Ash/Kaidan make more sense as an XO.

Yup. Other than the whole "pulling a gun on a superior officer" thing, and the "getting totally wasted on a military vessel".

They're both alliance.  Miranda is legally a terrorist.  That's her legal standing in the universe.

You're allowed to drink off duty.  Shep and Chakwas have done the same.

She pulls a gun because it's a tense situation, she's doing her job, and shep is a recent cerberus employee.

ME3 features shep returning to the alliance.  Kaidan/Ashley are the correct choice to be the XO.

. 2nd worst part then, I'll take the auto dialogue, I'll put up with character simplification or elimination, I'll deal with Harbinger and TIM's crap roles, lack of Miranda, I'll accept the rachni's return, I'll acknowledge the crucible, I'll struggle through Kai Leng's dance recital, but I will not stand Liara's blatant favoritism by Mac Walters. I would rather have Jacob back than have her on my ship.

Well, if we're speaking truth here, Liara is the XO dawg. She has the old XO office, after all.

...Liara isn't part of the alliance, she has no rank.  Ashley is a Lt Commander, one rank below Shep.

She just has that office because it's literally meaningless to shep.  He let her take it without a second though.

That's terrible logic. Going by it, James can also be Shepard's XO, and James is far too green to be anything other than the Gears of War reject that he is.

You're allowed to drink off duty.  Shep and Chakwas have done the same.

Shepard and Chakwas didn't drink to the point of passing out. Chakwas' brandy also isn't contraband.

She pulls a gun because it's a tense situation, she's doing her job, and shep is a recent cerberus employee.

Don't forget, she's Alliance! Just like Shepard!

For f**ks sake, if Shepard was still aligned with Cerberus, why would Shepard have turned themselves intot he Alliance, and why would Shepard be actively opposing them? Either TIM and Shepard are really good actors, or Kaidan and Ashley are just being obtuse morons for the sake of "tension" and "drama".

ME3 features shep returning to the alliance.

Don't tell that to Casey Hudson. "You can role-play an anti-Alliance Shepard"

Kaidan/Ashley are the correct choice to be the XO.

According to who? You? Admiral Hackett? Shepard? Between the two, only Kaidan would be fit to be XO, given his rank and sevice length, and Kaidan is a stain on Virmire in all of my saves. Are Ashley and Kaidan even referred to as an XO in-game, or are you just making things up?

Liara gets the XO office because we love Liara of course!!!!!! And because there is no "have Javik toss the whining idiot out the airlock" option

Well, if you want to get all technical, Mr Technicality, Shepard's always been more of a Spectre than an Alliance soldier (at least in the content of the three games and events we actually see); and that only increases as the three games go on. Plus, Liara is actually working on the Alliance's behalf (on Mars) in ME3 and even has a nice little piece of armor to prove so.

...and to be honest, the only person on the Normandy that deserves the XO title in ME3 is Garrus scrah.

That really confused me in ME3. In ME2 Harbinger was pretty much your arch nemesis, I don't care what Starkid says he's pretty much the Cuttlefish-In-Cheif of the Reaper fleet. And all he does is just stand there firing particle beams at me, he doesn't even say anything:

Earth

Shepard: Uh, aren't you going to say anything?

Harbinger: WHAT?

Shepard: It's just, I kind of blew up the Collector Base and you gave this monologue about how you were going to destroy everything I held dear...

Harbinger: YOU WANT US TO CONTINUE?

Shepard: I guess so?

Harbinger: WE WERE TOLD THAT OUR TAUNTING WAS AWKWARD. WE HAVE REMAINED SILENT SINCE THEN.

Shepard: Well it's kind of late in the game to restart the whole nemesis thing. I mean either way I'm taking the beam to the Citadel and sending you to robot hell.

Harbinger: THAT HURTS US.

Harby speaks in dubstep in ME3, something no one can understand.

Sure.  That's why he always goes by the name commander.

And he's not even really a spectre in the second one.

And he is in the third, but it's a total afterthought.  His military content is the focus of the story.

And Liara totally has sex with Javik in Miranda's bed at some point.

Then why did the turian councillor say "We're going to reinstate your Spectre status so long as you stick to the Terminus systems"? Was he talking to somebody else named Shepard?

Because it's more a formality and for show.  I'm pretty sure Anderson says as much.

And that's only if you saved the council.

Why would a pro-cerberus terrorist like you sacrifice human life to save aliens.

. Then why is he called Commander in ME2?

Semantics. Everyone knows Shepard as "the first human Spectre," not "the Commander in the Alliance." Shepard has the autority to do things as a Spectre that a regular Alliance Commander could never dream of.

krukow wrote...

While you can tell the Council to shove the offer (or tell Anderson it's a meaningless relic if you destroy the original Council who gave you the title), you still have the choice to work covertly as a Spectre if you choose to.

And? "We're going to reinstate your Spectre status" sounds pretty concrete. Never mind that the only reason it's more "symbolic" than anything is ebcause Shepard died, not because of Cerberus.

And that's only if you saved the council.

Literally the exact same thing happens with Anderson. "We're going-" becomes "I wil-l".

Get your story straight yo.

Just as soon as you present a compelling argument.

See, I like her, but I detest her stalky, ridiculous, BioWare meant you to be with me so why aren't you with me side. That really gets on my nerves. You are not Miranda, get the **** outa my cabin. And don't you come a-knockin' again!

Really? Are we really gonna start this all over again? Or perhaps it was unintentional?
