This is very true.  Shep probably gets away with a lot more in ME2/ME3 than your average Spectre or Alliance soldier should, and we shouldn't take Shep's experience as indicative of what being a Spectre is "usually" like.  Are you really going to try and rules lawyer someone who's saved trillions of lives multiple times over, come back from the dead, and personally murdered Reapers?

out of the 4 spectres we see, only jondum bau seems to be a "plays by the rules" type: shepard, saren and vasir all pretty much meet the "ends justify any means" philosophy of doing things. which is awesome.

Don't forget Nihlus. He seems to be by the book.

Of course. Nihlus is one of the most honorable men in the MEU. That's unquestioned tbh.

He didn't mind getting his hands dirty, though. Think back to the coversation with Samara on ME2. He could get down-and-dirty with the best of them. Putting Samara in such a situation (and surviving a two week battle with her) is not to be scoffed at; very crafty man, that Nihlus.

The VS. Either one is going to be by the book. Especially Ashley.

Versus Shepard. Spectre is just a title on his name. He realizes it means ****, which is why he tells the council where to shove it. He's the only one that can do anything to stop the Reapers, and he's going to do whatever he has to do, spectre or no.

Shepard doesn't give a rat's ass about the council, or the alliance, or anyone elses authority. He'll listen as long as it's reasonable and makes sense, but he'll do his own thing when necessary.

He's trying to save the galaxy, and Miranda. He doesn't have time for groups that impede him from that. Which is why he loathes the council and the alliance.

For all the bad Cerberus does, they still have a plan. He sees that. And if it had worked, he would have gone down on one knee and thanked TIM for it.

As to the XO question, Shepard doesn't give two ****s about what the alliance says. His XO is Garrus and Joker FTTB. When Miranda returns she gets the job.

forgot nihlus but he's not in it enough to properly gauge (unlike bau in his brief appearance) though i agree probably a paragon type spectre. I don't count the VS as a proper example as neither are the caliber of the others.

Don't tell Krukow that.

They were both only taken so that Udina could have a pawn in his scheme. Mind you, I still don't quite get what the whole point of Cerberus taking over the citadel was. From their perspective, their was no obvious strategic purpose.

Maybe for the Reapers.

This was before the knowledge that the Citadel housed the glow stick was known.

Nihlus does move faster on his own. But not fast enough to dodge Saren's bullet!

I was thinking about Shepard and Miranda leaving the pornography for the Alliance last night.

My Shepard would convince her to do it. He's rubbed off on her.

No.

They'll have Joker do it.

That was kind of my point. Upload seven zetabytes of porn to her father's computers so that's all the Alliance can see.

No money. But loads of porn.

As for funding, they'll get their money the same way TIM did.

Maybe they'll have a reformed Russian arms dealer give them his entire billion dollar fortune for them to use as their wedding present. ;)

They'll also take any Cerberus assets remaining from underneath the alliance.

And they'll have all the SB's assets too.

That's enough to really screw with someones computers. A zettabyte of spam would **** up your day. And year.

Consider this. All the IT information used by Americans in 2008 was equal to 3.8 Zettabytes.

I know very little about such things. Which is why I'll need assistance when purchasing a new laptop.

People keep telling me I'll love The Witcher series so I said fine.

You'll love it Taboo! It has taboos!

^ Byte counts are completely irrelevant unless the target system’s bandwidth and processing capability is known.

That said, from the context it is apparent that it is beyond the capacity of the target.

As I said I don't know anything about this.

It's as much a FU as it is something that wouldn't be OOC for my Shepard.

There is no autodialouge in my head canon you see.

A one zettabyte hardrive today would be roughly the size of a car. Probably larger.

They just won an unwinnable war. She was (a small compared to ashley) part of that. She'd be a hero just like everyone else.

Her role in comparison to Ashley's was far larger. Ashley was out of the fight for the first 1/3 of the game, and even after that she was only an infantryman by Shepard. Her role is then determined by how much you took her (which, for me, is nowhere at all), or if you even invited her back to the Normandy in the first place.

Sure, and that’s useful context, but in the same vein, all the processing power in the world right now might not be sufficient to run EDI. It’s all relative.

Miranda as a spectre.... Unlikely mostly because I don't see her responding well under council authority. I think shed rather do her own organization.

While forming a new organization is the most likely outcome, I can actually see Miranda acting as a Spectre. The bureaucracy isn't all that egregious, really. All you have to do is report to the Council and report your mission (something she had been doing in Cerberus already, so nothing new there) and make sure you don't commit any war crimes.

"They give me my resources and say 'do it'" seems to fit rather nicely in regards to the Spectres.

The base concept could be similar to that. However you have to factor in what the council will say about it.

I suppose is Shepard was there they might feel a bit better about it. And Miranda would keep him in check.

Who cares what the Council says? They give the Spectres free reign. Whether or not they approve or disapprove, they can't do anything unless the Spectre-in-question is on Saren's level of inhumanity.
