TIMs biggest mistake was withdrawing from society.

You can't expect me to believe that they'll be sitting side by side smoking and drinking in funny little chairs.

You have to see what's happening in the Galaxy first hand. To understand the needs of the people you need to protect. That's the difference.

Using something as a front sounds like a good idea you simply have to be smart about it.

TIM would've been fine if he hadn't started behaving like a common thug, having people whacked for uncovering sensitive information. If he was good enough, that information would've never been uncovered or he would've neutralized it by other means.

In any case, this level of secrecy does not require total seclusion. Hiding in plain sight is very much a viable tactic, at least part of the time.

That's my point. With his type of behavior he'd eventually muck up and he does.

Shepard and Miranda can balance the other one out. TIM...didn't have anything of the sort.

Sort of like Eve and Wrex. Together they can balance each other out. If that makes sense.

Well, both, in a sense. You're right, of course, that it's open to debate or speculation. But I also meant that, as an argument for us to engage in, it has little practical value past a certain point.

That doesn't mean that the "why" is not important, though. It is very important, of course.

Yeah, I think you were approaching it from a much broader angle than I was (which, obviously, isn't a bad thing). :P

As in, the distinction between 'this is how a self-contained side story arc might look under possible production constraints' and 'this is the psychology and history behind storytelling bias and the resultant representation concerning [Character A]'.

I still think it sounds like she tries to break it off during the last holocall.

That's why I'm not really a fan of that last conversation.

I have it headcanoned as Miranda is terrified that is going to die, and she is trying her hardest to keep her distance from him.

She does seem almost precognitive during that last conversation. :P

But, yeah, I think that's the idea. There's that brief moment of doubt, where she tries to spare herself - or him - the pain but then he talks her round and makes a promise.

That's the way I saw it anyway.

I see it as one reason she doesn't join up with you the whole game. She's still unsure of her feelings towards him. She's in love with him, but she doesn't realize it, and she doesn't know how to deal with her feelings. Being away from him hurts, but she wants to be away from him because she believes she'll have her heart broken if he gets killed. I have her confessing to him a lot of her fears to him after the war. She confesses her infertility, and that she doesn't believe that he could ever be happy with her. Of course, Shepard brings her around.

Take it from Chuck in the early days. Everyone comments that Sarah really likes Chuck almost from the get go, but both she and Chuck deny it.

Her friend comments to Chuck that she wants to sleep with him, because she always takes what Sarah wants. Chuck says that Sarah is a super hot secret agent and that she would have no interest in him, and Sarahs friend mentions that Sarah probably doesn't even realize it herself that shes in love with him yet

You guys altered my text. Obviously, I don't mind that at all, since it's your story.

...but people might start thinking I don't know the difference between its and it's.

The horror. THE HORROR. :P

I wasn't aware he was ever part of society, at least as "The Illusive Man." That's how he got his name, after all. No one (The Alliance in relativeness to the name) knows who he is.

The Illusive Man's problem was getting caught, but the only reason he got caught was because of Mr. Leng and Miranda.

Don't badmouth TIM. He had it right. If he wasn't indoctrinated, he wouldn't have hesitated to take control of the Reapers. And despite what the indoctrination did to him, he was deep down looking out for humanity

He deserved better than what he got in ME3

And he's got that uber cool, chillaxing billionare feel to him.

Total Badass

I find it best not to glamorize certain things. Also, the thing with flemm is a joke.

And Nihlus, dawg, I can't find you on Skype. You'll have to add me.

I will totally agree with this.  I like smart antagonists.  Jon Irenicus of BG2 and Master Li of Jade Empire come to mind.  If TIM had to be just a bad guy in ME3, he could've been at least a smart bad guy instead of some stereotyped monstrosity cackling on his skull throne or something.

Nihlus found me on XBL.

I'd play with Ventus but he broke his mic.

It was a damn Turtle B*tch anyway. Good riddance.

He's like the fallen protagonist or tragic villain. He tried to do the right thing but was corrupted and twisted into a perverted mockery of his original ideals and goals. Shepard says it himself, the Reapers have them fighting each other instead of them.

Jon Irenicus was the same way. And he actually STEALS your soul in BG2. TIM has nothing on that guy.

I'd like to clarify that a "nerd on" is not the same as a "hard on".

It should be noted that he still follows the concept of corruption that so many other Bioware villains have in the past.

Sarevok. Irenicus. Not quite the same but they all put on facades to mask their true intentions.

I CANNOT WAIT UNTIL THEY RELEASE THE REMASTERED VERSIONS.

I call it a turtle b*tch because their F*ucking cheap as hell.

F*ckers can hear everything. It's damn near impossible to sneak up on them during a matchmaking game on XBL.
