Because nobody from the existing cast really complements Miranda.

That's also why I don't think Jack and Miranda would ever be friends. Coworkers perhaps, but certainly not friends. People who are polar opposites (or even just somewhat different) in real life don't tend to jump together, and I'm sick of seeing it happen in narratives.

I'm not sure exactly what you mean.

One of my best friends is the most laid back "hippie" like person I know and usually speaks before thinking; a complete outroverted person. I'm very much introverted; thinking a lot and considering several different things that he usually never thinks of. Yet we're very good friends.

Another one of my friends has almost an entirely different answer or prespective of things than myself and we hang out all the time.

Its not that uncommon to be friends with someone who is your opposite.

And, I'd say that, after their character development, They could be friends. Not like "Hugs and love" best friends but friends none-the-less. Jack has matured considerably and Miranda has become much less....cold? Not sure how to put it.

Sam won't work. I shouldn't have to state why.

She's too naive?

Really, I still like Sam (and she's still one of my favorite new characters from ME3), but her naivete is only matched by ME1 Liara and borders on grating.

Because Sam is a lesbian and Miranda isn't. That's what Taboo is getting at.

Sexuality doesn't work that way.

That's why I said "don't tend to". Outside of bad 80's movies, how often do you see the Prom Queen hook up with the nerdy kid with a pocket protector, acne, and taped up glasses assuming the Prom Queen isn't playing a cruel joke)?

You can't really say that Miranda has become less "cold", due to her lack of interaction. Jack, on the other hand, is deliberately shown in a more mature position taking on more mature responsibilities. The only time Miranda is seen (and not alone with Shepard) is during Sanctuary, and even then her interaction is limited TO Shepard. Your squad doesn't say anything to or about her, nor she to them. there's simply nothing to demonstrate it.

Precisely this.

You do not switch sexuality. You either are or you aren't.

Within the context of the game Miranda is heterosexual. This isn't debatable. Same thing with Garrus.

But you can do whatever you want in an Alternate Universe.

Suffice to say, I consider the question open.

But I'd like to see her with someone as smart as she is, who has their own grand passion and vision, who can be hopeful where she is pessimistic.

So... Shepard.

I fail to see what the problem is.

I have to diasgree, I can see them developing a strange friendship, they're more a like then they would ever like to admit. Just because they "act" like polar opposites, doesn't mean they are deep down, I can see the friendship developing down the road, even after ME2, that's why I having them together.  And I'm not talking about that "girly omg omg bull****."

They both have really sh*tty upbringings, and both can be very cold to people (and warm to people they are close to). Aside from those two things, how are they similar in any meaningful way?

Shepard's dialogue frequently portrays him as none-too-bright. And you can't really RP any goals for the future the way you can Hawke.

I like Alex/Miranda, not Shep/Miranda.

Only if you choose it. Outside ME3, I mean. Even then, the idiot-ball isn't held only by Shepard. Almost every major character gets it by some point in the story.

And you can't really RP any goals for the future the way you can Hawke.

Only because none of the dialogues are written that way (in regards to Miranda), which again, isn't a problem directly correlating with Shepard himself.

I still don't see a problem.

Shepard can be as smart as you want him to be. Or as dumb.

They wouldn't put Forrest Gump in charge of uniting the galaxy.

Can you envision Shepard in leg braces? Running from the Collectors at the end of ME2?

With the crew saying lines from Forrest Gump?

"RUN SHEPARD RUN!"

Yes. Forrest Gump is second only to Miranda in terms of badassness. None o' that Chuck Norris BS.

Maybe not Forrest Gump but I love to think that Shepard is a socially awkward penguin. There are actually many situations where you can RP him as that.

Fixed. "Awkward" is being too polite.

I believe Forrest Gump has an IQ of 70 or a bit less than that.

They wouldn't put him in the army if he was mentally handicapped.

Even though they do in the film.

And that's only one of the many issues with that film.

I see Shepard, or my Shepard at least, as being relativly smart. Not like "OMG! SCIENCE AND CHEMICALS!" like Mordin and Miranda are but extremely logical.

I have a whole seperate canon for Mass Effect 3.

Yes, I know. You spit it out at a pace that astounds me.

Shepard can be as smart as you want him to be.

Well now it surely fits the BSN standards, but that's not what I wanted to say.

Shepard sort of invokes the Sacrificed Basic Skill for Awesome Training Trope. The man can give an inspirational speech, kill a man a hundred different ways, and lead a team on a Suicide Mission without losing a single person but he's not that great outside of the battlefield.
