Walters went to school for seven years. Seven. He violated a BASIC rule.

I'm glad they retconned his dark age bull**** and Patrick Weekes gave everyone a brighter future, including one for Shepard and Miranda if you choose Destroy. Thank God Weekes is there. All the endings were saved from Walters.

Still not all that fond of them but I got what I wanted so now you're stuck with me.

How do you head-canon your Shep surviving in destroy, Taboo? I don't really see how it's possible.

It's actually quite simple, really.

As a matter of fact, I've done it in my Salvation fic, down in my signature.

Oriana's age also changes from nineteen to sixteen in ME3.

They messed up a lot of things.

Don't worry.

Gillian Grayson goes from 12 to 18 in 2 years.

Really? I get the impression they just don't care anymore. It's like they just shoot random content to the crowd and milk the established universe that was once called legit sci-fi.

ME2 had it's small plot-holes and impossible happenings already, but ME3 is really topping everything. It becomes harder and harder to immerse into the universe if there are contradicting things at every end... :?

At least for ME2 none of the plot holes or inconsistencies were plot-shatteringly stupid. For example, thermal clips on Jacob's loyalty mission, and even that can be fairly easily rationalized.

But yeah, Gillian Grayson is 18 years old in Deception, despite being 12 in the last book she was in (I forget the title).

Are you sure Weekes was responsible for the retcon? I'm not saying it's impossible, but given how things have been going we are likely to attribute the good stuff to Weekes and bad stuff to Walters without actually knowing anything about it.

As for Karpyshyn, his ME books are bad by my standards. Do you think there would have been less violations of established lore with him at the reins?

About what I said earlier, it was Sylvia Feketekuty who wrote Miranda's SB email and codex entry. She might have also written Miranda's emails (wrote a lot of the ingame text). So now you know where to send the flowers.

I dunno how he does it, but it really is pretty easy to explain. I’ve got a version in “Unity”, to, although it’s not (primarily) about Miranda.

And now she's on the Dragon Age team. Well, shoot...

My guess is it was a collaborative effort. When the boat is sinking everyone lends a hand to bale.

Knowing the (stereo)typical artists' mindset, there are people who'd rather let the boat sink than compromise their vision. I guess we should be glad Bioware is a business as well.

OT:
Does anyone else think the weapons from the new Firefight DLC are mostly crap? The Geth SMG is really nice, but as for the rest? As long they don't have special effects I know nothing about, they're inefficent compared with what we already have.

So I guess the Harrier has some special effect? I can't use it efficeintly in my current playthrough - too heavy. Interferes with my cooldown too much ;)

The killed by assassins thing doesn't seem to be true. Or at least I got the holo just fine.

Wait, which holo? I wasn't sure it was true, but aren't you supposed to miss the first and second meetings?

Citadel. I assumed it was the first only conversation. She sent a second email. Skipping the second would automatically make her Leng chow. And now I'm wondering if she'll survive this game. Suspense!

I hear she gets over Autism as well. She "outgrows" it.

Or the gay man who is suddenly straight.

These are real world failings. Even the lore doesn't take precedence over **** like this.

I haven't tried out the new Firepower DLC yet. I've bought it, but I'm waiting for the Leviathan DLC to come out before doing a second playthrough on any of my Sheps.

The Harrier is amazing! I have it at level X and the damage is beautiful and the weight is perfect; 200% CDR with that AND my Talon. Perfect for my Vanguard.

(Just in case somebody is completely out of the loop, BioWare’s admitted “Deception” is awful, and “is addressing complaints in 2nd edition”, i.e. having it rewritten, and it’s not considered canon…)

How is the Adas? That looked neat too. It looks like the Sentinel version of my canon Shep gets to use those weapons first.

But yeah the Harrier is giving everyone hard ons it seems...
