Terminate. Terminate with extreme prejudice.

I fight for the Idea of America. The basic tenants of life and freedom outlined in the Constitution of the United States of America.

A hero of mine once had this to say about America:

This is a different kind of army. If you look at history you'll see men fight for pay, or women, or some other kind of loot. They fight for land, or because a king makes them, or just because they like killing. But we're here for something new. This has not happened much, in the history of the world: We are an army out to set other men free. America should be free ground, all of it, from here to the Pacific Ocean. No man has to bow, no man born to royalty. Here we judge you by what you do, not by who your father was. Here you can be something. Here is the place to build a home. But it's not the land. There's always more land. It's the idea that we all have value, you and me. What we're fighting for, in the end... we're fighting for each other.

His name was Colonel Joshua Lawrence Chamberlain. You may have heard of him; his tactics at Little Roundtop almost single-handedly saved the Union at the Battle of Gettysburg.

I wouldn't so far as to say single handily. Although the victory at Gettysburg was hugely important, even had the Union lost the battle they still would have won the war. And Pickett's charge......, really Lee? Too bad my ancestor got stuck with the blame

And let's be honest here America was founded by rich white guys who were scared that wouldn't be able to stay rich. Not hating on America here, but it's just true

1.  That's so simplisticly stupid I just had a mini-stroke.
2.  By  your standards, you could say that about every country ever, EVER.

No ****. It's still a problem today.

If I recall correctly the Rich v. Poor thing is still an issue in Mass Effect. But we've managed to cure most diseases...

wat.

Human issues krukow.

Tay Sachs. Down Syndrome. Cystic Fibrosis.

Which makes Miranda's fertility issues all the more a form of pity pandering. What an easy thing to fix.

. Yes an extreme oversimplification but at its essence the American Revolution was rather strange.  We were not being oppressed or persecuted.  Compared to the French or Russian revolutions ours was pretty undeserved.  We were whining about taxes, they were staving while the royalty feasted.  They died in the millions from famine and war.  We had to pay taxes

My comments were quite clear. I invoked nothing of majorities or minorities. I simply said that when I first joined, we carried intelligent fruitful discussion, whereas now there seems to be more character bashing and personal attacks.

Basically, this thread has turned into what the Tali thread used to be. I have little motivation to wade through twenty pages of fluff, chat, trolling and personal attacks to find the two or three posts worth reading. Following the thread has become a chore.

I'd rather have one page per day of interesting posts than this. It's a sad state of things after two and a half years.

Ditto.

Complains about content -> Makes no steps to solve the problem

Complains about content in the thread -> Makes no steps to add to the conversation

Perhaps the problem is that people aren't talking about what you want.

THAT is a sad state of affairs.

If anything, the problem with this thread is that the conversation moves so fast that interesting ideas are discussed and moved on from in like 2 hours...

I think Miranda's infertility makes sense from a story telling perspective. She's exemplify's what it means to be human is perfect in every way has perfect genes yet she cannot pass them on. Miranda shows herself to be someone who's willing to do whatever it takes to get the job done which makes her infertility a sort of penance for the cost of genetic engineering which makes her character instead of being a sort of shinning example of the future of humanity into a more tragic one. I hear alot of people complain that Miranda's infertility is a bad thing because her motivation to be an excellent spy/operative and her love of her sister should come from within and not because "I could never have a normal life" but doesn't she not even find out she's infertile until midway through ME2?

edit: i do think it's something that in this universe probably could be cured. I mean they cured death for gods sake but thats not really the point of making her infertile. I think it's there to show that what Miranda is is not natural.

But I don't want to move on. I'm happy, where I'm at is ok, at least with this thread.

I still haven't moved on from Chuck.

Miranda discussion question:

If Miranda could replace one existing squadmate, that is not James (you all knw you would pick him). Who would you replace and how would you write them off?

For me it'd be Liara, death by vacuum exposure

I'm not talking about you chicken.

She finds out she can't have children sometime AFTER the conversation with her sister and before LotSB in the canon timeline.

Which means she'd learn this just before or after she gets involved with Shepard.
