I'll chime in later into your discussion about transhumanism (you know I would, right?), but I'm off to GamesCom and probably offline for much of the day. It will have to wait.

I don't think that's a good idea. I was already responsible for enough chaos yesterday. Somewhere wires got mixed (I'm more than certain it was my fault) and flemm and I ended up arguing two seperate things. I'd rather we left this out of the equation, if only to keep us all sane.

Unless you were already crazy.

^ That shuts Jack's mouth.

Miri leads the 2nd Fire Team during the first part of the SM. It's ALWAYS Wonderful seeing Miri as the Squad Leader, giving orders, coordination, etc .

The this is you see her with an Assault Rifle, yet she doesn't have one. This happens a lot with some of the Characters in ME2.  Hell it even happens to you (Shepard) at some points.

Anyway, I didn't really mean for that to turn into a whole long thing. It's really just a vocabulary/semantics issue, which unfortunately can sometimes be a rather knotty puzzle to unravel.

I guess you visited the liara thread.

And about the previous discussion, Miranda has transhuman traits in her.

Her genetic traits and her biotics are proof of that. She was created with no biotics (mankind didn't make the connection betwen eezo and biotic until after FCW, no reason to expose her tu eezo when she was created), so Miranda is an artificial biotic.

We certainly get more debate in here than any other thread. The good kind of course. It's always productive and thought provoking.

If anything I think we at least can say Miranda has caused an enormous amount of interpretations and discussion.

But I don't think we have as many half naked pictures as the Liara thread does.

Miranda was "born" in 2150. Mankind made the relation betwen eezo and biotics in 2158. Let's give Mr. Lawson one year to his research (atleast time to discover the Krogan procedure) to create artificialbiotics.

Miranda might become a biotic before she had 10 yeard, and her trainer couldhave been anyone, maybe Mr. Lawson hired an asari commando to teach her. She received the best education an training, asaris are the best at biotics.

Then again, We also don't have a nude model to be getting half naked photos from. -_-"

So, Miranda moves into Shepard's Cabin.

What's the biggest issue they have living together?

Indeed. If we weren't all crazy, we wouldn't be here posting every day about a fictional universe.

As for the transhumanism debate, I'll make it short. Here's the Wikipedia article on the subject. Please note that EDI and Mordin use a different definition of the term "transhuman" than real-world transhumanism. In the latter, there is no requirement for synthetic enhancements, just for enhancements in one of the areas that define the human condition. In Miranda's case that would be lifespan and cognitive abilities. She is thus an example of the transitional state of humanity, somewhere between the unenhanced human and a hypothetical future state where the human condition has been transformed so much that the term "posthuman" would apply. Specifically, her longevity and her mental enhancements put her on the path to what Orion's Arm calls "transapient". Not very far on that path, sure, and It's very much doubtful that one could become transapient without any synthetic enhancements because of the limitations of the biological computational substrate, but every path starts somewhere. Also note that Miranda is a biotic, and those *have* been referred to as transhuman within the ME universe (in ME1) in spite of the definition used by EDI and Mordin.

Ieldra, you WILL be asking about Miranda if you get the chance right? Tell them that Taboo wants to know.

Priestly will get the joke...

That Miranda objects to the half-naked photos of her Shepard wants to put on the walls?

Mr. Massakka has one.

The biggest issue of them living together?

Aside from normal arguments?

"You took too much of the blanket!"

"You snored last night!"

Gee I don't know. I don't work as fast as you. I'm still trying to figure out who is where and who is doing what.

I *have* asked about Miranda when I met Jessica Merizan and Chris Priestly this morning. The answer to the question whether ME2 team members, specifically Miranda, will appear in future DLC was "maybe". I also put a word in for Miranda in the name of her BSN fanbase.

It was only a short meeting, since they had to go off to an interview, but I hope I'll get more opportunity to ask questions and make comments on the party on Saturday. Uh....35°C....I hate summer.

BTW, they had cool concept art from the DA universe. They're definitely planning something there. No one wanted to comment further though.

Basically what it boils down to is sometimes the term is associated with certain more extreme modifications such as replacement of organic brain functions with synthetic parts.

In that particular conversation, the writer is using the term in that more extreme and specific sense.

I'm not sure if that usage is "wrong" exactly. Perhaps it is more misleading than anything, or perhaps we could say it is one possible use of the term, but only one.

Anyway, the term is used to refer to a whole range of things, some not extreme at all (and even already commonplace in our society, such as in vitro fertilisation), some in the mid-range (like genetic enhancements, which are not commonplace but may become feasible in the not-so-distant future), and some more extreme (like augmenting brain functions with synthetic parts).

Actually, if you've checked DA recently, there is now.

As for the second part, Shepard likes to steal the blankets when he's sleeping. Because of it, Miranda purposefully kicks him off the bed. :P

Biggest issue... leaving the bed. Who in his sane judgment would leave the bed when there's a perfect woman on it?

That's not advised immediately post coitus.

However he should be leaving to take care of necessary things like, you know, going to the bathroom.

"Maybe" is a great way of saying "We don't know."

They are community managers, not writers or producers.

That's the best you're going to get from someone who isn't Patrick Weekes.

Mr. Gamble is there though. He was talking about Cologne yesterday.

He was loyal to Miranda, talk to him.
