I don't want to get into a whole endings discussion but, essentially, these are mental 'workarounds' that go against the intent of BioWare. This can apply to many areas outside of the endings.

I'm not saying that you have to accept them (because some really do stretch credulity), it's just that we all tend to cherry-pick which bits we like to acknowledge, and that will vary from person to person.

Well I've made the point before that arguing over intent is useless without clarification from the source.

And like jtav pointed out, debates (the good ones anyway) tend to stick with in-game facts. If you go too far into headcanon land, you'll usually be called out on it.

In any case, given the ****pile we're left with I can safely say I don't give a rat's ass what Bioware's intent is.

If we accepted Bioware intent the galaxy would've stayed irrevesibly screwed. As it is it's only 98% screwed.

I sure picked a hell of a day to not go on BSN.

The Doctors retire, Omega DLC is announced and a new Mass Effect game is in the works.

My timing be bad, yo.

True.

Divine intervention, perhaps.

As you're probably aware, I'm not really arguing or disagreeing with you. But you've already acknowledged that BioWare was trying to 'balance' the endings, so negating certain factors as presented would be undermining their intent.

That's all I'm saying, really. Nothing against doing that, just that it's important to recognise that we all tend to play a little loose with certain factors or feel comfortable challenging BioWare's decisions based around such things. In regards to the original topic, it would be the altered representation of Cerberus (which has its clarification in an interview linked earlier).

I wasn't really too upset with Cerberus going all the way bad. BW need their geth of ME/collectors of ME2 for ME3, and Cerberus was an easy target to do so. As I said earlier in the thread as well, I feel Cerberus' morality shift was foreshadowed (somewhat) in the ME2 mission reports; specifically the one after the derelict Reaper.

Oh, no, we're talking about between ME1 and 2.

But on that topic, yes, I don't really have a problem with what happened with Cerberus in ME3 because it is, as you say, foreshadowed and it's indoctrination and all that (though, the massive increase in manpower and resources is...odd). And Miranda knew when to get out. I think some people just wished that things hadn't become so blunt. Of course, you'd have to completely rewrite the game for that, but I think a more subtle sort of betrayal would've been interesting to see. Have them as an uneasy (and unwanted?) ally. Perhaps have them try and infiltrate the Crucible project, something like that.

My bad. Guess I wasn't paying attention.

There's some part of me that wanted an "Anakin" moment of ME3; it goes against the aura of Shepard, but yes, I mean Shepard gone bad. Of course, you find out Vader is a tragic hero in the end (well, the beginning, I guess), but my point still remains.

Was my idea so bad that everyone left the thread?

...or is it a slow time for the Miranda thread, and I'm being paranoid?

Hmmm.

Your idea was so bad, I retroactively deleted all my posts from today.

And, actually, yeah, I thought there would be a more pro cerberus way to play ME3 (though I paid little attention to development until a month before it came out) and I was suprised you were shoehorned out of cerberus so blatantly.

...Then again, I don't know how feasible a pro-cerberus shep would have been.  It might have had to be a totally different game?

I think they could have broke it off at the Cerberus coup attempt. Of course, they would have needed more time to flesh both storylines out (Shepard staying with the Alliance or rejoining Cerberus), which they just didn't have.

...because reasons.

I'm glad you get the reference, but I wasn't aware I made one. Maybe I'm...losing my touch.

Speaking of Boo Boo, has anyone watched "Here Comes Honey Boo Boo" yet?

Greatest show of all-time, tbh.
