I'm confused, what's so wrong with that? Assuming we believe the order you read the dossiers is the order in when they were sent - that means when the book was read is open for interpretation, seeing as she had searched in regards to Shepard and Saren as well in that one - so it could be pre-Lazarus or during. So saying a shift in her writing occured when the possibility that the book could have happened well before her interactions with Shepard.
Or, in my theory, she got the book to begin with to build up a profile for the online dating site to lure in prospective men for her to be with. Most men would be afraid of a strong woman like her, and thus, shy away from someone with her capabilities. Her reading up on the book could have given her information to build up her profile to appeal to a normal man whilst keeping who she truly is hidden.
As for the pregnancy thing, seeing as it's the last of the dossiers - past her interaction with Oriana, means one can probably assume the examination came after her time with Shepard. How is her curiosity on just her limits with what she can or cannot since she is not naturally bred a detterance from her character?
Why she did either of those things and the timeline of it could be an interestesting discussion but it is, ultimately pointless. What is important is not why Miranda did those things but why the developers put them in the dossier.
Let's see:
"Subscription Cancelled: BioTech Research Quarterly
Vid Book Purchased: "Men are from Omega, Women are from Illium"
Is it a coincidence Miranda cancelled a subscription to a scientific magazine right before she bought a book on relationships or are the developers trying to tell us that her work serves as a replacement for what she truly wants? A husband and children (which is the most common interpretation of the "pregnancy thing")
This seems supported by her actions in the game, in particular this dying line "Marriage, children...things I could never have" (excuse while I wash my keyboard)
That is not to say Miranda wanting a love life or children would, automatically, be a detterance from her character. The way it was presented, however, was. Miranda's concern in ME3 are reserved solely for Oriana and a romanced Shepard. She doesn't deal with Cerberus at all. Her passion for her work, her ambitions are all gone
Therefore, lorewise, Miranda might have bought the book before she met Shepard. The Miranda we fell in love with in ME2 migth have wanted a family even them.
But we consider the dossier important because we view it as an hint the developers intended to have Miranda's content in ME3 be nothing more than a poor rehash of her Loyalty Mission as early as when they were producing "Lair of the Shadow Broker".
