So doesn't that mean Shepard and Kaidan are of the same military rank now?Made Nightwing wrote...
In the Alliance military, Staff Command IS full commander.
Shepard is only ever called 'Commander'. This could be a diminutive of either 'Lieutenant Commander' or 'Staff Commander'. There is no 'Commander'

Sorry if I sounded hostile. Didn't intend it that way. I think Shepard's probably a Lt. Commander, but we're never given a direct answer.
Anyway, better get back on topic.

Anyhow, the event in Germany is the next possible place where we might hear/see Miri related things?
I'm *really* hoping to see Miranda there. Being one of the first would be awesome. I'll be there on the first day, maybe on others, too, depending on events.

Same here Jebel, I'll be there on the Friday checking out ME3 for sure along with BF3 and lots more; should be a great day. I'm definitely looking forward to checking out a convention, will be the first gaming event I've been to as well.

As for actually playing a demo, I'd love to but I guess they won't have a PC version there, and I'm no good with an xbox controller. Moving works, but I'm lousy at aiming. Aiming fast....just doesn't work.

How often is someone promoted in the military?Arijharn wrote...

And can we please stop the military ranks talk. It's gone on for more than one page, and it is utterly boring.

Depends on the state and what country etc.. It happens more often during time of war/crisis, but after certain point, at least in Finland the commissioned officers get promoted once a year, max.

It depends of many things (and it doesn't work in all the country the same way). But being promoted twice in two years is very unlikely, especially with high ranking officers.
But in the game where a commander is leading a small squad on the battlefield (a NCO job) ... you can't expect something very accurate I guess.

Oh okay. Maybe Kaidan's promotions arent too strange then considering two years passed after Shepard blew up.Melrache wrote...

Ok so you say it's all strictly business 4 billion credits then you say a nurse smiles at her patient for reassurance. Which is it ? TIM spent 4 billion credits if it's just about keeping him alive for that reason she would have been at the monitor watching Wilson to make sure he doesn't screw up again. Not Smiling at Shepard. Right ? It's all about protecting the investment. Or is it ?Arijharn wrote...
I think you see things that you want to read imo, and I watched the short again to see if you're right or not. To me, she's just working to protect Cerberus' investment, considering they spent about 4 billion credits to resurrect him thus far, and therefore not keen to report to the Illusive Man: "Well, we revived him, but he went and died on us almost immediately." It's not at all unregular for nurses to smile at their charges as well, for no other reason than to give reassurance that they're in right hands.

Realistically speaking, how is it even possible for her to develop feelings for him before she's basically met him? I mean she's undoubtedly read Shephard's dossier, but she hasn't obviously held a conversation with him, or do you think she's just being quietly admiring his body for over 2 years, which seems incredible considering at the start she was probably up to her elbows in 'gore' (meat and tubes).
It's just plain unrealistic imo to expect that she's fallen for him at that early of a stage. I'm guessing if you're arguing this, then you pretty much have to believe in love at first sight, which I don't, so with that in mind I'll just stop the argument here now that I think about it.
This is my position on it.

[Agreed with all of these. I might add: Shepard challenges her. And Miranda likes a challenge. As I see it, their relationship will, at times, have elements of a competition.
It's very strange you mention that when I literally just wrote something to that effect moments before logging in.

Not trying to argue or anything but why is it so unlikely to have Ashley/Kaidan as an XO?
Kaidan is an officer, so it's not unlikely. An XO is an officier's position. He would've made it there if he put some work into it.
Ashley is a NCO, your basic grunt and automatically inelegible for the position since she's not an officer in both ME 1 and 2. Since it takes years to get an officier's commission, I doubt she'll be an officier rank in the following month's leading up to ME 3.
Plus, she has no taste for politics, diplomacy, and has no personal experiance in managment skills for beauracracy. Just combat leadership. An XO needs all of the above.

Your opinion is interesting.
Personally I don't agree, I think she fell for him during or just after her loyalty mission, before that, I would say that she respects the Spectre, and could be interested in Shepard as a person due to the fact that she knows everything about him.
But you're not the first one I see posting this kind of theory, and I don't see major flaws in it. It's just your interpretation of her romance.
