She's not a vent or escort option. A squad member dies if a bad biotic is chosen, and she survives as fireteam leader, even if not loyal. Only way she dies is hold the line or final boss.

Miranda can only die at two points during the Suicide Mission:

1) Holding the line

and

2) Boss battle

She'll die at hold the line if the squad left behind isn't strong enough. But she CAN hold it if she's by herself. And she'll only die at the boss if she's unloyal.

It's been a while since I looked at the math, but as I recall, loyal Miranda can actually hold the line by herself

Because her score is just high enough, I think.

It's one of those things I've been meaning to try...

All this talk of the SM makes me depressed over how underwhelming the Earth mission is.

They apparently had you assigning War Assets at one point and that was cut...because of time restraints.

What could have been...

She really doesn't wear all that much when you think about it. From what you can see she isn't wearing much underneath either.

I would think she'd wear something though. That catsuit would make you sweat...

If the ME2 romance scene is any indicator, she just wears her undergarments beneath the suit.

I like to think that, in the future, people have found other ways of cooling their bodies than sweating.

For supposedly being the most "epic" and "grandiose" of the trilogy, a lot of ME3's missions are fairly underwhelming, with Earth being the centerpiece.

I was actually convinced they were going to do this. 

It would have been like a suicide mission but in a galactic proportion. God, they had every thing to make the most memorable mission in the serie, but instead, we got........that thing

Yes that's what I was implying. I just didn't mention specifics. I would HOPE that she was wearing underwear.

Yeah, then they had the EC to fix that, and once again they failed to deliver because they wanted the EC released as soon as possible. Assigning war assets would sure be amazing and a lot more interesting, I remember playing the SM and it was so fun to send squads like Jack and Jacob to their deaths, how I would love to do the same with Vega and Tali in ME3.

Yeah, there were actually some dialogue that was cut wherein you could here Zaeed and Jack fighting through reaper hordes.
