I'm working my way through ME2 and it's terribly melancholy. The fish are swimming, my model ship collection is growing, Miranda is speaking with Ori--and every mission brings me closer to Miranda's derailment and Shep's death. I need a pick-me-up. Convince me that the lady's worth it. Please.

Now that the series is done with, I've started to mentally come up with justifications for the areas I think are disappointing.  There are a few things I can't mentally retcon, but overall it's done wonders for my enjoyment of the series.

It also helped when I decided I didn't want to be bitter or angry about what could have been and instead forced myself to enjoy it for what it was.

Hmm. What kind of areas are you talking about? I might be able to help.

Most of them are minor, but a couple of the major ones are this: Shepard and the ENTIRE squad leaving the Normandy, letting the crew get abducted.  Easily the most transparent plot device in the entire series.  Also, having Miranda have little-to-no involvement in the Cerberus subplot in ME3 was a tragically missed opportunity, but it's also one that could easily be mentally retconned into a "behind-the-scenes" kind of deal.

Also Kai Leng, but he's harder to ignore.  Badass character design and also responsible for the best Renegade interrupt ever, but damn was he a two-dimensional character.

Crap. Well, I can't do much for any of that. Rest assured it's all on the list.

You know, my profile is public. You're free to take a look at responses I've posted in other threads as well as threads I've started myself. Just keep the context in mind.

I will ask then. What is your purpose here?

I've also always questioned where Mordin got his Seeker Swarm Bug in ME2. I also wonder...Who the hell is driving the shuttle in ME2? Because....Jacob and Miranda are both interrogating Shepard at the beginning. Who's flying it? You also have this same issues through out the game.

1) It's made from samples taken from Veetor (that's the best I can think of)

2) It's probably on auto-pilot.

hahaha... that's a good question!  I always thought the shuttle was on Autopilot.  Miranda does say, "If they're not here, they're not coming."

The shuttle could just be on autopilot or be driven by a pilot not important enough to introduce. That isn't a big deal. As for the seeker bug, the Collectors are stated to trade their technology for unique specimens. Perhaps Cerberus set something clandestine up.

It wasn't Cerberus. Veetor had samples. That's where it most likely came from.

Yes, Cerberus enacted a transaction with the Collectors, whom Cerberus is actively working to destroy. Never mind that the Collectors are fully aware of Shepard.

Do you also need convincing that the sky's blue?

Miranda needs no arguments on her behalf. Her worth speaks for itself.

As for the ME2 shuttle pilot, it's obviously Private Not-Appearing-In-This-Game, descended from the line of Sir Not-Appearing-In-This-Film.

Oh and it's definitely not an autopilot. When they take off from Pragia and Jack flips the switch Shepard warns the pilot with a bang on the door. Wouldn't do that with a computer.

The Kodiak is more than capable of auto-pilot. Lazarus station only had 3 survivors. All 3 were aboard the departing shuttle.

Compromise: Sometimes it's auto-pilot, other times it's flown manually. You wouldn't bang on the cockpit door if it were on autopilot then.

Who's to say there wasn't a pilot in the cockpit just waiting as per Miranda's orders? Also the shuttle they left on might not have been stationed at that base but merely been there for supplies when **** went down (if you want to stick to the 3 survivors thing). Nobody said it wasn't capable of having an autopilot. But I think it's far more likely it had a human pilot most of the time.

Probably since the Normandy had a full crew. But it was on auto-pilot on Lazarus.

Neither of us any evidence to contradict the other or confirm our own viewpoint. So I'll stick to Occam's razor and say that pressing a button and activating a computer put the shuttle on autopilot.

Not really any simpler to assume one or the other. But yeah since we'll never know, no point in going on about it.

I actually got the impession that there was a mission missing because....just that small scene with Mordin is strange. Its awkward.

Shepard: "Do you have the stuff we'll need for the mission."

Mordin: *very slow walk to the cage* *turn to look at Shepard* *smile* *pause* Yes! *turn back to computer and type something for several seconds till fade-to-black.

If Veetor had one of the Seeker things, I wonder why it didn't sting him? Eight way, if it was from Veetor or some other source, Its obviously wasn't clear enough if I and quite a few other (They hadn't even thought about it till I pointed it out) didn't understand it.

And, I suppose it could be on Auto-Pilot for the Lazerus Station and Miranda drives it for Freedom's Progress followed by someone else taking over when we get the SR-2.

Oh, and I caught the TV Tropes references from that post somewhere above. XD

This one is easy: I headcanon (and write) the entire squad being involved in missions pretty much always (sometimes there’s a legit reason to go small). Even though the camera only follows the trio, the others are off doing some supporting thing.

@jtav: Try playing a Liara romance without LotSB. That’ll make everything shine.
