I do all my crafty stuff based off music and such too. Though I'm not as subliminal as Taboo.

Most of my stuff has to do with the Reaper war or their romance.

Taboo, I had another great idea for a song that narrates the Reaper war.

Knights of Cydonia

I enjoy playing games that's all. Some people don't like it. I won't apologize for eccentric behavior.

Even my last post on the last page was subliminal.

So I watched the romance scene earlier with surround sound on my television. They put an obscene amount of detail in the engine room sequence. I was impressed.

Muse died when they started doing Dubstep/Dubstep-like music.

Just my opinion.

Oh I love music. Fantastic for montage. Sergei Eisenstein would approve.

I have NINE David Bowie albums on my phone. NINE.

Let me guess, Uprising and Undisclosed Desires?

Both are damn good songs, especially the latter for the romance.

Resistance has some ****ing awesome songs for the romance and the war.

Shepard and Miranda's song will be 'Feeling Good'. I mean the Jazzy Nina Simone version. You can add the Muse version if you like.

Funny how Major Tom ended up having the same story as my Shepard did. I sat down and listened to all three songs again a few months ago in succession.

Yeah, well I have three Linkin Park albums!

I don't have a lot of full albums on my iPod. I have a couple of Kanye West albums (Late Registration, Graduation and MBDTF - waits for reprisal) and those three Linkin Park albums (Hybrid Theory, Meteora and Living Things).

Angel Dust (Faith No More) and Downward Spiral/Pretty Hate Machine (NiN).

Linkin Park is terrible. That kind of music is plain bad.

^ You should be listening to older Punk Rock.

Try Iggy Pop. I love that crazy son of a *itch.

A lot of music in Mass Effect sounds more Progressive which is why I like it so much.

I've heard older punk rock, and I'm not a fan. Sex Pistols, The Clash, The Ramones - not a fan. I respect their music, though.

Plus, new punk rock sucks so much that it ruins their music.

They all have the same roots. Linkin Park would not exist without Iggy Pop.

Iggy Pop would not have a career if it wasn't for David Bowie.

Take your pick.

I don't see why that means I should listen to him. I love Pepsi, but I don't need to drink Coke to appreciate it.

I'd say Linkin Park wouldn't exist without Faith No More. Faith No More really revolutionized the "rap/rock" Nu Metal thing.

that whole genre is full of crap.

Those idiots need to go spend a year playing in the mountains with the army, and get some things straightened out.

You misunderstand.

David Bowie was doing Proto-Metal in 1970 with The Man Who Sold the World. He was doing it at the same time as Black Sabbath.

Who influenced Trent Reznor more than anyone else? David Bowie. Where does Nu Metal come from? Nince Inch Nails. Where does Nine Inch Nails come from? David Bowie. Where does David Bowie come from? Bob Dylan and early rock musicians.

They can't exist without the other.

You're certainly entitled to feel that way.

Listen to "Waiting for the End." I'm not sure what you don't like about that genre, and I don't like A Thousands Suns, but I think that's a great song.

Let me put this in simpler terms.

If you're travelling at 60 MPH, it will take you 10 minutes to travel 10 miles. If you're travelling 20 miles at the same speed, the travel time is effectively doubled, since the speed that you're travelling is not relative. Which is my point.

If they are farther away, logic dictates that it would take them longer to get back, unless they were travelling at a relative speed. Straight line or not, sheer distance has to be taken into account. It takes light (travelling from the sun) longer to reach Pluto than it does Earth.

OK. Now, first, the planet is nonsensical. Let’s get that out of the way, and that said, we can deconstruct the problem:

0. The Normandy is in FTL, not relay transit. This is happening immediately as the Crucible fires, and it would have taken them ~5 hours to fly to the relay.

1. The ship has a maximum FTL speed. Let’s say it’s something like 1 ly/hour.

2. The time between the Crucible launching and the collapse of the Normandy’s FTL tunnel is minutes, as evidenced by the cinematics. More likely seconds, but at most minutes. If you wish to disprove this, you will need to provide an explanation and some kind of evidence.

3. Following from 1. and 2., the distance that the Normandy could have flown would be at a maximum a fraction, let’s say 5%, of a single light year. Certainly far enough to get out of Sol, but not into another star system.

4. There are star systems close to Sol; for example, the nearest known (as in, now in 2012) Earth-like planet is only about 10 ly away. We can assume that there are some habitable planets within some hundreds of light years.

5. Following from 3., the Normandy could not have made it to 4. under its own power.

6. Following from 5., the energy wave that collapsed the tunnel must have sped up the travel. We could consider this an actual wave for this purpose. However, it is not infinitely fast, nor as fast as relay travel. There is some limit to how far it could have sped the Normandy up. How fast? We don’t know for certain beyond saying that given the timeframe involved, it would have been in the low thousands of ly on the outside. Therefore:

7. The distance that the Normandy ultimately traveled depends on how long you want it to take for them to get back in your headcanon. If you want it to take about 6 months + 1 month of repairs on the planet, let’s say 180 * 15 ly = 2700 ly away (the Milky Way is about 100 000 ly across). This radius around Sol encompasses an enormous amount of star systems, one of which could possibly be said to have a  habitable planet that they crash-landed on.

Personally I went an entirely different route with the planet, but if you want to reconcile this way, the above is the outline you’d need to follow.

Edit: oops, said ‘galaxy’ when I meant star system.

Taboo, I know what you're saying. Nothing in music can exist without past influences, but I'm not going to listen to music I'm not big on just because they influenced a band that I actually like.

I'm not sure you're exactly saying that to me either, so I'm not sure what I'm arguing about.

fiendishchicken - I don't know what to tell you, then. There's not much more to say at this point. I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree.

oh, and ...

Bob Dylan - When I first heard Elvis' voice I just knew that I wasn't going to work for anybody; and nobody was going to be my boss. Hearing him for the first time was like busting out of jail.

Most possible don't, to avoid detection from organic species (eezo is a rich element, it can be scanned from orbit, I guess the levis wouldn't want an origanic discovering when they scan for minerals, right?)

No it isn't. It's just stated that eezo drive cores degenerate after a few centuries and that's why they need new eezo from time to time. Which their thralls get for them. They're very vulnerable.
