I think Miranda's infertility makes sense from a story telling perspective. She's exemplify's what it means to be human is perfect in every way has perfect genes yet she cannot pass them on. Miranda shows herself to be someone who's willing to do whatever it takes to get the job done which makes her infertility a sort of penance for the cost of genetic engineering which makes her character instead of being a sort of shinning example of the future of humanity into a more tragic one. I hear alot of people complain that Miranda's infertility is a bad thing because her motivation to be an excellent spy/operative and her love of her sister should come from within and not because "I could never have a normal life" but doesn't she not even find out she's infertile until midway through ME2?
That's an interesting theory. I do agree with it.
But I think the reason is because Bioware wants to get her pity and sympathy from players.
