For example. Gary Oldman uses an American accent in the Nolan Batman films. But sometimes you can hear his British accent come through.
Inconsistent. Consistency.
My Shepard is OOC quite a bit too. He's no longer an emotional pragmatist or troll. Most of the time he looks like a Bipolar jackass. But I pass it off as an inconsistent consistency because some times he IS in character.
I deal with it.

You've read the debates of the last few days and you think a line said by Shepard or some character can't be that offensive to me?
Every time I play the prologue, I get close to shutting the game down again because that's not my Shepard talking to Anderson. So yes, some lines *are* that offensive. Unfortunately, none of my candidates can be removed by avoiding a conversation or killing someone off, or I'd do it in a heartbeat. The dreams are the worst. I HATE vent kid.
Yeah ME3 is hugely worse in that regard. Anderson stuff is very annoying, as are the stupid dream sequences. All part of the atrocious linear defined ME3 experience.

Do you know what an inconsistent consistency is? It's essentially something in theater or writing that should be consistent but sometimes there is a hiccup and things go awry.

As a certified House M.D. addict, I noticed this with Hugh Laurie on occasion. Just some words or phrases that he isn't capable of saying without the accent. Natural.
I don't mind the few moments when the writers seem to have taken things or decisions for granted and wrote such scenes only ONE way as a result, because let's face it... ALMOST everyone did it the exact same way. I just despise when they make decisions for me. Liara isn't my best friend. I don't give one damn about her blubbering in tears for 395898th time.
The most cringe-worthy moment is when Femshep has no choice but to fawn over Jacob in ME3 but then gets the "I cheated, pregnant, BOOM LOL" line dropped on her THEN she has no dialogue option to get po'd. That's where ME3 fails for me.

I don't talk to Liara because I don't like the dialogue. You CAN skip the "Project" scene with Liara if you don't talk to her.
I'd much rather help James or talk to Garrus. Anyone else can be avoided.

There isn't much you can do. I know my Shepard would be dreaming of things other than that damned child and so I'd I would imagine some nights he dreams of many burning people instead of that little **** in the vents.

Then don't go to the apartment.jtav wrote...
And if they're ME2 exclusive, it's even worse. Suppose my Shep were a Sole Survivor who hated Miranda. Just for the sake of argument. I skip her LM, but she survives because my HTL score is high. When she dies, Shepard is cradling her and Miranda is stroking Shepard's face. And before that you have Shepard being almost reverent in the apartment. And so on for others.
And unless said hypothetical Shep was a complete douchebag I think he could put aside his hatred for a few seconds, given you know, death (and a somewhat heroic one at that) particularly if it comes as a consequence of this "redemption arc" you're so on about.
As for Miranda herself, you are aware of the possibility of unrequited feelings right? Just because hypothetical Shep hates her doesn't mean she hates him. Hell Liara should've clued you into that one.

That would work - if the offending parts were always located in an avoidable conversation. But they aren't.
So yeah, it's easier to just kill someone than to go over the game and check if those parts you'd like to avoid can be avoided.
Unfortunately, that doesn't work with Anderson.

Personally, I can see why the Cerberus-related characters never really got an arc. Because it's all black-and-white, there's no decision to be made like with the genophage or geth/quarian bits. It's just 'go kill all the Cerberus. DO IT'. Shame, really.

Haven't we all awaited a decision like this: Miranda takes over what remains of Cerberus, repurposing it to help Shepard in the war, or destroys it completely? If Jacob and Kelly (!!!!) can grant us ex-Cerberus resources, why can't Miranda?hot_heart wrote...

It escapes my comprehension that they didn't go that route with her.

No.
You must dream about the small child on Earth. It's SO DEEP.
Edit: ...and disagreements are the lifeblood of internet forums. If everyone agreed about everything all the time, this would be totally uninteresting.
