I've decided to get back into the fiction business, and I've drafted up the first chapter to a short story I'm writing. Having played through the Citadel DLC again, I've decided to put my own spin on it. The basic premise (CloneShep tries to kill RealShep and hires a gang of mercenaries to help him) is largely the same (though I don't think I'll add in Brooks, I never really liked her), but the way the plot unfolds will be different than in the DLC. The tone will also be different, as I intend my story to be much more grim and dark than the relatively light and comedic tone of the DLC. I also intend to make the clone a better "evil" villain than he was portrayed in the DLC. A real bastard. I can send it via PM if anyone's interested in taking a look and helping to give feedback.

Sure thing, I do have exams coming up so I'm uncertain when I could give you feedback, but I'd love to give it a look.

I have an EU-sized headcanon I'm probably never going to get out. And several ideas for crossovers. I could start a wiki.

 

Which means that even if I wasn't utterly disgusted with the endings and wanting to have nothing more to do with Bioware I would probably still be screwed regarding a new Mass Effect (if it was a sequel) and my fandom would go the way of Starcraft - I don't want their version and it seems pointless to continue my version so I might as well just screw the whole thing.

Yeah, Tali isn't a very good leader. I only ever choose Garrus or Miranda to lead the second team. Usually Garrus.

lol I don't know, only a really stupid Shepard would send Jacob to the vents.

 

I actually send Miranda as squad leader during the long walk phase. I find it epic to hear Miranda give orders as the leader, and I especially love the part where you get to the other side and Miranda seems to be collapsing but then says: "I'm ready for action commander".

Honestly, I don't see Garrus as Shepard Lite. Sort of like Liara, I think he's one of the squadmates that's pushed on you most.

 

Insofar as my own Shepard goes, I really do think Miranda is the most like my own Shepard, and the most... realistic portrayal of an actual military leader on the team.

 

And I will say that I think her style of leadership gets a bad rap. Honestly, she's more of a transformational leader, while also sitting on the 'punisher' end of leadership.

 

Which does produce results. I've never had a successful officer who wasn't on either of those ends of the leadership grid. I suppose the competent authority would work, especially in areas of logistical and less combat centered areas. I try to maintain a transformational command climate myself, while I prefer to resort to more authoritative states of leadership when in doubt.

That would imply the comparison is baseless. Not so. Unless you ignore or don't recruit him in ME1 you very much mold him to your image, much more so than any other character. As Archangel he pretty much does the 12 badass team before you do and leads them almost as well minus the betrayal by Sidonis. Even his injury and recovery mirror Shepard to some extent. The Shadow Broker flat out states he's trapped in your shadow.

 

It's not as prevalent in ME3, I'll grant you. I think the only thing that comes close is his anti-Reaper task force and how much he complained until he got it. But Garrus is very much your protege. Again, unless you choose to ignore him.

 

And in my case being a sniper infiltrator, our weapons of choice also coincided. The shooting contest in the Presidium was spot on. Garrus is a hell of a shot. But of course, there's only one Shepard...

Wow I'm sensing some serious 'group-think' going on here. Let's look at that word for a minute, there's a fine definition for it on Wikipedia:

 

Groupthink is a psychological phenomenon that occurs within a group of people, in which the desire for harmony or conformity in the group results in an irrational or dysfunctional decision-making outcome. Group members try to minimize conflict and reach a consensus decision without critical evaluation of alternative viewpoints, by actively suppressing dissenting viewpoints, and by isolating themselves from outside influences.

 

Discredited... debunked? Now let me be clear that I am not trying to be condescending by placing definitions in this post. Sometimes its good to reflect on what words we use actually mean. Discredit - definition: to injure the credit or reputation of; defame:

 

Err... Well in no way was I making any such attempt to do this to Miranda Lawson. And as far as "debunking" I didn't know I was on MythBusters   I was simply pointing out how frustrating I found the interactions to be with Miranda (as her love interest) in ME3. I was patient. I was kind. I offered to help.I wanted to spend quality time with her. But at the end of the day, I wanted to tell Miranda this:

 

 

As much as I care for her and admire her in many ways. At a certain point, I wanted her to lose my contact information.

 

 

She was just not the same strong confident woman that I remember from 2185 anymore. I guess being hunted by Cerberus and losing access to military grade resources shook her up a bit. She seemed to still be trying to find her sea legs so to speak. But didn't want to appear weak or vulnerable in front of the one man she should be okay with letting see that side of herself. I wanted to hear her say that "Everything is not alright. And I'm not just talking about with my sister. Cerberus was my home, my family for over ten years. Now their trying to kill me." That can't be an easy thing to process. Who can she turn to now for help and support. Jacob has his own problems. Niket is dead. Shepard is focused on combating the Reapers. What's a girl to do?

 

My first play-through of Mass Effect 3. Every-time I encountered Miranda there seemed to be this melancholy and great sense of foreboding laced in every interaction. And I was shocked but not surprised when she died at Sanctuary. I'll never forget how she looks at Shepard and walks away during your talk with her over the Spectre Terminal. I remember thinking that, "You can't save someone from his or her self."

 

And for the record, you cannot discredit or debunk someone else opinion. If I don't like a movie that you do like. Your liking it does not nullify my dislike of it. I still wish BioWare would have let you talk to Jacob about your relationship with Miranda in ME 3. We all know they didn't work out. And I really wanted to get his advice and hear Jacob's side of things. Because sometimes you can wonder if your doing something wrong or is this just how she is. It was fun talking to Jacob about Miranda in Mass Effect 2. They should of kept that in ME3.

If only Miranda had been consulted before Tali was made an Admiral.

 

Although considering the incompetence shown by Quarian leadership in both the Morning War, and in starting a war with the Geth right when the Reapers were invading (that they subsequently start to lose), perhaps Tali had the perfect resume.

Son, if you think that 2 people disagreeing with you is groupthink, I recommend you read that dictionary again.

 

Also, nobody was "discrediting" Miranda, as you seem to imply. I also recommend you get some glasses to read with since you came to that conclusion. What was "discredited", was the thread you linked.

Yes, yes, you very much can. Thoroughly. Making an irrational appeal to individual thought does not hinder my ability to discredit an invalid argument. I suggest you take a class on basic philosophy. You will learn that in the first few weeks, I guarantee it.
