I seriously doubt that the original plans for Miranda being bisexual was to cater to actual LGBT players though.

I doubt that too. I don't claim to know what they would have done for it, but I think it would have been a play on her promiscuity, like that of Isabela in Dragon Age, rather than just being an option for LGBT players.

I loved Isabela.

Being open sexually is great and I welcome it, but the stereotypes can get a little grating at times.

Bisexuals usually have a preference. Not to say they won't be involved with both men and women, but they will usually seek out a partner of a specifiic gender first. At least this is what I was told, and taught, when I studied Queer Cinema (that's what it's called, just to specify).

After the way her character developed throughout ME2 (especially with the romance), I think her being wildly promiscuous would be SO wrong.

As we know her now, yes, but had she been bisexual, would it still be such an off assumtion about her character? She could certainly be portrayed as such, of that I have no doubts.

Well, she did develop in ME2, but thanks to the SB dossier playing the promiscuity card would not be too far fetched.

True enough, and I agree. We have no inkling what she would have been like as a bisexual, since it was lighty explored.

For the record, I alway saw the shadow broker dossier stuff less as her looking for sex, and more as her looking for a baby daddy. Which is why she was only interested in their medical history/genetics. She only did anything with the one of them(and then got her medical info :( ), it's not like she got with all of them...

She was trying to get pregnant. Those encounters were intended for pregnancy. She turns people down if they say too much or have a genetic disorder.

That's why the Doctor's report appears after the emails.

Well, sexiness/sexuality is still a prominent part of Miranda's character, which I think is good. It's just that, overall, there is more nuance than there might have been at the concept stage.

Yes, I agree with you there, I believe she was looking for a baby daddy, but it's easy to have another interpretation. One could say she was looking for a baby daddy, but why not enjoy the sexual gratification as well? And we don't know if there were more guys, there probably were, Miranda wouldn't go to a fertility doctor after only one failed attempt at getting pregnant, so it's almost a safe assumption that she did more guys.

She only goes through with it in one of the emails.

She only had sex with one of them. Every other one was turned down.

Go back and take a look.

I think Babi is saying there could have been other guys who's emails we didn't see (maybe she also used a second dating service).  I agree with your interpretation, but it doesn't rule out Babi's.

Oooooh, is this Miranda's version of IT?  Improbable, but can't be utterly disproven?  Impregnation Theory, we don't even have to change the initials!!Posted Image

Never saw her dossier that way and I see how it all ties together now, but what's the sense of forcefully getting pregnant from a stranger?

Indeed, why not?

Miranda can make her own decisions in that area as far as I'm concerned. I'm sure she knows best Posted Image

I guess she doesn't trust donor bank dossiers of their donors as containing reliable info.

She doesn't have anyone in her life.

She wants a baby and will do anything to get it.

This happens in real life too.

Just to see if she can? To be honest it could have been anything. Of the true intent we will never know.

Yes, I know that. But she's a scientist, she knows it takes more than one attempt at conceiving. So I find unlikely that she didn't try with other guys before. Just because there weren't any other emails there that doesn't mean she didn't go out with anyone else.

Yes, that's exactly what I meant, thank you!

So her goal from the beginning is to quit Cerberus and raise a kid all on her own?...

I finally found an aspect of the character I really don't like. :?

I spoke of some weird sin last night.

These types of people have sex because they can't connect to other people in any other way.

They have plenty of films about this. Last Tango in Paris being the most known.

The chemical release from coitus creates the same ones as being in love. People who don't have that, will sleep with more people. Oxytocin is the one you're looking for.

False dilemma.

Her plan is to continue to run Cerberus' biggest projects AND have a child.

You can do both you know?

not really, no.

As a special agent you can usually forget your career with a child.

Sure. The timing is a bit strange, given the whole Suicide Mission thing Posted Image

But then the dossiers don't always really line up with the game. So.. meh.

She's not a field agent.  It's not like she goes undercover.  She's management.  She heads and runs massive projects.  You do most of that from an office/lab (the collector mission is a special exception).

Yes, women can have a family and still go to work nowadays, you know? ;) Just saying in case some people are still stuck in last century.
