Feindish, I listed Ori as an Infiltraitor or Engie under the idea that she was either taught at Grissom Accademy or by Miranda. Trying to experiment with ways to keep Ori in game but not a part of Miranda's Focus.

She wasn't taught anything by anyone. Miranda would make sure of that.

She has no biotic ability. No useful tech skills. Until she was abducted by Henry Lawson, she had probably never been close to a gun before.

She's a civilian. No training, no skills, no experience. A normal person, or as normal as would seem.

It's possible for Ori to be a biotic, although she wouldn't have received the proper training to master the ability. I agree on everything else though, Miranda took Oriana to give her a normal life, she wouldn't want her sister to have any training at all. And Oriana was never a student at Grissom academy, I don't know where did that come from.

It's possible she has the capability but with no training, and no amp, she has no real ability.

Hey Babi, I didn't bring either of them here. I I don't insult Miranda, I insult the way she's used! Nuance yo! Unless you all pick on ash, but really I shouldn't do it then. She's a great character, and should only be enjoyed. It's why I hand out in this forum and not the spoilers forum. Here we celebrate characters, there they just b*tch about the endings. I prefer to celebrate the good stuff.

As for "trolls" they aren't really trolls. Dragon Claw comes in here is just giving me a hard time.

Like with Salo.

We all insult the way she's used, her character was royally screwed up. But not to be unfair to the people at the spoilers forums, b*tching about the endings never get old because they will always be awful.

BTW, I know you didn't bring the trolls here, if anything I get the impression you spend more time here than in the Ash thread, I was just kidding with that because you said that there would be payback for the members here who trolled the Ash thread.

Well, during the days, the miri thread doesn't turn into euros hitting on each other, there's still ME-related discussion.

So yeah, I think I'm here more. That's fine, there's good people in here.! And fiendishchicken...

I get trolled all the time but I don't really care. I'm amused by it. I'm famous in the Story forum for having my posts changed. I'm even part of a drinking game in the Fan Section of the forum. It's all a Miranda centered gag.

I dare someone here to Google Salo though. That isn't even trolling. That's just scary.

It brings me back to film school and all the **** we watched. Oh boy...

As for characters being screwed up, I think people's interpretations were invalidated in some cases. Mine wasn't. I wasn't shocked by any of her developments. I wasn't shocked that a more human side came out. I've been expecting that since I beat ME2 over two years ago.

I am shocked that they didn't balance Miranda though. She needed to be thinking of things besides Shepard and Oriana.

We'll always have head canon.

Hahaha I remember a while ago I tried to watch Napoleon Dynamite with my fiancée and we both thought it was awful, so when we returned the movie to the video store and told the guy tha helps us that, he said Salo was the worst movie ever, so we rented it. I only watched a scene where everyone was naked and then got back to sleep, but my fiancée said it really was that bad.

It's a metaphor for Fascism. Blunt and in your face. Pasolini was a Communist so the political ideology is rather clear And those people are naked throughout the film. It IS based off of a Marquis de Sade novel so...yeah.

You watch it because it's one of those things that needs to be seen at least once. And I'll never forget it.

Pity I can't see more films from your country Babi. Glauber Rocha is the name I hear most often. Black God, White Devil. Oh my yes.

Cinema Novo. Marvelous.

Well, Brazil isn't known for its cinema, but we do have some critic acclaimed titles like Tropa de Elite (Elite Squad), Cidade de Deus (City of God) and Carandiru (same title according to imdb). I only watched the first one to be honest, but everyone says great things about the other titles I posted.

All countries have the right to share the stage of cinema. I have to search for things from Brazil and it's always a suprise to see one from there.

You have wonderful things there ma'am. There was a wondeful thing called Cinema Novo.

Your country started a new wave of films to combat the traditional Brazilian film. They focused on realism and intellectualism.

Very few countries did that kind of thing. You should be very proud.

Well, if you plan on searching anything I suggest you start with City of God, the movie was critically acclaimed in Brazil and abroad. Elite Squad was huge as well here, even bigger, but I don't know how it did on other countries. I advice you to watch those two movies and if you enjoyed, try Carandiru. If you do watch them, let me know what you thought of them.

About Cinema Novo, I'm embarrassed to say I'm not familiar with, old movies aren't really my thing but I'll look that up, thanks for the advice.

Well, it's latter than I thought, I'm going to sleep. Good night, folks!

I don't think Strahovski was to blame. Miranda had a large-ish role. They had the space to do something impressive, but the character was highjacked by a reactionary element within the dev team. So a recast/larger role would likely have meant more of the same.

The curious thing is, they managed to retain her competence and independence as we wanted, but still the essence of who she was is mostly gone because she's now all bound up in traditionalist values. At least they appeared to recognize the derailment and gave us the e-mail and the non-romance epilogue slides. I'm tempted to choose Control just to get that slide...

so does Miranda age at 2/3 the rate, or will she just live longer?

Like, does she have a long wrinkley future, or will she age like Dick Clark?

She'll age at 2/3 the rate of course. Anything else wouldn't make sense since aging and death by old age are related (do I really need to mention that?). A regular human in the ME universe who is 150 years old looks like an 80-year-old today. Miranda will look like that when she's 225, and at 150, she'll look like a 55-year-old today.

I'm playing with the idea that she didn't want to be normal and went to do something exceptional on her own on the side. On the surface, she's working in colonial development as told in ME2, but behind the scenes she's also something else.

This is the miri thread though, and since I've helped derail it, I shall ask a question for you all to answer:
If you could add one extra miri scene in the game, what would it be? It can be anything you want, from hard core porn style love scene, to just her shooting things on Earth.

I would make her appear on Cronos Station, helping to hack TIM's security and distract Cerberus troops, then meeting you in the central chamber, where you have the option to leave the station to her, and if you do that, she'll add ex-Cerberus resources to the war against the Reapers.

They're literally nerfing the endings. Control will be up next, to my bitter disappointment.

They're not in the habit of nerfing endings already picked by only a minority. There's no pro-Synthesis agenda, that's a conspiracy theory. If
anything, they're aiming for more balance. Example: DA2. They admitted
they made the mages look worse than plausible because nobody in their
test groups went with the templars.

Are you sure about that? First they made synthesis the most desirable option with the EC and now they're making destroy seem like a bad bet.

Yep comes across as a deliberate attempt to sabotage one of the best aspects of destroy(freedom to develop as we wish). Really don't know why they just can't accept the choices people prefer, without their constant attempts to shove Synthesis down people's throats.

Also, you all need to stop with the ashley vega stuff. It's just as legit as Miranda secretly being a guy because she was cloned from her father's genome...

It's not our fault, Vega is all caring making eggs for Ash and helping her blowing off some steam the day before. And there's this one side-mission that comes to mind, the one of the fuel reactors, if you bring Ash and Liara as usual Ashley is being a b*tch to Liara (I do love their banter tough) and if you bring Ash and Vega she is respectful to the brain dead. It's almost as if BioWare wanted them to blossom like Tali and Garrus.

Nono, you've got it all wrong. Ever since Leviathan Vega is destined to be with Ann Bryson.

Well i think post ME3 she'll either end up rebelling if Miranda carryies on trying to keep life normal or becoming part of Miranda non-normal life.

I've been tormenting Ieldra for months that's all. He torments me though even if he doesn't realize it. Art!

Shepard is thirty two. Miranda is thirty six. Not that big of a gap krukow.

She is about thirty biologically though.

At least that's what Ieldra says.

I'd put her physical age somewhere at 27-32.

You can calculate it exactly.

(1) If aging starts at 20, and Miranda ages at 2/3 the rate of the average woman of the ME universe, at an actual age of 35 she'll appear like an average woman of the ME universe would appear at 20+(35-20)*0.66 ~ 30.

(2) However, since the average woman of the ME universe ages at 0.46 the rate of an average woman today ((150-20)/(80-20)), Miranda at the age of 35 appears like an average woman of today would appear at 20+(35-20)*0.66*0.46 ~ 24.5.

The complicated phrasing is no accident. There is no "biological age". Age is age. The measuring stick is averaged health and aging parameters of a specific population you compare her to.

I don't like the idea of them inserting a new big bad which is going to have the most negative impact on the choice where you've chosen freedom at the cost of the most damaged galaxy. Seems deliberate but maybe it's just accidental.

I gather there is no mention of Miranda in Leviathan at all. Not even a stray one-liner from a squadmate referring to how she'd feel about Shepard doing something crazy. Seems like that would've been extremely easy to put in there. Bare minimum, even. An infinitesimal effort. To make us feel like the ME2 LIs actually exist, even if they cannot be with us.

Sigh. I wish BioWare had never introduced the ME2 love interests.
