Why does it seem the animation wasn't finished before the camera cut over? Her arm is still swaying when the scene changes, and it pisses me off that I can't see the rest of the action taking place.

The story of ME3.

I think I remember seeing a longer animation somewhere. It's great regardless. And she gets 2.5 great slides. I think Miranda got the best EC treatment out of the whole cast.

Well, of the ones that didn't get live-action cutscenes.

On the flashback, does it irritate anyone else that the animations and scenes in the flashbacks aren't actually seen anywhere in-game (I mean outside the flashbacks themselves)?

Shepard has to headcanon an interesting scenario with Miranda before he dies, and he isn't able to finish it.

There isn't a single live-action scene in any of the 3 games.

To be fair in a High EMS Destroy the last thing he thinks of before blacking out is Miranda. He doesn't die.

Memories are not perfect either. That could have occured offscreen in ME2.

The great accomplishment for the ME3 team is getting to leave if you have high EMS. But the last I see of them is in mourning and I don't feel like I know them better. Miranda's slides give me more to chew on than a faiirly substance free farewell.

Yeah, I like that it's something we haven't seen before, precisely. Makes it more vivid, I think.

Also, it's just... new.

Memories are not perfect. He's in bad shape. He isn't going to remember every little detail. He's going to remember the personality and face of the woman he cares about most not the aesthetics of her clothes.

That's head canon but I can believe it.

Memory can be funny like that.

One way to look at it would be that it's Shepard remembering Miranda as he saw her most recently, but back where they were happiest, on the original SR2.

Or, if you see it as being on the ME3 Nomandy, then it's like Shep wishing she had been there.

So, a sort of idealized memory, I guess. It's sort of like the slides in that it's not much in terms of quantity, but there's still a lot of substance there.

It's a pretty noticeable change, especially when it's located relatively close to her face.

Shepard forgetting a "minor detail" would be his inability to show his evidence against the Catalyst's case.

I agree with Flemm.

And I think the phrase should be Taboo'd if you're the one doing the ninja'ing.

It's not that noticable.  You're complaining because that's what you do.

But is it important to understanding the scene? I don't think it is. That's what I'm trying to point out.

The last thought he has before he blacks out is about the woman he loves. That's all the material you need to make the scene work. Aesthetic errors are meaningless.

And maybe if your head canon works out that way she'll be the first thing he sees when he wakes up.

I hate using this excuse, but it's a video game, not a real person under real stress (regardless of Mac Walters' attempts to "humanize" Shepard). Appearances are reasonably expected to be consistent in a visual medium. "His memory is a little fuzzy" is a sh*tty excuse.

I like the idea of an idealized memory. Miranda alive and whole, not associated with ME3 Cerberus, just beginning to smile and on the Normandy. Everything Shep wanted,
