You guys remember when Mass Effect was a single player RPG experience........

Yes, but I really like what they've done with the combat side of things, for
the most part. And, unfortunately, the single-player side of things doesn't really excite me, as of late. :?

I'd love to see some Miranda and Tali friendship, given Tali's drunken speech.

Hmm, I dunno. She still doesn't like her. Not to say maybe things couldn't change post-war.

Well, maybe I'm projecting. I had a "Miranda" in my life in high school. Pretty, popular girl dating my crush. She dumped him after a month, and the two of us were friends until I graduated college.

But I think Tali respects Miranda more than anyone on the team now.

I see it now. Collectors are returning. Very nice.

For the record, Ashley's record is even more impressive than Miranda's now.

Ashley helped kill Soverign.

Miranda helped kill most of the collectors.

krukow, let this go. Ash didn't help kill Sovereign, she was just there. None of the squads including Shepard did a thing against Sovereign, the fleet did.

Or possibly Liara. She seems to have a great deal of respect for Miranda as well.

^This. Miranda and Tali as friends make no sense, at best there's mutual respect between them, but that's it. Miranda and Liara on the other hand I can see as friends someday

You can really tell if you read through the first set of comics. Miranda is helping Liara get Shepard's body. They may not be friends at that point but they do trust each other.

Killing the Reaper-possessed Saren weakened Sovereign's shields.  I think.  Not entirely clear on what happened there, but something happened when Saren finally went down, and it provided an opening for the fleets.  The ground team contributed, but I'd hardly say they killed Sovereign.

Which is why I always laughed when anyone credited Shep for killing Sovereign.  I just imagine my Shep thinking, "Really?  I WISH my guns were that big." :D

Why don't we just say that they both have an impressive record.

Ah, the other thread was closed. Good. Thank you, Mr. Priestly.

You know, I fully agree with you when you say that there needs to be a greater acceptance of differences of opinions because I and others you would probrably consider "our side" in this whole mess have felt more than often that there is a conscient effort to misinterpret and portray our opinion regarding Miranda in a negative light.
What exactly has been done in this thread that made you feel we do not accept your right to an opinion? I'm asking this without any malice or anger. I honestly want to know so that we can change that.

That first part, I don't agree with you. I think what he did was a mistake.

It isn't about one side over the other. Yet another misconception. From what I've seen to often in this thread is that having an opinion, view in good or bad light, is a bad thing, or so people make it out to be. People from both sides are at fault, some individuals definately more than others. This isn't a blame game to "I'm better than you." Yet another common theme in this thread.

More fighting goes on than anything else. Examples are available all throughout the entire thread, just pick a page. With an overwhelming amount of people unable to accept a alternate interpretation of Miranda as a person, based on evidence from the game, whether they agree or not, its ridiculous.

Frankly, this thread is an embarrassment to the entire Miranda-fan community. And it may not matter to a lot of you, but I refuse to be a part of it. If that means I am shunned to a private group, because people can't accept that others just want to separte to avoid needless fights, so be it.

PS. That new thread wasn't hurting anyone. I saw no problem with it being open to those who had alternate opinions.

The fact that you sent a PM to Priestly is proof enough that you can't accept differences. Some people weren't comfortable posting here anymore and you should have respected that. I guess I understand why you ratted the other thread though, with some regular posters that didn't view Miranda the same way you did gone you wouldn't have anyone else to disagree with.

Yes, I agree with everything you wrote. The other thread really wasn't hurting anyone, it was even a haven for some posters, not to mention it attracted a few more folks that never posted here because they were afraid.

It's a shame some people (or more likely just one person) decided to act like spoiled brats that run to their mother everytime something doesn't go that well for them.

I was pretty much begging someone to answer me straight on this yesterday. I did not get anything specfic just more vague mentions of  "them" and "other people" picking non-specific fights and attacking non-specific opinions.

I still don't know what all this is about. I got the sense that part of it may be from before I was here, I don't know. There may have been more domineering people before my time and older members haven't gotten over that, who knows? All I know is there is no one like that at present, not really.

I thus conclude that a lot of this is reactionary. Some members are offended by some opinions some regulars strongly defend, they take it personally (especially when they cannot sway those opinions) and then turn around and say they're being picked on or ostracized. This has grown into a such persona stigma between the offendee and the supposed offencer that even association with the latter is enough to bring you hostility from the former. To this last I can attest personally.

Anyway I strongly believe segregation is not the answer and I'm glad we're all back under the same banner.

In the spirit of "keeping the peace" I will no longer argue or defend my opinions (or opinions I agree with) past a certain point. If things get too intense I'll just disengage, lest I be percieved as "supressing opinions" or "picking fights". I would encourage others to do the same. We each know where we stand and it isn't our business to "convert" anyone else.

Yeah, I've never really had a problem with the debates or differences of opinion, especially since it hasn't really devolved into personal attacks. No one is going to agree all of the time, that's life; you can't take that personally. Without it, you'd kill off interesting lines of discussion; you're engaging people, discovering different viewpoints, analysing their interpretations. I like that.

I do know there has been the odd instance where someone has crossed the line in these discussions, but the target of their ire seems to handle it maturely. However, this does link into something of which I am ashamed, and that's the constant bullying.

Fortunately, we seem to have gotten past that now, but there's still a lot of bad blood lingering. I'd like to see that resolved rather than avoided. Of course, I'm not the thread police though. :P

Forum rules say that thread politics shouldn't be discussed on the thread. [deleted one sentence]. I'm willing to discuss things further elsewhere, perhaps in a group, but not here. This place is - and should remain - about a fictional woman we have all come to love, in all her different facets to different degrees. We should be able to rally around her.

For myself, all I can promise is that I will attempt to stay polite when I disagree with people, and like CrutchCricket, not to defend my position beyond a certain point. However, I expect others to do the same, and nobody here can expect their viewpoint to reign unchallenged. That's why this is a discussion forum. Well, except maybe for "Miranda is awesome". That should really be consensus here, right ;)

Like old times? Yes... I could get used to this again.

Didn't expect it to have it's own section though. I thought the character threads had been lumped into the story section.

It seems fitting to celebrate the come back with some good old picture:

The comic is pretty much the same quality as the others, which isn't saying much. Harrison Ford once said "George, you can type this ****, but you sure as hell can't say it." and it pretty much applies here.
