It means Synthesis will occur at some point. This sequel would be set so far in the future no one would know if Shepard enacted it or not. That way your canon still stays intact.

It WILL happen but not within Shepard and Miranda's lifetimes. They'll be long dead.

. I don't know about you but it's time for some serious headcanon to get around that little issue

Shepard and Miranda have what...one hundred and fifty years together if you're generous? Implants and Genes respectivly?

They'll be long dead before Space Grandpa delivers his message to the young boy in the Stargazer scene.

Why do anything past that? Your Shepard story is what's being discussed, not how Pinnochio becomes an eventuality in the future.

And here's Shepard once again, staring at her cleavage...

It'll be hard without Shepard, very hard for certain people, but if they create an interesting enough character, they can make people interested. It would take time though.

If the events took place before the first ME, then they can make appear all your previous squadmates and characters. Anderson, Saren, Nihlus, Miranda and Jacob with Cerbeus, Mordin at Omega, you could work with Zaeed, fight against Thane, get incarcerated by Garrus , interact with Karl reggar and Talis father, etc. Just explore what the charaters were doing before they met Shepard.

I think it'd be fascinating.

With a prequel, they can still make you feel home.

Has anyone besides Merizan said that Synthesis is inevitable?

I mean, she uh, seems like a nice lady and all. But there is no way in hell I would trust her for the nuts and bolts on this sort of thing.

I still say if they make a sequel, they'll have to canonize destroy. There's no way they make a mass effect game without the titular character.

Halo 4 brought back Master Chief, any potential Mass Effect 4 would follow suit.

Shep's done. They have said so quite clearly. Unless of course, they pull something like the beginning of ME2, where the trailers said he was dead and then he came back, but while I liked it once, twice would just be downright obnoxious. So they wont do that again I don't think.

Yup, and so was Master Chief.

Characters sell.  And it's getting harder and harder to make a profit (it's why MMOs and microtransactions are all the rage).

If Mass Effect comes back, you can be sure Shepard comes back too.

I think her point is, logically, whether by Crucible magic OR actual scientific innovation, integration of man and machine is coming. It's already here, actually, to a very minor extent.

I personally think we should stop listening to Bioware on anything involving the endings or what happens after. They've ****ed it up enough, it can only get worse.

Where each of us draws the "**** it I've had enough of this franchise" line may vary.

The endings wouldn't matter if the rest of the franchise wasn't great...plenty of games and science fiction have had much worse.

It's stupid to now dive completely into this Synthetics-vs-Organics plot. From an artisitc and business standpoint.

There is a general agreement of the fanbase that it's nonesense and was an ass-pull from an amateur writer. No need to expand on it and finally crash Mass Effect to death.

Just wondering, who here supports a ME games set after ME3?

At this point, I don't know.  I'm a little disappointed with ME3.  I have a suspicion they will use James as the new protagonist or someone entirely different if they are doing a game set after ME3? Not to mention that rumored crap from way back. ugh.

I'm happier writing my own stories right now, frankly.   I'm still enjoying SWTOR atm when I have a free moment between classes, working, writing and watching my designated nights for tv shows.

Naturally. If ME was **** I doubt any of us would've stuck around for this long.

But they made a franchise that, while not terribly original makes you actually care about the characters and the world. You want to see what happens next with both and you want it to be awesome.

Of course if what happens next happens to be landing in a big pile of **** and choking on your own intestines, maybe now's the time to get off the bus.

Personally I'm ditching all of this the moment they announce canon, any canon regarding Shepard or the endings. I love this universe and I've got a lot of things in mind for it. But I'm preparing myself.

I'm fairly certain my canon is canon. For me anyway, that's the entire point. Anything set afterwords in another game is AU.

There is no need to be upset.

It might be, on a personal level. Except it would make places like the BSN completely unbearable (moreso than at present).

Because you know the people whose choices coincided with the newly minted canon would never shut up about it.

We even have precedent.

The self-righteousness of pro-enders after the EC was announced knew no bounds.

We should ask some fans of the KOTOR franchise what it was like to have canon overrule their decisions.

Yes but you see I quite simply don't care. My Shepard's story ends one way. Anything else isn't his. It's a separate entity.

But you're quite correct about the BSN being a madhouse. That WOULD happen.

And I'm only familiar with the "Light" ending thing for KOTOR because it was simply easier to do. At least that was the excuse I heard. I've not played either game.

Well, the stupid novel has Revan get traped in some cell or some crap for the rest of his life 3 (or whatever) years later while Bastilla is alone with their kid.

Seriously, F*CK that novel.

Then the next question is, should ME end now, or should the franchise but not Shepard continue?

I enjoyed that novel and thought Revan was suitably badass.

But I can see how it might ruin some headcanons.

I don't approve, but on the other hand it is Star Wars. You know LucasFilm will continue to milk it. Star Wars EU is a great place to do your own thing but not so much to do with popular characters.

LOL

No offense but anything she says is a load of garbage. Honestly, she's one of the worst community managers for a major company I've ever seen. I get better customer support and interaction by calling a 1-800 number.

I kind of gave up on Star Wars after those prequels.

"YOU UNDERESTIMATE MY POWER." is still ringing in my ears.

I suppose I'm missing out in come capacity. I hope they re-release KOTOR at some point, which they'll probably do. Unless I can go rooting for it online.

The ending was just stupid.  Scourge stops them from killing the emperor because it wasn't the Jedi he saw in his vision.

...wut.

gah, f*ck that book.

Miranda should have a lightsaber.

That's a disaster waiting to happen. Miranda needs fabulous outfits and a gun.

An animation exists with her holding a shotgun sans shotgun in ME2. I can't imagine her firing one.

It's a bit of a conundrum for me.

I think of the ME universe like the Star Wars EU in terms of potential. So many stories, so many different things you can do with just the pieces you already have on the board. Hell you didn't even need the Reapers. And you certainly don't need Shepard as a centerpiece.

So I would love to see it expanded like Star Wars was, with centuries worth of events and people.

On the other hand I don't trust Bioware in the least to do it justice with this "artistic integrity" trip they're on.

It's quite the dilemma.

Scourge wasn't sure if it was Revan or not and he chickend out. It explains it pretty well. Sith sacrifice others every day. But they're not big on self-sacrifice. It was an interesting look at the difference between light and dark.

But again I see why you might be upset.

And I don't think Miranda should have a lightsaber. You need the Force to properly use one (and don't you say Grievous) and if Miranda had the Force she'd probably fall to the dark side.

Yes that's what I said.

Her model is in the position for holding a shotgun. She looks weird.

There's another glitch on Haestrom when talking to Kal Reegard her butt is right in Shepard's face. It makes the conversation ridiculous.
