Where I do disagree is that in the case of an opinion or interpretation (whether this is political or otherwise), there are no self-evident facts. Leave that to mathematics and science, please. We are not dealing with an objective truth but individual stand points that are the result of a unique combination of nature and nurture. It is also incorrect to assume that, because your opinion is currently in the majority, that it is superior. There are many confounding factors that influence what the 'majority' is at any one time. Particularly on an internet forum. The demographics and frequency of the individuals responding is the least of these. You yourself have commented upon how this thread has changed. Is your opinion lessened because it is in the minority? No. At least not as I see it.
When I said self-evident facts, I was thinking of in-game evidence or other "basic truths" (or at least assumptions). No matter what you're arguing at some point you have to have some starting ground that you just accept.
And nowhere did I say the majority opinion is superior. However if it is defended with superior arguments (i.e. better ones) it will remain the majority opinion until such time as better arguments are made for a change (and subsequently accepted).
My comments were quite clear. I invoked nothing of majorities or minorities. I simply said that when I first joined, we carried intelligent fruitful discussion, whereas now there seems to be more character bashing and personal attacks.
Minority/majority only came into it when Taboo and others jumped on the issue to take a jab at some older members for their opinions. I hold myself separate from all this.
