It also looks unnatural: it doesn't fold the way hair is supposed to fold and not a single hair goes a different way, like they're all glued together...
That's called Bioware hair.

To be fair, modeling and animating hair and making it look real is one of the most difficult things one can accomplish as an animator. You deserve a medal if you can render and animate realistic hair (for a video game, no less, where the models and environments are more dynamic than in a movie or TV series).

It got me wondering, is anyone here at all interested or looking forward to the next Mass Effect, or do you feel done with the series ?
No. I'll admit I got excited when I found out that John Dombrow is back, but that's only because he wrote Javik.
I remember being so hyped about ME back in 2007. I remember when I first saw Miranda in this video https://www.youtube....h?v=1lbQ_lGyt7c during E3 2009. Shame she never lived up to her potential.
Wow, does time fly fast. I don't care anymore about this series. All the investement I put into this trilogy was not worth it.
However... if Javik makes a return then I'll be the first one in line. But obviously, this will never happen.
To me, the armor was the second coming in Mass Effect 2. Though I love her outfit, original, loyalty or modded, having her battling in a jump suit just made zero sense and was a massive turn off in immersion (and when they put the breather masks, i was about to pull out my hair).
Strength in numbers- Jacob, Kasumi, Samara, Thane, Jack(!)
They should've just specified a new type of shield/barrier in the lore that offers the environmental protection of armor. Make it an experimental prototype so armor isn't just obsolete and you're golden. Combat-wise the biotics rely on their powers and the other ones are stealth-based.
Is it a bit of a strech? Sure. But not an insurmountable one. And preferable to that armor, in my humble opinion.
Edit: Interesting how every post on this page seems to be answering different questions entirely.

Them's fightin' words.

Tressfx says hi.

That still isn't particularly convincing hair. Better than the original, but still very clearly "fake" looking.
In any case... What's your point? I never said that it's impossible or that nobody can do it, only that it's really difficult.
Honestly, I think that if they had given her armor from the beginning, there would be more people taking her seriously. Miranda is a well-written, complex character but people focus on the superficial. Miranda in firefights wearing a skin tight catsuit can come off as a bit silly and it did, for many people.
Had they given her the armor from the get go, it would have been easier for her to comandeer respect.
It makes sense and it is still sexy so, I'm all for it. Armor, don't leave the ship without it unless it's a mission on the Citadel or Illyum and we didn't predict a firefight.

I always liked the armor. Yes, it's gratuitous and impractical, but so are Frank Frazetta paintings (and comic books in general). At least Bioware knew their audience then.
Sci-fi chicks in catsuits. Gotta love the classics.

I doubt that. People who are stupid, will be stupid, no matter how hard you try to mitigate the stupidity.
I'm not convinced. Samara, Kasumi, Jack (!!!) or Jacob don't get anywhere near the same amount of commentary on their attire. So what's different?
DAT ASS™ shots.
Personally, I don't mind either. The white suit is still a burger wrapper to me and they do do one (or a few) ass shots too many. But I appreciate all there is to Miranda.
The turnsoffs most cited for Miranda are:
1. MoCap fail. Yvonne Strahovski is gorgeous. Bioware failed to adequately capture her face, almost to Uncanny Valley levels.
2. First impression is that of a cold ****** and they don't bother finding out why that is or how she progresses. Ironic given that a lot of those people then turn around and complain about how everybody's an instant Shepardsexual.
3.Overuse of DAT ASS™ shots
4. Promoting Cerberus. Association fallacy coupled with a refusal to see anything other than black and white.
Check out the latest version of the squadmate ranking thread in Story & Campaign. There's a guy on there who won't shut up about these very points. He's a confirmed hater though And not just Miranda. He only likes the dextros. The Fail is strong with that one.

I like all the designs. It was around that time that Bioware really put an effort in "iconic" looks and took on a more comic-booky feel. And it's all the better for it. I don't care to see her walking around in a big suit, like ME1 Ash.
And that one team mural is still their best artwork. And Miranda at her best too:

I think Bioware has a big version painted on their walls.
I wonder what they think of it every day, walking by....

Pretty certain I just got that dude banned.

I just took a peek into that thread, and it almost made me cry as much as the new Avengers movie did.

What's so bad about the movie?

Oh, nothing really, I quite enjoyed it and think in many ways it's better than the original and would watch it again if given the chance.
I meant that literally, in that the movie almost made me cry. It had some surprisingly emotional and mature moments for a comic book movie.
Of course, the movie is good and that other thread is garbage, that was the idea behind the juxtaposition, though I see now that I didn't make that very clear.

Oh OK. I thought you mean you cried in a sarcastic way.. like it was terrible.

Well, said terrible posts from Mr. Talifan are pretty worthy of tears of mirth and joy.

I hold Bioware responsible. Not the players.
It's only natural when some fans act smug. They've been given the green light.
Speaking of Avengers, I'm watching the Winter Soldier for the first time.
It's kind of like watching Shepard and Miranda, isn't it. The archetypes, at least. Soldier and Spy.

In some ways. I don't think Cap is nearly as ruthless as my Shepard. And by nearly, I mean not at all. My Shepard is pretty dark.
However, that's going to change fast for Civil War. Cap and Stark both take the villain ball against the other. I'm hoping it gets violent.
