But how? You can't just ignore it.

The only romance from ME2 that didn't blow up was Miranda's, and that's because she's so loyal.

But Jacob...I don't know.

Ummmm kelly?  Who has just as much content as MirandaPosted Image

Also, Tali and Garrus are technically ME2 romances.

I was referring to romances with characters introduced in ME2.

Miranda is the only one who still has it on her mind. She still cares.

Everyone else either dies or cheats on you.

You can continue the romance with Jack, too, I believe. It's just Jacob and Thane where other things happen.

Jack's is also valid.

But FShep...yeesh. I'm in the "Thane should die" camp, but there should have been a lock-in. If a player chose a romance, it should be valid.

True. Although I hear all you get are some some scenes with snogging and not much else.

I don't think the game registers Kelly as a LI. But she gets a picture. Which makes no sense.

It's not a lot of content. But you do get the achievement.

One thing to keep in mind is that the Miranda "romance scene," that playful series of lines at the end of the third dialogue that everbody likes a lot, that's a late addition. Wasn't in the leaked script, but was part of the damage control that ensued after that, like the email.

I shudder to think what Miranda's role in this game would have looked like had there not been a lot of fan support right on time, over the summer, and then around the time of the leak (which was like early November, I think).

The original scene was a fairly cliche "shut up and kiss me" moment. Interestingly, Ash got a modified version.

Eugh.

That's not good. It makes you wonder, truly what the hell was going on. She survived in the leaked script yes?

It also possible that it was already in the game and wasn't listed in the script. I'm more than certain that not everything in that script made into the game.

Although you're probably right.

But it DOES prove one thing. If the Miranda people are loud enough, they get results. I heard that Mr. Ackland supports the #FindMiranda campaign. That's a good thing.

Yeah. Basically, it was more like Jack's in the sense that there was a kiss. Actually, not even. I think it was going to be more of an "almost kiss" in the sense that they were interrupted. But... it was a little hard to tell from what was leaked.

Anyway, this is an improved version.

Yes to this also. It doesn't seem like Miranda not surviving was ever really intended. I think Hudson probably wanted it, but... other people didn't, and just too many fans for that to really be feasible.

I know it's quite OT, but I have to commend you for your NiN reference in that one thread, good sir. That was a stroke of genius; almost as good as Reznor himself.

On this topic, what squadmates would you have chosen to be in ME3 (as squaddies)?
I assumed it would be something like:
Ash/Kaidan
Garrus
Tali
Liara
Miranda
Mordin (I understand why not him though, his story arc is great and he's not an LI)
Jacob (even though I thought he was lame)
And then a few others depending on the plot

Though I never saw Thane coming back. He was always terminal from what I could tell.

Miranda
Wrex
Garrus
Grunt
Kaidan
Mordin
Javik

Well the script was written when ME2 was finished (Walters has stated as much) so Miranda has been alive for well over two years on paper.

If they had truly wanted her to die they would have done so. If it was on the table I can bet you that the man we have to thank for saving her is Patrick Weekes.

MIranda always dying would have been just slightly less worse than if Shepard was force to die in every ending. SLIGHTLY.

A Hold The Line for Miri would have been funny though...

Well, parts of the script were still being written over the summer and into the early fall. Early story drafts would have been completed in the months following ME2's release, though.

A couple of those early drafts were leaked along with a larger script, and Miranda does also survive in those (Thane, for example, does not), so that is partly why I say it doesn't seem like her death was ever going to be unavoidable.

I'm glad she's there, even in a reduced and muddled role.

I always try and stay positive.

Her character would have truly have been assassinated had she pulled a Jacob.

Oh God the horror...

You can bet your ass it would be happening, too.

I think you forgot that Shepard "lives" in destroy.

lol "lives"

If living is being stranded on a pile of ****g rocks, yeah, I'm alive!

Shepard: Miranda, it's good to see you. I've missed you for the last six months.
Miranda: oh, hello Shepard.  This is my fiancee, and father of my child, Conrad...

That's...really troubling. They should have had a set script before they even started production. They were given funding without a complete script?

You don't get to do that very often in the film world as it isn't a safe investment most of the time. I know MIB3 started shooting without a complete script but all the way into the fall?

That's insane.

I'm not sure what the status quo is for this type of game, as far as when the script normally is solidified. It may not follow the same pattern as film, in fact I imagine it probably doesn't, as a general rule.

Parts of this were really rushed, though. It's all fairly well documented. They weren't really expecting the reaction they got, so they released some info about last-minute decisions regarding the endings that were made in like... November.

That's apalling. They should have had a complete script over two years ago.

If I recall correctly Martin Sheen was in recording his lines in November, THAT is troubling. For such an important character you'd think they would have had his material down by then.

I'm beginning to wonder if the problem isn't just the game being rushed. It could be something far worse.
