Let me ask a simple question that I think will clear things up for me.

Is a story that portrays (and ends with) a strong male character and a weak female character as the main characters fundamentally a sexist story that is the product of "laziness" and "inexperience"?

In fact, she doesn't even need to be weak. Let's say a weak or submissive female character.

. Not if that was its intent.  But apparently you can get away with anything by calling it art

As an isolated case, no.

Where I think many women take issue is that it is the continuation or 'promotion' of a stereotype that they
have worked so hard to disprove. Regardless of the intent of the author,
they are furthering this submissive, weak image of women.

I recognize that there are, indeed, differences between men and women. I am not offended by seeing some women in a supportive/submissive role. However, I would take issue with an author who took a character such as
Miranda (a character specifically portrayed as a strong, independent woman) and insinuated that she ought to shift her focus to more domestic matters.

That being said, I do not see Miranda as falling victim to this stereotype
(I'm with Taboo). But I also have a tendency to augment my gaming experiences with a vivid imagination :)

Sorry for jumping in on this debate...I hope I'm getting the context right?

OK, after something Taboo said ages ago, I did 'the engine room scene' with the music completely turned down.

All this time, I had no idea there were sound effects.

I like the little gasp Miranda lets out when Shepard approaches her.

:o

I'm going to do that for my entire next ME2/3 playthrough (with the execption of the nightclubs) for the added reals now.

Perfectly Posted Image

The main point of my earlier post was hopefully to identify some of the issues involved.

It's mostly sins of omission. Perhaps this question will make things clearer: Without referring to the email in Liara's terminal (written by another writer), what is Miranda doing during Earth? Her message, as wonderful "Find me" is is more befitting a civilian telling her husband goodbye. Miranda's love for Ori is good, but I shouldn't have to depend on text to know she's contributing to the war at all.

Officially she's off taking care of Ori somewhere I guess.

However, I would like to imagine she coordinates attacks with her ex-Cerberus guys on Earth... without fighters. That e-mail makes no sense to me.

Like it or not, females and males having different skills and occupying different roles is realistic.

Incorrect. People having different skills and occupying different roles is realistic.

Square-Enix (Play Arts) is creating the great looking Mass Effect Figures to add to your display collection. Knowing BioWare, unfortunately, they'll tell SE to created the ME3 Squad ONLY, for laughs.

She’s with the hospital fleet.

People tend to exaggerate the diversity though.

Or when they land. And you can hear the zipper.

I played the bit after with no music and it was...weird (not as weird as watching that other scene like that...). I love the ME2 music. More than I probably realised the first time. I guess a lot is nostalgia.

Yeah. The amount of detail they put in is absurd. It's good, but unexpected.

I get chills when I hear the music come in here. I miss this sort of atmospheric stuff, just the whole feel of it, that you can't really get during a Reaper invasion.

Just like one of the top comments says, the music gives a very Aliens-y vibe. Very atmospheric.

I had never really sat down and listened to the FP music. It ties with the Suicide Mission theme as my favorite piece.

It's a good ambient theme, but the Suicide Mission theme and the "Normandy" one are some of the best ambient pieces I've ever heard.

I was simply amazed from a technical perspective. They put in a lot of effort into the scene in the Engine Room.

He leans up and kisses her on the chest before she pushes him down on the floor and they put in a sound effect for it. Not necessary but they went the extra mile.

If you have the capabilities put on surround sound for the entire game.
