If you think numbers give credence to overall quality you need to stop what you're doing right now and walk away.
Simple as that.

First of all, we were discussing the popularity of characters, not quality. So numbers are indicative.
Secondly, I didn't say anyone was wrong for campaigning for ME 2 characters based on their popularity. If you recall, I suggested Samara, who I'm pretty sure is less popular than Miranda.

So yeah, in my mirimances, Shep and Miranda stick around for a while to help rebuild the galactic community, but once it's on it's feet again, they go somewhere where they're no longer soldiers, just a man and a woman.

Dann sind wir Helden für diesen Tag!
Some of us have our own concepts but it's nice to know that even you have beaten my glacial pacing and made a canon for yourself.

I heard the words "FASCIST AESTHETICS" thrown around a lot in discussion groups with my peers though.

Tell them they can kiss my @ss. Serious. You freaking hippies have crossed that line, that movie is actually ART. Such an amazing emotional core.

Miranda has large thighs in this picture, unless that's a shadow on the right side of her left leg.
Hmph. There are some stupid lines you can't avoid. Explanations why a smart Shepard would say such dumb things are hard to come by. I tend to ignore them, but if you want to stay closely to what's written they're a problem.Taboo-XX wrote...
Shepard can be as smart as you want him to be. Or as dumb.

He can't be suave all the time. Every once and a while a clunker comes along.
But I agree with you, it's simply best to ignore them.
"I was born in London."
"REALLY?"
Yes, because they are jarring. In the right place, a few lines of bad dialogue can ruin a character. Shepard isn't quite there, but only because we usually import our Shepards. The prologue of a game is exactly the kind of place that sets a character's traits and creates a first impression. Shepard's first impression in ME3 is abysmal.krukow wrote...
Eh, most of the dialogue is fine. You people nitpick at 3 or 4 lines incessantly.

At least hearing it the first time is optional.
But it should still be taken into account that you had heard it already. Really, ME3 takes Miranda's conversation about the control chip into account if you heard it in ME2, but it can't do the same thing about a line in it's own game?

I've never heard the dialouge in ME2. It was news to me in ME3.
Or I'm not paying attention. Where is it?

“I pronounce you husband, wife, and estranged-but-rekindling-sister”
Do you think either one of them would be happy just being a man and a woman (and estranged etc.) for more than a year or two?
…
@Taboo-XX: You should probably stop going to the West Hollywood Fascist Aesthetics Discussion Group.
Indeed. I would've liked her on the Normandy, but I think the idea of her having her own parallel story arc is a very good one. If only it wasn't just about her sister (and it needed to be about more from the start) but connected to the larger Cerberus plot, and if she'd been on Cronos Station I'd probably have been happy with the result. It's astonishing how little it would take to make her story good.JeanLuc761 wrote...
I disagree. Miranda is important to ME3's overall plot only in the sense that she was Cerberus' top officer. Now this, in and of itself, is a MAJOR missed opportunity for the Cerberus subplot, but I do not believe that the story would have benefited in the slightest by having Miranda be a squadmate on the ship. I think they should have taken their concept of having Miranda on her own, investigating her sister's disappearance, and have had it unfold into this massive anti-Cerberus plotline where you joined her for a few missions to sabotage the organization. This of course would have culminated with her joining you on the assault of Chronos station.enayasoul wrote...
I'd pick Miranda plain and simple. She would have contributed a lot. They just didn't think it seems.
