I'm consistent. I don't look at Star Wars or Star Trek or Halo or Dead Space or whatever and say "Wow, it's so scientific and realistic and awesome!!!!" and then look at Mass Effect and say "Lolz it's fantasy cuz it's got husks and people r infertile." That's ridiculous. And it's exactly what that post was doing.

I don't like Synthesis one bit, and I would scrap in it a heartbeat. But Mass Effect is far, far better than almost anything out there.

He is talking about certain things being added that he doesn't like that's all.

He's done a great deal of things for Synthesis and he deserves your respect for it.

Don't know if anyone reads 'BioWare According to Mom', but this was funny.

. She's a driven and ambitious woman.  Focused on work and dedicated to family.  What's not to like?

Well, there's the whole "affiliated with a high-profile terrorist organization" bit.

It's a minor detail.

No need to bring it up at dinner.

Strictly spoken she says she wished Oriana to have that. Since "things I could never have" is completely implausible (see the debates about the infertility and a possible cure) I ignore that part. Bah, the writers should remember that they're in a sci-fi universe. Undead in space, vitalism, Miranda's infertility, Shepard's sacrifice in Synthesis etc. etc. etc. Sometimes I feel like they just transferred a gazillion fantasy tropes into space and called it sci-fi.

You made the mistake of thinking about it. Just use your gut Image IPB

To quote the great Stephen Colbert:

[i]That's where the truth lies, right down here in the gut. Do you know you have more nerve endings in your gut than you have in your head? You can look it up.

Now, I know some of you are going to say: "I did look it up, and that's not true." That's because you looked it up in a book. Next time, look it up in your gut. I did. My gut tells me that's how our nervous system works.

Bah. I won't fall prey to delusions just because some second-rate writer expects me to. The "truth of the gut" was what lead to fascism. classical Romanticism is nice for inspiring art, but if you're looking for truth, look elsewhere.

Yeah, I know you meant this only half-seriously. but this is the shortest rant I could come up with.

So from Miranda mentioning "things I could never have" we've gone to seriously thinking that now Mac Walters expects us to trust the "truth of our gut." Is that about right?
