@bold-- What?
On topic-- Thank god for that. If Miranda was rail-roaded into dying I don't think I would play ME3 ever again, regardless of how well it's done.
I have never let Miranda die. Every time I don't let Miranda die, I have to go listen to Tali drunkenly act like Miranda's dead. I'm sick of it and siding with the Geth next time.
Should make Rannoch's slides interesting when I shoot the tube...

My brother sided with the Geth and watched Tali jump off the cliff.
Also goofed and let the bomb go off. It's a different intro scene it seems... then taking care of the bomb first.

"I know you two were close."
"It took everything she had, but in the end, she took down her father."
Tali's drunken conversation made me lose some respect for her. Well, maybe not her, but her writer. Obviously whoever wrote it was playtesting and didn't know Miranda could survive when he wrote that.
At least, I can't think of any other rationalization. At least Joker acknowledges that Miranda survives, as does Liara.

Once again I must stress how the developers failed. Mass Effect is an RPG. Important characters should not be railroaded into anything. The story should not be railroaded in any way either.

Nope, I'm entitled and proud of it. And Tali will pay for her LIES!

Well, I don't really see it that way. Look at Thane fans, who complain that his death is never mentioned by anyone after it happens. In some chat or other, Weekes admitted that the writers dropped the ball on that because they basically forgot that he could die there.
The Tali scene could disappear if Miranda survives, or there could be variants, I guess.
But the fact that there are quite a few lines from a lot of different characters acknowledging Miranda's death and survival (and there were more in the leak) mostly means that it was something everyone was thinking about and aware of.

Except that it's entirely illogical for Tali to act as if she died.
Either Tali was present and saw Miranda herself, alive and well...
... Or Tali wasn't present, but saw Shepard give the post-mission debrief, a la ME1 style.
Unless Shepard was stupid enough to omit that little detail (Not that it wouldn't even remotely be the first time), there's no logical reason for Tali to assume Miranda is dead, unless alcohol gives quarians amnesia.

I actually like that conversation. Good on Tali. Who know? Maybe they'll be friends post war.
Doubtful.
Tali is an open, warm, people oriented person.
Miranda is not.
Their personalities alone, while not volatile as say Ashley and Miranda or Jack and Miranda, don't compliment each other.

It's Thrusday! And as promised I have uploaded several new pieces of XNALara art to my Deviant Art page.
All of them focus around Post-ME3 times. Approximately 5-7 years after the ending events of Mass Effect 3. They all have a common theme; Shepard, Miranda, and their currently unnamed son, together.
Chronologically speaking 3 out of 4 of the images occur on the same day, so variety isn't too prominant. But I hope you enjoy the small differences. As Taboo has mentioned, it is the emotion they provoke that counts.
I was going to link them all seperately through this post, but decided it would be better just to provide you one link and you can browse as you so please.
So here is the link to my Deviant Art page, all full sized art is available for download there.
As a bonus for being on BSN and being the kind and lovely people you are, I have an extra piece for you.![]()
I didn't do any post-processing of this image, so it is entirely raw from XNALara, with the exception of the in-program lighting adjustments. I hadn't originally planned to post it but I figured since it was done, there was no harm in sharing with you guys. Thought it was a nice plain portrait of them, and little Shepard just looked so adorable.
This little video served as inspiration for all these images (as well as several conversations here), and I'm not afraid to admit that it makes me tear up everytime I see it. So far warning if you haven't watched it before.
Anyhoo, I hope you like the pictures. I certainly enjoyed making them.
Edit: Wow, that timing was perfect.
Sweet. Good job.
I think I can consider this a likely ending for Miranda and my Shepard.
But for me the child has been adopted.

What I mean was that it's a mistake on Bioware's end. They didn't do another line of dialouge. That's an explanation too.

Maybe. It wouldn't be the first (or last) time Bioware made an "oopsie-daisy" in their writing.

Miranda is the climactic death, so of course she's on everyone's mind. She's actually not a bad choice for it. I'd say the biggest problem was the decision to make her elicit pity instead of admiration. I don't know if this makes sense, but she should have had a sidekick death instead of a redeemed villain death.
Eh, basically it's just a crappy role to have in the story, no matter how you slice it. I also don't like how it was done, but nothing was going to make me really like it.
She survived it, and she won't have to do that again. That's about all that's positive imo

Except her death didn't accomplish anything. At all.
Mordin dies curing the genophage (or you shoot him, cementing your evil/willingness to do whatever to win the war).
Legion dies giving his race true sentience. It's kinda murky how or why, but it's does something.
Miranda dies... what? Showing her daddy who's boss? She doesn't even shut down Sanctuary, the reapers do that.
Lamest death in the series. Worse than Thane's.
Edit: Jenkins' death scene laughs at Miranda's.

But she's always elicited pity from me. She has always been on the outside. Maybe it's because I understand the abusive parent but to be honest she invokes the same type of pity and admiration that the chracters in the films I like to watch.
She reminds me a lot of Bresson charactes. Stuck, right there at the edge, so close but so isolated.
And unfortuantely it ends badly for a lot of his characters. In the case of his films, suicide.
Which is why I'm thankful she can make it out okay. I couldn't play the game if she ended up like poor Mouchette.
