Agreed.  I only wish we'd known about Sanctuary earlier.  We could have funnelled more people there.

THINK HOW MUCH MORE WE COULD HAVE LEARNED!

Because it's better to let those deaths go to waste?

Besides, you could make a very strong case a few hundreds of Reapers is well worth a few billions of humans.

I completely agree with your first statement.  As refugees, they were useless, but now they're contributers to the war effort!

I don't get your second sentence...

Hackett later claims the data was useful, even if it came at an high price.
See, even Hackett realizes that you can't complain a weapon is dirty. You just use it.

Useful for what? It certainly doesn't become a war asset.

If Miranda is dead, Cerberus is expecting the Fifth fleet and, plotwise, the Alliance loses more ships but that never actually changes the EMS.
I imagine the same applies to the Sanctuary research.

Shepard didn't kill them! Can Shepard bring them back to life? No. All he can do is give meaning to their deaths.

Some people, not me, could make a strong case that a entire fleet of Reapers is more valuable than some billions of humans.

I imagine different. The non-effect of the lost ships is probably down to the mess that was War Assets and EMS, since the latter part of the game is clearly rushed.

Besides, the intention was always to try and track the indoctrinated people to TIM (a squad member will say it when you activate the relevant message from Miranda)

Plus, there's the fact that Kai Leng took the research data. All they are copying are shuttle arrivals and departures.

krukow, let me put your argument in a different context.

I believe Miranda's creation was evil. Abomination is not really too strong a word: a crime against nature. But the evil has been done and Henry's actions are now beside the point, and I must choose how to respond to her. If I used your logic, I should kill her.

Choosing to make the best of evil is not the same as doing evil so that good may come of it.

I don't like Miranda's backstory all that much.

Maybe. Shepard just says to take everything without discrimination and Miranda does not mention destroying any leftover research because it would be a betrayal.
Hackett does say that "It's useful data but you're right. The cost was too high". This could be interpreted either way. Maybe he is just speaking in general or maybe Kai Leng didn't take everything.
There are many logs of Henry Lawson detailing experiments left behind after all.

Not a perfect analogy (nothing was done to anyone), but, no, you should destroy the cloning facility where she was created.

I'm against the existence of the instrament of the death, not the data gleaned from it.  Take a quick scan all you want, but then destroy it.

I realize it's tough to differentiate here because they're so intertwined, but it is what it is.

Probably because it's not an issue. All she says is "I can do better than that" because she has a tracer on Kai Leng. The recordings are not actual, useful research data and, therefore, not worth mentioning. None of it is relevant to the other argument.

Plus, we already know ME3 made Cerberus into outright evil, so there wouldn't be any debate.

Curiously, Shepard can actually defend Sanctuary to Joker somewhat.

Anyway, I think that's out of our system maybe?

Time for a happy Miranda.

These debates will never end. Some interpretations went unchallenged for far too long. It's only fair that they be challenged at some point.

If Miranda wasn't wearing heels, would she be freakishly tall, or is Shep not really that big?

Should I do a CSA (Comparitive Shot Analysis) to find out?

I've done far stranger things for the people in this thread.

Well, as I recall, she has giants heels, so it's a bit moot, I just think it's weird their heads are in the same level in that pic.

To be fair, if it was hollywood, shep would be standing on a phone book off camera...

Miranda's height varies depending on the scene. The models don't scale.

I know she's shorter than he is in ME3 when she meets him on the Citadel. But she ditched the high heals too.

She is shorter than he is.This is a framing choice.

If it is shot differently it can suggest character dominance. For example if you shoot from a low angle and look up at a character you imply said character's authority. The opposite is true for high angles.

They care about each other so you put them at level with each other. They are equals in this frame. As they should be.

You just made the Tali romance that much weirder for me (she's much shorter than him).

You misunderstand. Look at this frame from Orson Welles' Touch of Evil.

Posted Image

One character has dominance in this frame. One. And that's Orson Welles.

The position of the camera can tell you who is in control. Welles shot a lot of his authority figures this way.

Now look at this frame with Charlton Heston and Janet Leigh also in Touch of Evil. Not the same height but they are framed at the same level. They are equal.

Posted Image

That is how Shepard and Miranda are framed.

What a thankless job. Stunt actors and riders are amazing though. Johhny Depp's stunt double lives in my home town. He looks just like him.

This is the best Montana has to offer in terms of slides though. They call it Geronimo. I call it insane crotch ride up.
