The worst part is what it does to the endings. Pretty much BioWare making Synthesis the "right" choice.
No it doesn't.
It paints the Catalyst as doing what he was told.
He was programmed by flawed Organics. This DLC shows that his logic is fallacious. He was programmed by hubris laden organics who thought they were right.
You don't have to pick Synthesis. Nothing has changed.
My Shepard is still shooting the pipe and going home.
Perhaps you are right, maybe it doesn't ascend Synthesis, but when the Leviathan said they can control the Reapers themselves - there goes Control. If they get control of the Reapers + their own powers; game over, pal. I'm not sure BioWare could even come up with a way for Shepard to stop thi--oh wait, HE'S DEAD.
Leviathan says they plan on making organics their thralls again - there goes Destroy. The galaxy will be depleted, and here comes the Leviathans to take our brains from us. Hell, the Leviathan wants to keep Shepard as a thrall until you convince it otherwise.
Now that I think about it, Synthesis is the perfect option for the Leviathans. Makes it easier to control both synthetics/organics now.
It certainly doesn't make the endings any better, but it's not like it could have gotten any worse.
