It's a non issue. I'm less interested in that than the other parts of the dossier.

It's only a big deal to the people here who treat it like the worst thing since Synthesis (whom I won't name).

It's hardly the worst part of her dossier, however.

Funny, isn't it? How every other dossier has at least 1 enjoyable aspect, while Miranda's is almost universally garbage in it's own fashion.

1.  There has never been anything as bad as synthesis.  The black death was better than synthesis.

2.  That's a good point I never even noticed.  Hate or love Miranda's dossier, there isn't anything in there that's fun (unless the whole barefoot housewives monthly subscription is your idea of fun).  I mean, Jack gets to write poetry and Jake does Patrick Bateman level sit-ups.

Miranda just has a sad...

Why Is Miranda's sterility such a big deal to everyone here?

(1) Because it makes her genetic engineering look bad. By suggestion.
(2) Because it makes no f*cking sense given the level of medical technology in the ME universe.
(3) Because it's one step into making her care only about family, removing her ideals about advancing humanity from her.

Edit:
I wish the Synthesis hate wouldn't intrude here. Can we *please* stick to Miranda? To think I used to feel rather at home here.... Perhaps it's time to  leave BSN. I feel the motivation to put up with the crap leaving me.

Yeah i don't like the implied genetic engineering is bad by suggestion vibe.
The condition is silly and as Ieldra points out should be curable.
As a plot point as of itself i don't really care as there are so many ways round her infertility Genetic engineering/surrogacy etc that Miranda will have a child if she wants one.

I think you all assume too much here.  Medical science is so far beyond where it was 1,000 years ago that it would seem like magic to someone from then.

We still have diseases we can't cure.

It's perfectly rational to think there are things we can't do in the future.

I completely agree. Its just another reason why I usually ignore her dossier. I don't have a problem with her caring about family per se, but not at the expense of her ideals/professionalism.

Yes but infertility is something that, effectively speaking, we can cure today (surrogacy, artificial insemination, in vitro fertilisation etc). Or at least make it a non-issue. Given the technological advancements made in the ME series, having someone affected by such a problem doesn't make sense to me.

Infertility is not something we can totally cure, though it is rare.

And in the future, the conditions may have changed.  She could be exposed to things that we aren't exposed to living on earth.  Or the human genome could have evolved to allow different defects.

Hell, we can't even heal the scars on Garrus' face.

Well it depends on why Miranda is infertile. As long as her eggs are viable (god that sounds weird), her having a child is completely possible. But if the problem is her inability to produce them, then I guess I could see how it might be more of an issue. I'm not sure if we could create an ovum...maybe. But it would be a significantly more difficult task.

Hey, Chakwa's totally offered to heal Garrus's scars in ME3. He thinks they're sexy! He's right :P
