Reread the definition. It is the study and exploration of those processes. Benefits might not necessarily be obtained overnight (or even potentially at all). Some transhuman thinkers might even condemn most of these processes (it is not necessarily about saying that they are great.)

That's essentially what you said.
The term can be used to indicate a transition or intermediary state between the human and the post-human.
But not necessarily in the sense that there is a "stage of evolution" that has been attained. That is an overly simplistic way of looking at it.
Artificially constructing and enhancing the genome is a transhuman element because it could represent such an intermediary state or process. Again, it's not really all that complicated.
Miranda's enhancements are good things that could be beneficial for humanity in the long run. That doesn't validate her father's methods or motivations in the slightest way.
