God it's getting late. Oh well.

I think it's interesting to note that she's still wearing her collar in that above pic. I never understood why she wears it. Aesthetics I suppose.

I never understood why she had it in the first place.

Sex Appeal somehow?

Looks like it keeps the top of her outfit together. Otherwise, well...

BOOBS.

I've known girls who have been into kinky stuff but I've never heard of a collar being used for anything but one thing. Are you getting a dominatrix vibe or something?

That being said I know they added that thing to the back of Mordin so the model would function properly.

I think it's just here to be there. Someone though it would look nice.

You mean those circular collar things Mordin has? Those were added to give him a more interesting shape/silouete. Art Book says so.

And, I'm not getting a dominatrix vibe from it but considering Miranda was DESIGNED to be sexy, I was guessing it might be something related to sex appeal.

Is it bad that I'm now seeing comparisons between Thane and Miranda? Both were created under the directions "We need a sexy character".

Not to me. I never really saw that in him, but mostly because I've never been involved with him as a LI.

If your character is going to be sexy it needs to fit into almost everythign they do. Look at the way Miranda walks, the way she talks. Those all give off that vibe. It bothers some people because it is so apparent.

Thane on the other hand reminds me a lot of the old karate master who someone would have to scale a mountain to find. Wizened, full of wisdom and incredibly dangerous. I see Thane as a philosophical character more than anything. He was incredibly interesting to talk to in that regard. He's set in his ways for the most part but he's also looking for atonement.

So....I'm back from the community party at GamesCom. Very nice and friendly atmosphere with good food and drink. A handful of other BSN regulars were there as well.

Got to ask a few questions. Unfortunately, Chris Priestly didn't know why Miranda was made more conventional in ME3, why her story was about her sister again and why we didn't see her in the Cerberus HQ, he said I'd have to ask the writers for that, but he appeared to accept the criticism. I also asked about the Omega DLC, he said he "couldn't officially comment on that", LOL. Sounds like it's pretty much clear it's coming, maybe depending on how Leviathan sells. He said they're making DLC to expand on unexplored places and stories within the ME universe if there appears to be any demand, so there's a lot of room for more. As I said on Thursday, appearance of ME2 team members in ME3 DLC is a "maybe".

He also said ME3 MP was more successful than he'd anticipated.

An interesting tidbit about the EC (disclaimer: I've heard this second-hand from another BSN regular who was there): it appears they'd always planned to make something like that, but originally it was planned for very much later as the last ME3 DLC. After the reaction to the ending the timetable was changed to get it out first.

There was a lot of talk about "a possible future Dragon Age game" which they carefully avoided to say anything official about. There was some tacit acknowledgement that they might have given too little consideration to their core audience with DA2. The question of "iconic outfits" triggered an extended discussion.

That was it, mostly. A little less information than I hoped for, which Chris Priestly acknowledged when he said he hoped next year there will be something more substantial to talk about. I guess after the way ME3 contradicted several things they said before they're now very careful to say anything at all if it isn't 100% safe. Let's see if someone else has gotten more.

I also heard it was really hot there too.

But unheard stories? That certainly sounds...stupidly vague. Then again I'm not surprised.

But places, what kind of places? I got a HUGE Lovecraft vibe from Leviathan.

But I was talking with flemm earlier. I wasn't aware that Miranda actually had LESS content in the leaked script and that you guys got it changed. That actually gave me some unpleasant feelings here on my end, from a professional standpoint.

Can you tell me more Ieldra? About the apartment scene in the leaked script?

On the subject of Miranda's collar it's there for animation purposes. The character models in ME1 and 2 have a little gap between their neck and their head that allows for freedom of motion (characters can turn their head, move from side to side without having to move their body). Most of the squad's outfits cover up this gap but because Miranda's suit has such a low neckline she gets a collar.

As for DLC I'll be interested to see how Levithan does once it's released. I get the feeling that the bulk of people who bought ME3 put it back on the shelf after they finished with the EC.

Ah, so it does have a purpose. I was wondering if they couldn't close a gap in the model or something.

I don't know. At least I know now.

Yes. In the leaked script the romance scene was interrupted by someone barging in on them, so it's possible there wouldn't even have been that fade-to-black scene we got had we not complained that Miranda needed a romance scene. However, the scene also appeared to take place on the Normandy instead of the Citadel.

As for the collar: that problem is rather common in games. In many game engines the place where the body model meets the head model can't be made seamless however hard you try so they cover it up.

That's...really troubling. They should have had a set script before they even started production. They were given funding without a complete script?

Game production is not the same as film production.

A developer is full of all sorts of staff relying on there being a constant flow of work. I can see why not everything was set in stone before production started. I'd imagine some of the really late stuff was tweaking dialogue rather than outright alterations.

Still, the game did need another 9-12 months of development, I'd say. I know of 'less complex' games that were given three years' production time for the final installment of the trilogy.

Always wondered about the collar, I like it about her though. It sort of adds a charming "classiness" to her.

Half-right. They had thought about doing this, and many of the writing staff was for it, but Casey Hudson wanted otherwise.

Yes, I like it, too. Strangely, the improved look of the collar is always the first I notice when I switch to a high-res mod.

Slowed down? Since I got here we have created over five hundred pages. If anything this thread is always in high gear and I hope it gets attention.

There are actually pleanty of stories in the ME Universe yet to be told.

I heard someone from Gamescon discussing Priestly mentioning something LotSB-styled for ME2 Characters. That could be great.

I've always wanted to hear about Samara and the Justicar Code. I have so many questions about it.

I'd also love to see more Miranda (natuarally) and Jack.

It seems likely that Zaeed will be tied to Omega some how like in the original script.

Seeing Kasumi in action and what makes her a "Master Thief" would be great. I'd love to go on a heist with her that has much more Akrham City-like gameplay while we avoid Cerberus mooks or something.

There are a lot of things they can expand on.
