That's what's so dumb about some of the dialouge.

You'll notice that Shepard is not an example on that trope page. And if s/he was added, I would promptly delete it.

When it's a handful of lines out of several thousand...yeah, I think that fits the definition of nitpicking.

My Shepard no longer trusted the Alliance once ME2 began. He could even voice his distaste in that game.

Did you know that the 'Good is Not Dumb' page on TV tropes was actually named "The Shepard" at least once with deliberate references to Mass Effect in the main text? So let's not call Shepard dumb. There are a very few dialogue options I don't like, but as it's been pointed at, out of thousands or probably tens of thousands, that is outstanding.

How is he licking boots?  He has no other options.  He needs an army, the reapers are here, and Cerberus has turned into space natzis (let's see if the t fools the auto censor).  The Alliance is LITERALLY his only option if he wants humanity/advanced organic life to survive.

Seriously, withouth changing anything else, how would you change how shepard acts towards the alliance?  Remember, even ME2 Shep still liked Anderson and Hackett (who it was revealed was looking out for him in those awesome dossiers that are total canon and improved everything)

You're using hyperbole.  Which is fitting, you're on the internet...

The player is empowered with the ability to make Shepard pass off as reasonably intelligent, even smart at times (in ME2 for the most of it). Depending on how you play, your Shepard can range from anywhere between Gump levels of stupid to reasonably intelligent.

But then ME3, with its largely automated dialogue, all but forces Shepard into acting with 2 primary modes: "Idiot" and "thoughtless dick".
