I think we're like-minded here; much as I like Miranda, she's not the reason I started playing Mass Effect and she isn't the reason I'm going to finish.Jonathan Tavier wrote...
I would be extremely upset and dissapointed that my favorite character and LI wouldn't be by Shepard's side in ME3. That being said though, I'd still buy the game. I was already very much invested in the series before ME2 came out and want to see the conclusion.

I'm genuinely on the edge. I see your point of view, but knowing that I'd be playing ME3 without having Miranda at my side would make it feel like a substantially lesser experience.
I respect her, I admire her and I adore her. I need her with me.

Define "reduced role." If it's Horizon 2.0, I'll be furious. If it's LOTSB complete with her receiving power and revealing goals not tied to Shepard, I'll be very pleased.

It depends :
- if she's a cameo I won't buy & play to the game
- if she's a temp squadmate, maybe I will buy and play to the game, but just one playthrough for the main story.
I wouldn't make this decision lightly : I'm Bioware games fan, I bought and played to nearly all Bioware games, but I won't be able to play to ME3 if Miranda has not a significant screen time.

Trust me, I feel the same way. It would definitely be a substantially lesser experience for me as well. But I really want to experience the final chapter in the series. I love the story too much to not buy the game.
I do really hope Miri is a permanent squadmate in ME3, while at the same time having a role where she isn't completely overshadowed by Shepard.

My thoughts exactly. It was very refreshing to have someone on the Normandy who wasn't just there "along for the ride" so to speak. The mission was everything to Miranda and she worked very hard for it to succeed. Why wouldn't anyone want an XO who knows exactly what they're doing and is wholly dedicated to it?
I think I needn't add that I want her to be my XO again.

Every other character would have to be reduced just as much otherwise I would flip.

Okay, so let's get opinions on one of the questions asked....
How do you think Miranda has spent the time between games?
Ensuring her sister's safety and finding ways to take down Cerberus, perhaps.
