@flemm
I readily understand the concept you're painting I simply can't relate to the example as I've never watched Deep Space Nine. From what I've been reading about it I should add it to my very long list of "Things the BSN has convinced Taboo to watch list". I think the maturity comes from looking at everything and realizing that sometimes your logic isn't as perfect as you once thought it was. Maturity comes from the self reflection. And I think she'll be doing quite a bit of that.
I just wish she'd talked about it more!

No nuance there, either.
Regarding Cerberus' identity, following ME2 the opportunity certainly existed to portray it as morally gray. That isn't the path the writers' chose, but it could have been handled that way.
I think, personally, that turning Cerberus into basically the main enemy in ME3 was a bad idea largely for practical reasons. The focus isn't where it should be (on the Reapers).
But ultimately I don't really care about Cerberus per se much at all. Under the current circumstances, Miranda should be opposing it openly as leader or prominent part of an ex-Cerberus group.

They could have changed it into one, yes. Good thing they didn’t. It would’ve been, how do you say it…OOC?

Cerberus' nature is up in the air in ME2. It's a prominent feature of the game. The writers decided to resolve it a certain way, but there were always other options.

The Lazarus Cell that is headed by Miranda is grey. That's what Cerberus should be. Willing to protect humanity without interference from the Council. And guess what? They'll work with aliens too!
And you know what? They did a bang up job without any Alliance paper work or interference. Oh and without any kidnapping and torturing of children!
And I miss Rupert. I loved that guy.

Yep, they came up with the whole resurrection thing on the back of a napkin. Drew a couple diagrams with pencils on graph paper and that was it. No research was involved, no sirree.
Also, the funding came straight from their previous project: money trees. Total cost was a little sun and fertilizer.
…
@flemm: No, they really weren’t. ME Cerberus was evil. ME2 Cerberus was evil. ME3 Cerberus was to be evil, too.

Mainly what we see Cerberus do in ME2 is save a lot of lives and defeat the Collectors. Definitely not evil.
In addition to bringing the galaxy's future savior back to life. So... meh.
But, at the end of the day, I don't really care about Cerberus or how it is portrayed in particular.

You do too, admit it!
What I care about is how *Miranda* is portrayed
For the rest, I might say something like "Hmmm, not sure that was the best choice," but, beyond that, I wouldn't really be invested in it at all, no.

That's kind of the point flemm and I were making. Character growth. Self realization and self-reflection is key here.

And what Miranda espoused was definitely a lighter shade of gray. A lot of us were 100% behind the vision of humanity's STG. And it's clearly something she actually believes in, not a rationalization she uses because they give her a sense of belonging/protect Oriana. ME3 Cerberus betrays that vision and the game gives nothing to replace it. Until, ironically, the ending where Shepard forcibly imposes a new order.
Actually the report given after her loyalty mission says otherwise...

If they kill it, it retroactively deserved to die

Then she’s either wrong, or stupid.
Cerberus is a confirmed, actual terrorist organization. This is an indisputable, known fact to every being in the ME universe.
I eagerly await some kind of a rational pretzelification explaining how she was unaware of this all.

That was a Pink Floyd reference not an Insane Clown Posse reference.
Should I stick to to the Bowie ones?
The fly did indeed try to break our balls.
