Jack really was an amazing case of making more of less. Then again, she got character GROWTH. Her arc from ME2 was completed.

I guess to do the same for Miranda, Ori would have had to be okay and her dad would have had to be a past problem. But then they'd have to write new stuff for Miranda, and they're busy writing the ending! (wait till you see it, it's AMAZING). So recycled tropes will have to do...

Sarchasm detected I hope?

My only issue with Jack's growth was that it seemed too rapid of a change in only 6 months.

But that's just me.

Meh, if smurfypus can go from superkewl shadow broker, to being attacked and driven from her base by cerberus, but that's okay because now she's an archeologist (again) and alliance expert at the prothean dig site on Mars, then Jack can grow hair and take up teaching.

Well, in a sense, it's not very *realistic*. But... I don't think that matters much. Because it feels right, fits the character, and is awesome. So the fact that it is somewhat implausible (at least in that span of time) is just not that important.

Unfortunately, that is the type of thing that a really good writer can do (I don't think it's much of a stretch at this point to recognize that, objectively, Weekes is really good at this). I say *unfortunately* insofar as he was not in charge of Miranda's content this time around. I shudder to think what her content would have looked like had he not helped improve it (and probably adjusted it after the leak as well).

Sorry, the smurfypus* was back.  Which is sad, because Ash and Miri as the main two females would have made for a way better dynamic (alliance/cerberus, soldier/sleuth, religious/less so, attractive/Weird AlPosted Image).  Seriously though, those two are similar, and yet do everything completely different, and would have been way more interesting than creepy stalker who finds blueprints then cries about Thessia.

To be fair Miranda gets attached and (arguably) falls in love in three months if romanced.

That's a big un' there.

We try to make sense of a lot of these things in here I'm more than certain my OCD is a part of it but sometimes I just have to let certain details go and believe it happened within the context of the story.

Yeah. Miranda has plenty content, considering she has more lines than Mordin and Legion. It's just that those lines were badly utilized. Much of it is repetitive, bloated, or trite. So there's an illusion that she has less than she does, because so few of her lines matter.

Same with Ash. Her line budget was identical to Kaidan's but his role feels meatier. It's less about the size of the role and more what was done with it.

I don't like Liara.  I think she is a base, insulting character written for masturbatory, fantasy, fanservice purposes and I will mock her as long as I draw breath.  I don't go troll in her threads, but in other ones, I will voice my opinion on a truly aweful character.

Miri's cool thoughPosted Image

That's how I try to handle it Posted Image

I think they thought ME3 Miranda would go over well, bar complaining about non-squad status. Instead the fanbase rioted and even non-fans were displeased. Hence damage control.

The funny part is that what you describe there could basically be applied to the whole main story of the game (minus the Genophage, Rannoch and a few other levels that stand out, like Grissom Academy).

Do what you want in your own space. This isn't the place for it. Last I checked character support threads weren't titled "Yay [insert character here], **** everyone else."

Minus shooting her on the citadel, I'm keeping Ashley alive in ME3 for her Marksman bonus.

Well, I think everybody would like more. I certainly would. Hell, I'd have preferred that Miranda be the star of the game again.

Having said that, there is enough content that we really should have been able to see a more balanced portrayal than we did. As it stands, I hope that additional content will provide that.

i remember myself saying something like: hm, i'd better start a new shepard in ME1 to save Ash, coz it would be damn interesting to have Miranda and Ash in the same ship.

Oh good times.

A more balanced portrayal would have changed nothing of the quantity problem. I'm not satisfied with a 10min appearance, and I will never be (no matter how they portray her).

I hate Jack in ME2. Yet I got to like her a lot in ME3. Grimson Academy is one of my favorite parts of the game.

But yay, why would anyone need ME2 characters anyway, right Bioware?

*sigh*

The thing is is that you don't need a particular VS to be alive in one playthrough to use their bonus power.

I'll be able to use Reave in an Ashley playthrough as I unlocked it during a Kaidan playthrough.

Why he has Reave I'll never know.

If we ever get DLC I'd like to see some new ones introduced. Miranda could Lash for example. And I can see Jack with Annihilation Field.

Well, Ashley makes a very mean comment regarding Miranda when you talk to her on the Citadel. That solidified my detestment of her character. After that point, my Shepard is completely done with her. The next time he see's her, he's trying to reach the council to save them from Udina. She immediately falls into ****-and-moan mode overdrove, and Shepard puts her down to do his job.

"Goddamnit Ash. He was with Cerberus!"

"So were you! I hope the Reapers send you to Hell!"

Also, whenever Jean Luc comes back I'll ask him about Wonder Woman outfits, if only to make a certain user in this thread go nuts.

In a good way.

Ha, I'm not sure how useful Lash would be on a squadmate.

Okay, Ash only says something about Miranda if you romanced them both.

Also, she says Miranda wears swimwear into battle, which is completely true.

Also, I can tell by dialogue that you were a total jerk to her the whole game.Posted Image

It certainly is hilarious. Fully upgraded you can troll phantoms until they die.

I would much rather see Miranda do that then Slam.

Better yet I'd rather simply see her in DLC with something new.

I don't think Annihilation Field works for Jack. Gameplay wise she doesn't rush the enemies like Furies do. And thematically it seems... off. It seems like different kinds of fury/rage. Jack seems like the "trash the place with great force" kind of angry, whereas the Fury (and Annihilation Field) seems like the "slow burn everything by glaring at it" type.

Yes, I have taken the time to invent backstories for the multiplayer N7 characters. And in my version, while the Fury isn't quite as strong as Jack biotically, things around her just rip themselves to shreds when she's angry.

^ Except that Jack can become a Vanguard in ME2 sans biotic charge.

She DOES use a shotgun after all.

She also rushes when she needs to.

I have never seen her rush. And from a gameplay perspective I don't see Annihilation Field working very well on NPCs. Hell it's not a cakewalk for players either with freakin lag and Nemeses somehow dodging your throw... point blank.

If Jack needs a new power, give her the Fury/Asari heavy melee (minus the teleport of course) amp it up into a Biotic Repulse a la Starkiller. She pretty much is the Starkiller of biotics anyway.
